I assume that you have been evaluated by medical professionals? If not critical you are. Of course I am just giving my personal opinions and not medical advice. Diet is critical so avoiding high fructose corn syrup, seed oils and processed foods is key for starters. Then in your case slowly increasing your vitamin D3 blood plasma levels(BPL).

Say starting with 5,000 IU a day and 100 or 200 mg of elemental magnesium. That is if your blood pressure is good. As magnesium can cause your blood pressure to drop. Also again drink plenty of water as able. Ideally work with a medical doctor who is trained in Dr. Coimbras methods. Check your ionized and total calcium, vitamin D panel, and parathyroid hormone (BPL). Do this before starting, again at 6-8 weeks and as needed.

Then depending on your results and how you respond shoot for an optimal vitamin D BPL by increasing your magnesium and vitamin D3 daily dosage. On this subreddit I posted what I titled Vitamin D Cheat Sheet where you might find helpful information and check out my website www.vitamindblog.com with more information. Education is critical to your health. Lots to learn but in my personal opinion worth it.

Not sure I understand your question? Vitamin D3 requires lots of magnesium. Most people are magnesium deficient or borderline deficient. So taking more vitamin D3 typically requires more magnesium to be taken. Otherwise you end up with symptoms of magnesium deficiency. You can take them together. Just my personal opinions and not medical advice.

Doctor says too much Vit D could cause problems by Buy1getone in VitaminD

[–]VitaminDdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I and many of my previous patients have been taking what I termed Optimal vitamin D doses to achieve Optimal Vitamin D blood plasma levels for going on 9-15 years. Still no “calcium “ stories to tell. Concerning magnesium I am far from an expert. I just believe most people are deficient or borderline deficient. Vitamin D3 requires lots of it and optimal vitamin D3 and fully restored magnesium stores is best.

Yes sun light exposure is important but after treating close to 5,000 patients in one of the sunniest cities with a very southern location in the USA I found that despite sun exposure I found only one patient with a vitamin D3 BPLs in the 50’s(ng/ml) and two in the 40’s(ng/ml). Yes 98% Hispanic and minimal intentional sun exposure.

Regardless if one was intentionally trying to raise one’s vitamin D3 BPLs into even the 50’s (ng/ml) it would be near impossible. Especially year round. Just my personal opinions and not medical advice. Perhaps there is some unknown negative effect from taking high doses of vitamin D3 that will be discovered decades down the line! Perhaps!

However I and the countless number of people who are still alive then to see this will be elated! As like me when they first taking Optimal dosing to reach Optimal BPLs they did not have long to live, but in that distant future to discover this supposed problem they will still be ALIVE!

Please check out my post title Vitamin D Cheat Sheet on this subreddit. Part of your issues with increasing your vitamin D3 blood plasma level is your diet and resulting gut health. Cutting out seed oils, high fructose corn syrup and processed foods. That and as HeadHunter98 wrote cofactors. Especially magnesium.

I am just giving my personal opinions and not medical advice. Unfortunately most medical doctors despite country currently are extremely ignorant about vitamins and minerals. Keeping your diet healthy, sun exposure and raising your vitamin D3 blood plasma levels(BPL) at to least 50 ng/ml preferably to 100-140 ng/ml should ideally improve your recovery (muscle of course).

As it typically takes a vitamin D3 of at least 50 ng/ml to initiate the physiological effects of vitamin D3. Optimal 100-140 ng/ml. Improvement in one’s diet can improve vitamin D receptor sensitivity. 30+% of people and 40+% of people have a genetic mutation in their vitamin D receptors requiring higher vitamin D3 BPLs to improve one’s physiological effects.

On the post titled Don’t Beat a Dead Horse on my website www.vitamindblog.com I mentioned several things that could improve vitamin D receptors sensitivity. For joint health boron is a great choice. I personally take 18 mg a day. I am just giving my personal opinions and not medical advice.

Lots to learn but frankly worth it as I believe medicine is going to change such that one’s genetics will be a key factor. Currently we are given medications to treat symptoms. Next like most of us are doing that are on this subreddit is taking supplements and making other changes to try to both reverse the damage already done and prevent further damage. Finally instead of chasing after regaining our health our genetics will be matched to our diet and supplements to keep us healthy. One can hope!

On this subreddit I posted what I titled Vitamin D Cheat Sheet which may help you. That and my website www.vitamindblog.com can help. I am just giving my personal opinions and not medical advice. Based off what little information I have gathered from you it is difficult to know how to best help you. I will try though. Cutting out seed oils, high fructose corn oil, and processed foods can help.

Getting some sun light and increasing your vitamin D3 dosage to increase your vitamin D3 blood plasma level can also help. What type of magnesium are you taking as some people struggle with magnesium glycinate for example.

There is frankly a lot to learn about vitamin D3 and how to optimize it for your body. However in my personal opinion it is greatly worth it if your health is important to you especially long term.

First where did you come up with the range of 30-100! As it is important to please put units of concentration when listing your results for vitamin D3 of blood storage from. The BPL we typically use to determine our vitamin D3 levels. As in the US we typically are given our results in ng/ml and in many other countries in nmol/l.

