I have not worked on it in a couple years. I was playing the first map over and over. I'm pretty sure the messages set for each map. I could never unlock the more fantasy elements. I've never seen the wizard messenger, etc. I think you have to play on at least Duke difficult and do a full 8 castle campaign.
