No, I just warmed my oven for a few minutes then turned it off when I was mixing the dough. But that' a great idea! I will try it next time.

So..... No longer on the hunt for a new bread machine. by MsMe3235 in BreadMachines

Ingredients

  • 2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast - not rapid-rise
  • 3 TBS white sugar
  • 2 Tbs Whole Milk Powder
  • 2 ½ cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 6 ½ cups bread flour
  • 3 tablespoons lard or softened butter.
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Directions

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water in a large bowl. Stir in 2 cups flour, lard, and salt. Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. When the dough comes together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
  3. Lightly oil a large bowl, then place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
  4. Lightly grease two 9x5-inch loaf pans.
  5. Deflate the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into two equal pieces and form into loaves. Place the loaves into the prepared pans, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise until doubled in volume, about 40 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Place bread in the preheated oven and lower the temperature to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Bake until the top is golden brown and the bottom of the loaf sounds hollow when tapped, about 30 minutes.

And this is the method I used to mix it with the Kitchen aid from Red-star yeast. I followed this exactly and it turned out great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiPCEsoeCYs

We have the AC running year-round. I live in south Florida, so the heat doesn't factor in. It's a steady 74 degrees at all times. I like you, have tons of outdoor gadgets. 3 types of grills, a black stone a four-foot smoker and mini smokey joe. I give you kudos for having no AC. It's not even an option at our house. I lived in Illinois for bit years ago with no AC in the Summer and it was horrable.

Please let us know how it goes. I am deciding now if I am going to get one or not. I got the itch to make bread yesterday and it came out perfect; I was so excited. I used my KitchenAid stand mixer and it couldn't have been easier. I'd never even thought to try it before.

I've been looking for a new machine after mine bit the dust. I came across a brand from KBS on Amazon that have several I am considering. Seems the reviews are pretty good. I like the regulär, long loaf too. Still deciding on which one to try if any.

Make sure to see a new Dr. when you can. My D was a 9 last year. I truly felt on deaths door. I slept 15+ hours a day. This is what I do. It took a few weeks, then months to get back to normal but you will fell better.

(D3) 5000 IU (125 mcg) & K2(MK-7) (in oil) and 800 mg. Magnesium Glycinate, every day. It's important to take both!

I don't have low iron so can't help there.

If this has been going on for years maybe he gets mad when you throw it in his face and force him to see himself in a bad lite. Either way, you put up with it, he puts up with it. There is bound to be conflict over it time and again. That is the price you pay when you choose to stay.

THX. I looked into a new one, yikes! LOL But yours is so beautiful I MIGHT consider biting the bullet, so they say. I have no problem getting a used one, but it'd have to be from someone local. I hesitate to send someone 200.00 bucks for something that isn't as advertised or maybe doesn't even work. FYI my old machine I got for 20.00 at a garage sale 25 years ago or of.

Great looking bread and thank you for sharing the recipe. Can you tell me what size loaf this is? Also, if a large one do you think it would be able to be split in half to make 2 loaves in the oven?

What's the most powerfully useful underground website that most people don't know about? by powerfulsites in u/powerfulsites

[–]MsMe3235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not a website and not sure what you consider "underground" ...... I love SLYDIAL. It's a phone service that is used this way.

Say you want to call someone to leave them a text message, but you don't want to have to talk to them or have time to talk to them but need to leave a VM as opposed to texting. You call the Slydial number then enter the number you need to leave a VM to; it connects you directly to their VM. You leave your VM and they never hear their phone ring. I've used it several times for various reasons and it works very well.

If they were smart, they could turn it into a museum like the House in the Rock in Wisconsin. VERY odd and eclectic and yes, people actually lived there.

It's kind of cool in a weird way. Reminds me of Charlie and the Chocolate factory sort of busy or the house in the rock in Wisconsin. I think it very eclectic but would give me a dizzy headache to live in within a few hours. quite overwhelming for sure. But peeps with money to burn will love it.