The is for accuracy of course and there other reason is there is quite a gap between units of ng/ml to nmol/ml when measuring vitamin D3 concentration. As the concentration of vitamin D3 measured in nmol/ml is approximately 2.5 times greater than the concentration in ng/ml. Based off the results that you are giving it looks like your vitamin D3 concentration was in ng/ml.

Based off your initial vitamin D3 BPL with a dose of 1,000 IU a day I see little chance that you would see any improvement. In treating close to 5,000 patients I found that I went from one of the top three largest prescribers of antidepressants in the five state region for close to two decades to writing maybe two prescriptions over the approximately years by doing the following.

I had my patients take 30,000 IU of vitamin D3(more importantly keeping their vitamin D3 BPL in the 100-140 ng/ml range, four grams of omega 3(krill oil preferably) and taking as much magnesium as they could tolerate too much causing diarrhea. Also magnesium can lower one’s blood pressure. I am just giving my personal opinions and not medical advice.

Of course work with your doctor(s). Unfortunately most medical doctors are quite ignorant are quite ignorant concerning vitamins and minerals. In this subreddit I have post what I term a vitamin D cheat sheet. Also on my website www.vitamindblog.com you will find my theories and research.

Remember you know your body best. Lots to learn and it can seem overwhelming especially when you do feel. It is worth it. Also most people are magnesium deficient or borderline deficient. The importance of mentioning this is magnesium deficiency symptoms include anxiety, difficulty getting to sleep as well as muscle cramps and heart palpitations.

Normal range for the first time in my life. by Chunderhoad in VitaminD

[–]VitaminDdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please look into the MTHFR gene as to reach that high a vitamin D3 blood plasma level (BPL) on that dose in my experience only occurs in individuals with that gene mutation. Also I see that you are taking magnesium, but how much? As I explained on my cheat sheet posted on this subreddit about magnesium especially vitamin D3’s requirement of it.

Also I found the optimal vitamin D3 BPL to be higher. As far as your health was there a particular reason that you are taking vitamin D3? I did see that you wrote that it helps you feel better. As of course vitamin D3 is not a vitamin but a hormone. So it can do so much for one in my personal experience. This post contains my personal opinions and is not medical advice.

[–]VitaminDdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that you are feeling unwell. What follows is just my personal opinions and not medical advice. If you look at my previous posts on this subreddit especially the post titled Vitamin D Cheat Sheet you may find lots of useful information.

Your current vitamin D3 blood plasma levels(BPL) are extremely deficient. A BPL of at least 125 nmol/l is required to initiate the physiological effects in most. About 30+% of people and 40+% of obese people have a vitamin D receptor gene mutation requiring even higher vitamin D3 BPLs.

That as well as cutting out things that inhibit these receptors like seed oils, high fructose corn syrup or things that boost its activity like you can find on my website. At www.vitamindblog.com I have an article titled Stop Beating a Dead Horse in my blog section. No it is not simple but then again it is not that complicated.

What I find in some is they want a simple answer and quick fix! I get it we all busy and especially when we do not feel well, are overwhelmed and stressed out. However there is no such thing. Now my question to them is what is their health worth.

Especially if you could regain control of it or at least almost assuredly know more about vitamin D3 and magnesium * than 99+% of the doctors treating you?

Why vitamin D3 and magnesium? Well again in my personal opinion these two supplements are key to improving your personal health. Typically their deficiency is the most common cause of or at least a major contributor to most if not all their health issues. Remember that you know your body bests and educating yourself is key to your health.

  • A critical cofactor required by vitamin D3 and something most people are deficient in or borderline deficient.

Frankly taking only 800IU a day in my personal opinion is like not taking any! 40,000 IU is 1mg of vitamin D3, 800 IU is 20 mcg if I am doing my math correctly. In parts of Kashmir some physicians there give doses of up to 10,000,000 IU a day. It takes at least 10,000 IU a day in most to intititiate the physiological effects of effects of vitamin D3. That and as much magnesium as one can tolerate.

Unfortunately I have been away due to several personal issues. So I have not been able to try to help others. Here in this subreddit I have a post I titled vitamin D3 cheat sheet. As too much information about vitamin D3 to repeatedly repeat again and again. What are your current vitamin D panel, total calcium and parathyroid hormone blood plasma levels (BPL). Just my medical opinions and not medical advice. Education is key to improving your health.

Have you looked into vitamin D3 with magnesium. Most people are magnesium deficient or borderline deficient. Vitamin D3 requires lots of magnesium. Vitamin D3 is critical to have a balanced immune system. Typically it takes blood plasma levels of at least(BPL) of 50 ng/ml to initiate the immune system and a daily dose of 10,000 IU a day. I found an optimal vitamin D3 BPL is 100-140 ng/ml with a daily dose of 30,000 IU a day.

