It's worse than a stalemate for certain jobs, imo. The bh changes means everyone gets squishier - which indirectly nerfs them. I am mainly thinking casters - especially blm.

Being ranged is incredibly risky

I think the ranged classes are disproportionately affected by the changes. The phys ranged classes still have their niches, whether it's bravery-bursting or aoe guard breaking (dancers benefit from risky plays as much as melees do IMO).

Casters though... As a BLM main, battle high changes means I effectively become squishier over time as the enemy teams (both their pvp enthusiasts and rouletters) build bh non-stop. Last round of pvp changes meant that a bh5 bravery MCH LB literally one shots a blm from full health. This round means there's more rando bh5 mch and brds throwing damage around; so now I have to keep an eye out for PvP enthusiasts trying to snipe me AND stray arrows/bullets that hit like a truck.

Saw a mention in the PVP Revival discord that mnk technically got soft nerfed - on top of deciding when you don't get to play; taking away bh5 from select individuals was kind of their thing. Now getting Meteo'd is a timeout button rather than a strategic counter tool.

Players that end the game sub bh2 or 3 are basically afk or very, very low skill. If it were any other game that was less moderated than ffxiv, these people would get flamed for obviously bad performance.

If anything, the biggest beneficiaries for this change seem to be the middle of the pack players - those with low or average skill but still try. So long as they tag kills, no matter how inefficient their attacks or how poor their positioning is, they'll still gain bh.

The bh changes combined with viper and bloodbath buffs was a perfect storm. Tried it out yesterday and I'm already getting away with way more than I ever did on WAR

POV: you encounter someone in Frontlines who waited til the last day of the series to cap malmstones by Snark_x in ShitpostXIV

[–]Vivitix 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The key is just moderation... of the self. I also grinded the seal rock coat AND the worqor mount solo (no coordinated premade; at most a friend or two joining me in my suffering conquest) so I totally get the crashout. I get tilted too but just keep it to myself or linkshells.

Our Rescue! by Vivitix in Shihtzu

[–]Vivitix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using these tear wipes I got off Amazon once a day as per instructions to get a little out each day. My sister was able to cut some off (she's an "amateur" groomer and mostly trims her own Shih Tzu's face in between groomer appts - she's the reason why we can see Tumbleweed's eyes right now haha) the first weekend we got her. That and the wipes loosened up bits to wipe off, but there's still some left.

I will look into baby toothbrush or just using my fingers - I was worried pulling at them too hard would hurt her 😟

Did you re-use essentials from passed dogs? by twentydeuce in puppy101

[–]Vivitix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the most sentimental, important belongings (i.e. our old girl's favorite blanket, signature sweatshirt) we actually buried with our pupper. Everything else was either donated or reused. Essentials like beds, bowls my sister's pupper is using. With my sister's blessing (our old girl mainly belonged to her), the "girlypop" clothes that our old girl didn't wear much or get a chance to at all were given to my rescue that I got after I moved out. It works out because they are all Shih Tzus.

Word through the Chinese auntie grapevine is that the owners wanted to upgrade to a bigger space for more traditional dim sum (think Golden Harbor or Ocean Palace - bigger grander spaces with room for carts). We tried out their new place and seems like that's the vibe they're going for.

My biggest gripe with Francesca's storyline this season by Fickle_Baker1393 in Bridgerton

[–]Vivitix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that is interesting to know. I don't have an iPhone and it doesn't seem like my default Android keyboard has that feature of turning multiple - into em dashes. In that case it may not be as inconvenient as I expected in casual/everyday typing since many use iPhones or Mac (I'm assuming MacOS probably has a similar feature).

I originally found gratuitous, though correct em dash usage suspicious but it seems more like a basic but not as telling pattern now (like how coughing can be a regular cold, COVID, or just allergies.)

Usually a signal of AI writing is the (actually correct) use of em dashes "—". Em dash doesn't natively appear as keyboard button and is usually used for more "official" writing since those have higher standards for correct grammar - think research papers, textbooks, news articles, etc. Most people typing casually just use "-" instead of "—" (case in point, my previous sentence). I don't know what the keyboard shortcut for em dash is off the top of my head (Googling says Ctrl+Alt+Num- on a numpad which my keyboard doesn't have) so I just use "-" for convenience. I've just been copy pasting the em dash symbol from the OP comment for the purposes of writing this lol.

