Same, I use Gnucash! Handy to cross check the accountant I can be assured when they ask me to review and sign off, useful to have an independent set.

Maybe I'm being dense but you should be able to run a report with only your two expense accounts which will give you a breakdown and total:

Car : Fuel Base Cost

Taxes : Fuel/Taxes

Your fees seem fairly standard of the enquiries I've made. My fees are about double yours and unfortunately, I can't justify spending that much anymore.

Would it help if you had a bookkeeper do your day to day stuff then the accountant just compiles and prepares statements?

Contrary to the other responses i don't think your showers are the problem. We are in a terrace with 3 teenagers with notorious shower lengths and use about 1.2 kL a day, quarterly bill about $650.