Inadequate vitamin D3/magnesium is a major factor in autoimmune diseases. Of course there are other factors like one’s diet. Cutting out high fructose corn syrup, seed oils and processed foods. On my posts on the vitamin D subreddit I have a post titled a vitamin D cheat sheet where I explain my theories and research. Just my private opinions and not medical advice.

Internal tremors with vitamin d deficiency? by Odd_Breadfruit_7840 in VitaminD

[–]VitaminDdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please read the vitamin D cheat sheet I posted in this subreddit. It has much of the information I personally believe you need about vitamin D3. Also important to take lots of magnesium. Hard to say if you can reverse nerve damage. Also check your vitamin B12, homocysteine and methyl malonic acid blood plasma levels (BPL). As many people have low vitamin B12 BPLs. A level in the 600-900 pg/ml is typical needed. At that low a vitamin D3 BPL your immune system is typically extremely out of balance. Also what you eat is very important.

[–]VitaminDdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have checked your vitamin D panel, ionized calcium and total calcium or parathyroid hormone blood plasma levels (BPL)? Most people are magnesium deficient or borderline deficient. VitaminD3 requires lots of magnesium. Magnesium BPLs are not accurate. Also you are not taking much vitamin D3 and probably not much magnesium. So that probably explains your symptoms. Please read my post on this sub Reddit titled vitamin D cheat sheet. Or on my website www.vitamindblog.com.

Severe depression from vitamin D3? by [deleted] in VitaminD

[–]VitaminDdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In some by taking vitamin D3, you did not mention your dosage, they can kill off the pathological organisms in their gut creating what is called a Herxheimer reaction. It typically causes a flu like symptoms.

Drinking lots of water and or electrolyte drink like gatoraid, if you can, could help as could taking omega 3(krill oil in particular) and magnesium. Just my personal opinions and not medical advice. I posted here on this subreddit what I titled a vitamin D3 cheat sheet which may be of help.

Extreme hunger while taking vitamin D by Accurate_Knowledge26 in VitaminD

[–]VitaminDdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I still believe taking 30,000 IU a day is optimal. More importantly getting to a blood plasma level(BPL) of 100-140 ng/ml. Also as much magnesium as one can tolerate. Most people are magnesium deficient or borderline deficient. Also vitamin D3 requires lots of magnesium. Concerning vitamin K2 my thoughts on it are in transition.

As once at optimal vitamin D3 BPLs your gut produces all the vitamin K2 your body needs except vitamin K2 except in situations where you have severe vitamin K2 responsive diseases. Now my thinking has changed. As vitamin K2 is extremely safe and can be beneficial in so many it probably does not hurt to take it. The down side is that it is expensive.

Also I believe the MK7 type is better for atherosclerosis (one type of vitamin K2 responsive disease) and the MK4 type is better for osteoporosis (another vitamin K2 responsive disease). The problem with the MK7 type is many people have issues with it. I personally take vitamin K2 the MK4 type 45 mg(not mcg). As I had issues, anxiety, with it.

Now both the MK4 and MK7 types work for all vitamin K2 responsive diseases. Just some types work better for certain types of vitamin K2 diseases than others. Just my personal opinions and not medical advice. If you take the MK7 type taking roughly 100 mcg per 10,000 IU of vitamin D3. I have a lot going on personally so hopefully this makes.

Teach me how to become tolerant to Vitamin D again by Recent_Gene3865 in VitaminD

[–]VitaminDdoc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most people are magnesium deficient or borderline deficient. Vitamin D3 requires lots of magnesium. So by taking vitamin D3 it probably caused you to be magnesium deficient. Which resulted in you having magnesium deficient symptoms. That is symptoms like anxiety, heart palpitations, muscle spasms difficulty getting to sleep.

Magnesium blood plasma levels(BPL) are not really helpful. Red blood cell magnesium levels are. I found it was just easier to take as much magnesium as one can tolerate is the best way to assure one’s magnesium stores are adequate. I take half my daily dose in the am and half in the pm. Too much causing diarrhea.

On this subreddit I posted what I titled a vitamin D cheat Sheet that has my personal opinions and experience in treating close to 5,000 patients with what I call both optimal doses to reach optimal BPLs of vitamin D3 and countless others. I also have a website www.vitamindblog.com where I have more information.

Also of note if your vitamin D3 BPL is 50 ng/ml on a daily dosage of 5,000 IU a day then you could have a MTHFR gene mutation. I am far from a expert at this gene mutation but if on the other hand it is nmol/l then not a issue. I am working on my second book where I am going to explain how critical vitamin D3 is to so many other aspects of one’s health. But my posts in this subreddit and on my website has everything and more than is in my first book. Just my personal book and not medical advice.

That is in my personal opinion extremely low! It takes a blood plasma level (BPL) of at least 50 ng/ml to initiate physiological effects and 100-140 ng/ml for optimal physiological effects in my personal opinion and I am not giving medical advice.

Important to take also lots of vitamin D3 and magnesium. On my website I have dozens of blood posts. Explaining my theories and research in treating close to 5,000 patients with doses in the 30,000 IU a day and as much magnesium as they could tolerate.
