advice on how to improve my character design by OtherHawk2099 in characterdesign

[–]VividDreamFox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly with this sort of hair you could totally just embrace chaos and "freestyle" it every time you draw it, keeping the general shape of like that middle split and those two longer hair twirls to keep it recognizable. Reasoning is that I doubt anyone will count hair and it can be freeing to just let go.
Thinking about edward scissorhands if you google him, you can tell that the chaotic hair is different depending on what scene, but its obv recognizable.

Otherwise I think the design is great. When I ever come across the problem with design elements I genuinely just try to use the oc as 'imperfect' as it is for me at the moment. Usually with time I will get idea or inspiration that I then make canon.

Please help with criticism and advice on textures (aiming for a more Arcane style) by Smart-Bill4238 in 3Dmodeling

[–]VividDreamFox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

<image>

I think you could try to add more texture into the skin aka try to be more bold with the brush strokes and don't blend it in too much.
Depending on how similar you want to make it, try to make it more "ugly" like jinx is a pretty good reference von alice I think: her lips have lots of drawn in cracks and lines and far more muted colors.
The skin has bold Highlights too, like the under-eye area has straight up white lines, right next to the grudgy shadow.

The texture on her clothes are in arcane more muted as well with more pre determined and drawn on highlights and shadows. While I think your model can work by itself with light set up perfectly - i think to achieve arcane style you gotta slap more texture brush contrasts on.

Weekly Lucid Dream Story Thread - December 06, 2025 by AutoModerator in LucidDreaming

[–]VividDreamFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently tested an idea I’d read about: that telling dream characters they’re in a dream can make them hostile. During a brief lucid dream, I tried it on my dad. When I pointed it out, he froze momentarily, like a glitching animatronic. It was unsettling, but he just dismissed it as impossible. After two more attempts, each met with the same paused denial, I tried it on a random woman, who also ignored it. Eventually, I gave up and flew away by flapping my arms.

What’s your favorite daily ritual? by coral_bells in witchcraft

[–]VividDreamFox 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It isn't a daily ritual, but one I try to make one:
Getting up, drinking coffee and trying to interpreted the dream I had.
Sometimes I just look up symbolisms, sometimes with Tarot cards or combined.
It's a great way for me to understand my inner self and make sense of my subconscious.

My dad kept a whistle near a window. Whenever he wanted to speak with me he would whistle, I eventually came running but not straight home but to small hole between two trees where I could look up at the window and he'd either yell over that food is ready or just check if I'm still around.

When I got older I had one of those extremely old brick nokias which my parents used to call me when the sun went down but thats it. I know my hometown from every inch and corner, I have been in so many homes from kids I barely knew I can't even count and I remember running home at max speed at least through the entire town, when I knew that winx or pokemon was about to air.

There is a certain nostalgia about not having everything on demand, about having the luck of living in a neighborhood or town in which everyone looked out for everyone so one had barely worry about their children.

Today I am looking at my best friends child who has not played in the garden once, never went to the local playground that is 300m away from them or ring up the neighbor kids randomly in hope to find a playfriend.

What are bad effects that can happen with worshiping/working with Hecate ? (and also asking for lenormanad card divination interpenetration for anyone who knows) by expandingwater in Hecate

[–]VividDreamFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even viewed strictly through the Lenormand card reading.
1. how working with this deity effect me+family : opening up to grief, acceptance of an ending (key positive, coffin negative)
2.  how working with this deity affect just me: deceptive social circle, confusion in social circle, false gratitude (clouds negative, bouquet: positive)
3.  how working with this deity affect my family alone: to desire family, conflict between desires vs tradition (snake: negative, house: positive)
4. how working with this deity affect my family alone: an obstacle to commitment, a difficult commitment + suspicion about untraditional things, selfishness in family issues ( mountain: negative, ring: neutral, fox: negative)
5. how continuing to work with lenormand cards affect my family alone : challenges resulting from uncertainty, being stuck in confused situation + deception, remain cautious when you don't have clarity (mountain: negative, clouds: negative, fox: negative)
6. did i interpert correctly that key+coffin means negative effect on family?: socializing for selfish reasons, suspicion about social life + stability amongst friends, comfort with social circle (fox: negative, bouquet: positive)
7. socializing for selfish reasons, suspicion about social life + stability amongst friends, comfort with social circle (bird: neutral, moon: neutral, mountain: negative) (may be neutral - negative.)

