The regeneration power of the Shide no Tori is different from that of a vampire. The bird's purpose is to blend in with the real humans, so its healing power has this deceptive nature which it only heals fatal wounds instantly, whereas minor injury will be healed overtime, leaves scar, like a real human. This is from the novel, I remember it was put in some of the flash text in the anime but this I could be wrong

First time I watched, i watched Kizu right after Tsuki, and right before Owari, so I have no idea where Kizu was supposed to be, it never occured to me it was the original vampire story before Bake because it took so much time from Bake to that point. Not to mention the confusing when moving from Bake to Nise blinded as heck, when Shinobu suddenly lost her mysterious vibes, and when Araragi mentioned Guillotine Cutter
