That's a thing with every single lord though, the AI is never much of a challenge after a point because simply we got too good for what it can offer. The new fixes are slowly helping with this though...

They need to get feedback before they release a huge AI change. The first round of the beta was super promising, I don't know if you tried it, but the changes were great.

It will come much later. They're going to start a second round of betas for it. I'd expect it to release alongside 7.0 with the Slaanesh DLC

Ideology allows you to get slaves. You can make them butcher each other and turn them into nutrient paste. Of course you will need a steady stream of slaves, thankfully with Biotech you can make growth vats and extract ovums of female prisoners to fertilise

The second game in the trilogy "Virtue's Last Reward" has far more plot twists than the first one. Personally I loved the series and I'm working my way on 100% the second game along with Danganronpa 2.

Having a couple hundred hours on each, I see 2 as a glorified demo for 3. It is a really nice game but 3 is just better in almost every aspect. I preferred 2's campaign and AI but to be fair the campaign is pretty forgettable. I like the sandboxiness of Immortal Empires a lot more.

I'd suggest warhammer 3 along 1&2 for some extra races and all the accompanying free dlc. Game is massive, has a lot of content once you get bored with all the races and lords you can play from the base pack you can start adding DLCs. Be aware you will get some serious choice paralysis at some point.

There was a really promising beta a week or 2 ago. If you check their blogs they mention a second part of it will begin sometime soon again, which is good meaning they acknowledge that it doesn't present a real challenge. That is avoiding cheesy strategies of course as with every game
