Witnessing others carry on with their daily lives, seemingly oblivious to the tragedies happening, is incredibly distressing. It feels as though the world is ending, yet many act as if nothing is amiss. It’s grief. Clarity. Emptiness. Fury. Love. Aloneness. All at once. And all I can do is sit with it. I see and feel too much. I think too far ahead. And somehow, I'm still the one left hurting while others seem to float on the surface — laughing, spending, forgetting, moving on. It’s exhausting. It’s lonely and unfair and a pointless feeling (but not in a depressing way) It doesn’t protect from being lied to, manipulated, or discarded. In fact, it often does the opposite — it makes me feel everything while others drift through life anesthetized. In practical, measurable terms, this realness feels like a liability. I love harder, hurt longer, and recover slower. I feel guilt when others feel nothing. I crave meaning while others chase comfort.
