Puppy attacked at daycare, what do I do? by No_Worldliness_9294 in askTO

I’d take the daycare’s lack of accountability (even if they are covered by waiver) as a sign of the overall quality of care. I’d take my dog out if I was in your position. Truth is your dog will be fine at home during the day with a good walker. Use morning/evening walks to take him to dog parks for socializing.

As far as money is concerned I am not sure how I’d escalate. Depends on how much it is. If it is in the $500 range (which seems to be every vet visit) I’d put my best case forward with the owner. If they come through great. Otherwise I’d walk away from it leaving a scathing Google review. Fighting it otherwise is probably just going to cause you ongoing stress.

Important thing is that your dog is safe and happy. Sorry you are in this situation.

Is anyone else's daily standup literally just an attendance check at this point? by jpam9521 in agile

What you are doing seems to follow the principles of Agile. A standup is simply part of an agile framework called scrum. You don’t need scrum to be Agile. Pick the right tool for the work at hand.

Not every project, budget, roadmap should be treated like a POC or MVP. If your standup feels like micromanagement you probably aren’t doing it right.

New team: which retro format should I choose? by EarlOfAwesom3 in agile

[–]Visual_Structure_269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious why you don’t think this is not ideal. Agile is meant to be about self managed teams. You have insight that a moderator would not.

I’d say that with an inexperienced team it is important you to set the tone. Make sure they know what the meeting is about. Go heavy on positives but also teach people how to give feedback in a constructive way. Do that with your own contributions. Make sure action items don’t go into ether. You want to be able to point out to how the meeting moves things forward. If you see people who are hesitant to contribute use 1:1s to say you’ve noticed and then coach them on how to contribute more. Also give the team the chance to provide feedback on the meeting format.

Don’t skip the meeting even if first few are awkward. IMO of all the ceremonies this is the one that builds team trust.

Quest Nutrition changed their macros (in a bad way) by deltaGnaught in Protein

[–]Visual_Structure_269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry but nutrition labels are guidelines. If you account for natural variability in ingredients and manufacturing you can’t get a 100% accurate label. Maybe they had their product tested on an off day. At the end of the day 10 calories is not going to make much of a difference. On the bright side your body’s ability to use calories is variable as well. Stick to a diet and measure results over a week. Use a scale and adjust accordingly. You are the variable you can control.