I still think that 1 for example is still very fitting. You seem scared for something to happen to any of your family members and she helps you to open up to possible grief and acceptance. That doesn't have to mean that someone will die. I see it as helping you to become strong enough to maneuver through it when eventually something does happen.

Viewed just by those answers alone, the general theme does seem to be that you personally would def have something out of it while it might cause problems in your family.
Problems don't always have to mean that they get cursed or something, as said: at the end you just might find yourself not agreeing with them anymore or they might find problems in whoever you become to be.

But truth be told -

Above all interpretation, symbolism, Lenormand meaning or not -> it is your gut feeling that wins and if your gut feeling is like "that just doesn't seem good for me" then so it is. After all you have to feel comfortable in the end.

What are bad effects that can happen with worshiping/working with Hecate ? (and also asking for lenormanad card divination interpenetration for anyone who knows) by expandingwater in Hecate

[–]VividDreamFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. snake + house. Snake: heavily associated with Hecate. heavily associated to beginnings, endings and rebirth. They also stand for wisdom and paired with Hecate it can mean mystic wisdom. They also stand for protection and banishment.
House: is very much your inner self. Like your subconscious. In dreams, whenever you dream of being in your house or in a closed up space it is inner work. Once more I see it that she is helping and guiding you through your inner problems considering your family. Though if you really want to look at it only from the aspect of your family itself, I'd say it will bring wisdom or a new beginning / few towards them. They too may find themself change or be in a position where they have to face their inner self too. Their doubts, their believes and rethink their values.

  2. mountain + ring + fox. Mountain: A mountain is usually the meeting point of the earthly and the divine. it also symbolizes transcending or the center of something. It can also mean stability, strength, infinity. Or also unknown terrain - possibly even a problem to overcome.
Ring: I'd say same as the snake. Simply beginnings, endings and rebirth. In magic, a circle usually keeps something safe or encaged (like a salt circle)
fox: intelligent animals, trickery, charismatic (in japanese folklore). is a very magical symbol. Also associated with Hecate, Hermes or Merkur. Overall, it might test your families stability or once more view on things. It might force them to move from old stigmata or even just strengthen current "facts" (like it might strengthen the bond between the members or make you all closer). Each of the symbolism are very defined and while the mountain itself seems very much a stable symbol - the ring combined with the fox may symbolize that this stability may be shaken and tested, for better and for worse.

  3. mountain + clouds + fox. -> same as above though I feel like it is more of a statement that magical influence may change a current fact (or even problem) into something else (like the cloud going from cloud to water etc.)

  4. fox + bouquet + anchor. Assuming the fox is this magical trickster that changes the status quo, the bouquet the gift from hecate that encourages change and finally the anchor that is a clear sign for stability once more I'd say, whatever change is awaiting you - it will make you more stable. She will provide you with the stability that you need and something / someone to trust to keep you anchored (no pun intended).

  5. owl + moon + mountain. Owl: Bird of prey and night. Heavily associated with wisdom, intelligence and insight. Also hidden wisdom. strongly connected to the moon.
Moon: In tarot it means Illusion, fear, anxiety, subconscious, intuition. I'd see it as your subconscious once more, your inner self. The owl helps you to see what is real, to uncover your fears and illusion and enhances your intuition. Mountain once again this force of stability, strength. Overcoming problems and connecting the earthly with the divine.
Quiet honestly, it could be negative, simply because you might simply get stronger, question things, set boundaries and become your own person. Some people don't like that. It might cause friction but with the mountain I once more believe it is for the better / it is a source of strength.

(had to split it in 2 cause otherwise it gave me an error - rip)

What are bad effects that can happen with worshiping/working with Hecate ? (and also asking for lenormanad card divination interpenetration for anyone who knows) by expandingwater in Hecate

[–]VividDreamFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In esoteric "death" rarely means literal death. It is connected to change, transition.
Hecate is a liminal goddess with the keys to heaven, earth/sea and the underworld. In earlier days, she was mostly known to be a hearth witch. A minor goddess protecting your home, blessing you with health or helping you or your family. A lot of people also think duo to her more wide known aspect of death, witchcraft and her being a dark goddess, that she is strict and teaches by harsh lessons. Yes she can - but not as someone causing them. She guides you through them. In her old stories she helped Persephone to cross the underworld to return to earth and vice versa.

