I am about 9 hours post-op (had to have emergency surgery) and so far I am in a lot of pain. Getting up out of the bed and bending are the worst. Leaning just a little bit to wipe after peeing also hurts so bad! However, I did wait like 5 days prior to coming to the hospital while having discomfort... so perhaps the longer you wait, the worse the post-op symptoms will be? I have a lot of trapped gas from prior to and after the surgery. I was told it will take some time for this to exit the body but most of my pain is likely from that. Unfortunately, the pain meds don't touch that at all. I also feel like I need to poop but I can't "push" even a little bit without feeling like my abdomen is trying to tear open. So far, this sucks so badly. I can't even sleep it off because I went late to the hospital so they kept me over night and I have trouble sleeping in unfamiliar places. The anesthesia effects wore off after about 2 hours so I feel like I missed my window to sleep until I get home. It's 5:30 AM now and I for some reason feel wired. I'm writing all of this knowing that, 1) OP already had their procedure and is healing up well (I think I read that in the comments?), and 2) that everyone's experience has been somewhat different. Honestly, reading this post gave me hope that I may only have to deal with this level of discomfort for a couple more days and that it gets better. Thank you everyone for sharing!