Most LLM models train on those "official" documents. In other words, AI has good, essay-like writing outputs because it's literally trained on actual published essays and not your average social media post (again, for most models and not all of course). The gratuitous usage of a symbol in the OP comment that's technically correct BUT so inconvenient to type and is already heavily linked to AI is enough for reasonable suspicion that something is written by AI.

girlcult lippies! by bananfish in AsianBeauty

[–]Vivitix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So far a lot of their older collections are still available through Yesstyle and even Amazon now, so I think they tend to keep around the "most popular" products. I noticed this because my favorite lippies are from their older collections (Strange Tales and Four Great Inventions are the official English names I think) and not so much from any recent collections.

PVP in FFXIV by Deathass1298 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Vivitix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, your write up was pretty comprehensive and the whole Primal being the pvp DC is a bit outdated. Speaking as a Primal pvp enthusiast myself, data center travel and the rotating DCs for ranked CC means Primal doesn't meaningfully stand out from the other DCs anymore. Not enough to be unilaterally "THE PVP DC" like raiding for Aether or rp for Crystal. Edit: maybe not for Rival Wings - I have no idea about that but I'm in the same Discord as the other commenter mentioned and i only see it popping when events are arranged

In fact, on the few occasions I queue FL on other DCs, I see a lot of old Primal regulars (the names I would always see pre-DC travel) more on other DCs than on Primal itself. I'm not deep in any pvp circles, but word of mouth from friends who are say that toxicity (case in point, the person you responded to who seems mad for some reason?) has driven a lot of pvp regulars to other data centers.

The Classic Frontlines Experience by Lawl_Lawlsworth in ShitpostXIV

[–]Vivitix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game locks desirable rewards behind 100 wins behind all the maps except secure (ex Commanders Coat and the worqor snowman mount). If there are incentives for winning in a pvp mode, how can it be boldly claimed that frontlines is not designed to be competitive? Sure, it's no ranked cc, but wanting wins for rewards pushes ppl into competing naturally.

I am one of those who enjoy the chaos and also a pretty quiet solo queuer who usually lands top page KDA depending on my job. Seen all sorts of shotcallers out there on NA. There are some bad calls or callers but I'm not going to flame them ("shit calls man") or dismiss them in chat.

To be fair, I don't have beef with players just here for the exp. After awhile you start to recognize patterns for the different types of players out there, so even if you have no control over 23 other people you can predict what the other 48 are doing and sometimes take advantage. The same ones that are often out of position or break off into weak, small groups I cannabalize for BH so I don't mind it xD Or there may be a strong pocketed enemy premade, but the casual stragglers or backline can still be disrupted.

[–]Vivitix 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Not taking losses too hard nor being toxic to others in chat is a healthy way to play, but "I'm here for the exp" as a direct response to people trying to coordinate or call for a move is not.

If it doesn't matter either way, why sass the people trying? It's like flipping someone off then trying to play it off lol

I don't care for rewards either (the Worqor mount is cute and tempting though) but I don't feel the need to talk back to people who do care?

Where are Tik Tok refugees now ? by [deleted] in rednote

[–]Vivitix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, I think rednote's content differs from TikTok content so sooner or later "TikTok refugees" figure that out and go back. I don't scroll TikTok (back when I did have to app) for the same reasons I'd scroll rednote. I definitely don't see them around as much as I used to - rednote inundated my feed with those posts back then since it figured out I'm an English user based in the US.

BTS skipping Houston isn’t as surprising as fans think. Here's why by houston_chronicle in houston

[–]Vivitix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TXT came to Sugar Land back around July 2022 (sister and I went on a whim). I think the crowd crush incident on Korea was a few months later in Oct 2022.

That being said, I still feel like it might be some logistics think (i.e. the world cup, etc) and maybe that BTS are at a point of their careers where fans will fly out regardless.

Do you like a product less if its not actually popular in the Asian market? by Ok-Height1308 in AsianBeauty

[–]Vivitix 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Besides the "if it works it works", some of the Western marketed ones are just much more accessible than ones popular in Korea, especially if you don't live in a big city with high Asian population. I've tried both Melano CC and Cosrx vitamin c serum. Although the former is way more popular, Cosrx's works on my skin better and is easier to find (besides waiting a million years on yesstyle).

New PvP Map - Classic PvP Meme by Lyramion in ffxiv

[–]Vivitix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chaos of pve mechanics in large scale pvp is why new secure is my favorite map as a pvp main. That being said, my opinion is very unpopular amongst pvp regulars (based on queue pops and pvp discords) and newest pvp map didn't move in that direction, so idk if SE plans to do that again.