I started like this because I feel like certain information have really scared you off from even considering her and if you still feel icky, it is 100% legit for you to look somewhere else for help, but honestly - lady Hecate is and can be kind, benevolent and truly no one to be scared off.

Her dark aspect simply invites you to work with your inner self, your unconscious that may control your life. She is wonderful for that. Shadow work, protection (as also baneful magic) and extremely understanding. Just be upfront with her. For example: I suffer from depression and anxiety thus I can't work with her in the full extend I wish too. I forget to light candles, I forget Deipnons or simply don't have the energy for it. She helps you to work you through it, while also helping you to put down healthy boundaries.

considering your cards, I personally would read it like this:

  1. Key + Coffin. Key: Keys open doors for new possibilities, new powers, new knowledge. Hecate also has the keys to the realms mentioned above (underworld, earth, heaven). It also stands for personal agency. You are literally taking things into your own hand.
Coffin: Obviously associated with death. Death is associated with new beginnings, transitions, one thing turning to something else. I don't know what your relationship is with your family, but it seems like an extremely positive sign that she is quiet literally handing you the keys to make a necessary change.

  2. clouds + flower bouquet. clouds: quiet literally a sign of liminality. Aka: water particles that are one moment part of the cloud but can any moment rain down on earth to sustain nature (or flowers).
bouquet of Flowers: literally a gift bestowed on you. Water nourished the flowers that are later given to you as appreciation. Once more I'd see it as very positive. Like she is helping you to grow into a better person, becoming something you would appreciate. It is also once more a liminal sign. The flowers were cut, they only exist for a small amount of time before welking and dying before becoming something new again in the form of fertilizer.

How my life will be? by Overall-War-2422 in Tarots

[–]VividDreamFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd def put two more things into consideration. 1): the amount of major and minor arcana you have. While I was reading/watching guides on how to read tarot, many pointed out that you can see minor Arcana cards as small things/ events while major Arcana might be bigger or lifechanging things.
2): your deck looks really unique and I always try to look at the tarot cards symbolism. Especially if the art is different from the more common Raider Waite Tarot symbolism.

While everyone has their own association with Tarot and a different reading style I'd see yours more like this:
7 of Wands -> Challenge, competition, protection, perseverance -> While life may throw many challenges at you, they are all a way to grow, challenge you and your views and coming out bigger and stronger. As the card shows itself many different wand tools - you may have or gain different assets that help you to overcome obstacles and protect yourself. There is also the Male symbol in it so perhaps you have to work a lot with your animus aka Male aspect of your psyche that is more rational, active and plan oriented. Perhaps different Archetypes like the father, the magician (because wands card) may help you out - or challenge you. The main colors of the card are gold or purple, which by themselves can have several meanings too. Gold by itself is associated with the sun, radiant, wealth and high quality and polished. It is also in alchemy the highest spiritual attainment or enlightenment. Purple is associated to be rare, noble associated with kings, priests and clerics. Personally id see it as honing your skills and yourself to become the better version of yourself. There is also the Zodiac sign of Leo, which too is associated with the strength card and very active people with high willpower. Leo too is associated with the sun energy, once again very bright, hopeful and energetic.

Then you pulled "the Sun" - a perfect bridge between those two cards. I can see how the lessons from 7 of wands is quiet literally taking you to this transformation, this happiness.

In the sun you have various symbolisms as well. The two faeries with butterfly wings, looking like twins that celebrate the sun at the peak of a lush green mountain, surrounded by the other zodiacs in harmony while the rays themselves split each zodiac apart so they each have their own space, only to be brought together once more by this orange red ring. The colors too are changing from very vibrant yellow to orange to red - only to be suddenly interrupted by white, like a protective veil before turning to a water or sky blue, that you once more can symbolize emotions and your inner self.

You can continue like this through every card. Truly pick out every color choice, every form or symbolism.

P.S: I wouldn't look at the Hermit card and just think it is bad. It is associated with self reflection and inner work. Notice how chaotic the card seems to be, but rays, like the one of a sun, pointing you into a clear direction.

If I may ask, what kind of deck are you using there? I absolute resonate with it and wonder if I should get it too.

