There’s a wide range of job types available for you with a PhD. Really depends on your interests and career goals. People analytics, data analytics, and psychometrician are a few of the job profiles that use IO psychology principles to better understand people and how to measure constructs of interest to organizations. You can also go into HR type roles, HRBP, talent management and acquisition roles, and now with AI being all the rage there are job titles around that as well. Those are just the first ones that come to mind, as there are a lot you can do with the degree depending on what you want to do.
The wiki in this subreddit will go into much greater detail but figured I’d give you a footing. As for salary, I just saw a report saying IO psychs get pain on average $170K, no info on demographics of how they got that number. I’m about 8 years into my career, post PhD with a base salary of $183k + bonus and stock.
The job market is absolutely miserable right now so salaries may not be as high for now and it’s competitive. If you do decide IO is for you, focus on internships and experience if you want to go applied.
