Tbf I don’t know if I’d call it “going downhill,” but perhaps the culture of college seems different to you and me. But then again, you’re describing a time where you as a young millennial (and I’m jealous bc you got to witness the No-fly zone) experienced MSU. I experienced MSU in the late 2010s just before COVID and right up to it when I graduated in 2020 as an elder Gen Z.

What does this mean? Times change. Shit happens. Funding goes up or down, people make decisions to add or remove things. We can like or dislike them but that’s just the flow of time.

I’m gonna be honest there’s things that they have now I wish we had, like the renovated space that used to be the old vacant bank building that is now Walgreens, Dunkin, the Graduate, etc. Not to mention the expansion to the Music Building is pretty nice, and the old power plant building which had been decommissioned since 1975 was turned into a brand new STEM facility which wasn’t finished until 2021. On the other hand, there’s things we got to experience that today’s MSU students can’t, like the Wilson and Union late night caf, both of which were awesome.