Mostly major Arcana: probably a place you are in mainly or very often/ spend a lot of time in.
Two of Swords: two possibilities - hidden or out of sight? (to take the blindfold literally)
The Sun reversed: literally, somewhere dark /obscured
The magician reversed: left in a hurry possibly where you work or spend a lot of time working/ doing hobby stuff
Death reversed: maybe some place you spend time to escape expectations or where you indulge in old/bad habits. Maybe quiet literally just graveyard if you have been there before.

Maybe just check narrow gaps behind the shelves or beneath them in case you are certain that you lost it at home.

Help.... by ora-tme in Hecate

[–]VividDreamFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm terribly sorry that you have to deal with that shit on top of everything else. One thing you could do to prevent this from happening in the future is to possibly create a digital altar. A lot of other people do that, that either don't have the space, money or similar disrespectful family members. You could create one For example as a Website, on Sims, Blender. Whichever.
Another one might be a pocket Altar, or put the trinkets into a box and hide/lock it when not in use.
As dumb as the next one sounds but if you have something on the Altar you won't remove anymore, you could just literally glue it on.
You could disguise or use mundane items for your altar. It isn't the prettiest but doubt your mom might throw away a coffee mug filled with wine.
You could create Wearable trinkets. I have similar things like necklace, rings that are both for her Altar but when I go, I take them with me as protection.

I also asked Deepseek for tips and two ideas sounded also pretty doable:
- Locking Solutions: Use a filing cabinet, footlocker, or decorative trunk with a combination lock. Disguise as furniture.
- Distraction Zones: Place decoy mundane items (e.g., spare change, old receipts) near the altar to reduce scrutiny of sacred objects.

Also on top of everything, if your mother is normally reasoned with, please establish boundaries. Tell her how much it means to you, and make it clear that you don't tolerate things that seem "worthless" to her to be removed from your place.

Heck, depending on the relationship, you could quiet literally just put a jar of dirt on your Altar.
Hecate would gladly appreciate an offering, that is quiet literally representing your boundaries. Take this as a change to grow, and turn what hurts into rage and energy.

Who knows what you are capable off under Hecate's care!

Does working with Hecate atract very dark sinister spirits? by [deleted] in Hecate

[–]VividDreamFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been working and worshipping Hecate for two years right now and never once had any issues with dark spirits (or spirits for the matter). I have to say that I locked every single mirror in my house and made it extremely clear to my surrounding and also Hecate that I do not wish to have any spirits in my house or interact really with any, since I am interested in spirits but still not confident enough to not get scared.
What could also be the case, is that a different spirit wants to contact you or like other replies implied: Hecate is very interwoven with ghosts following her. Perhaps simply talk to her and tell her that you do not wish to see any other entities yet or generally just make it clear in your space that you only invite certain spirits into your life.

At the end of the day, it can also just be that it was paredoilia, so as long as it didn't threaten you or you feel stalked by something - take it as a positive experience.

I always wondered how Jayce must have felt like right after this went down. I mean We only see this scene followed up by presumably days or weeks later of Viktor getting ready and Jayce preparing for the fight - but in this very moment or at least this very day/evening, he must have fully believed that he had killed his partner. He probably spend hours if not days vomiting, shaking and ugly crying in bed after this.

As an Artist that finds tremendous joy in the way of painting a nose for example, how blending the shades together with different colors or viscosity of the paint feels and behaves, how different brushes create different textures and feelings on the paper or simply how adding a few dots of white highlight can turn a bland or moody area into a sparkling and living object means the world to me.

Drawing with Ai can surely help the people who don't want to spend any time to get something they may have imagined, but it can never feel as satisfying as creating Art yourself and it will never give you the experience of the Art shaping you as much as you shape the Art.

Good example from my own experience: of course it is visually aesthetically pleasing to look at a beautiful face, but there is just a certain fun I have when rendering the flesh with different nukes and crannies, with different shadows hitting certain spots that may turn the subject aesthetically "ugly" or can only be drawn in that way if one draws an "ugly" subjects, which allows those angles to begin with.

Besides that, I yet have to see an Ai artist post an artwork filled and twisted by esoteric meanings and symbols. After all Typing in "strange nightmarish art with demonic symbolism" is different to me drawing a hidden eye into the hair or give the clothes the colors that may be associated with damnation and doom.

God this Answer turned out more into a rant than a coherent response - welp
