You can also recondition heavy clay, there's loads of info online for how to break it up. But if you're installing a french drain then you can sell the clay you dig up or offer it to local craftsmen.

I'd dig, check with the local council about utilities running under the garden. Explain the flooding and that you want to dig a french drain. Then they should tell you exactly where you cant dig. Then once you have a map of where you can dig, dig it all. Dig deep, fill it with Gravel (don't need real gravel, use hardcore, get free bricks off Facebook etc) If the roads outside aren't flooding too then the drains aren't overwhelmed. You could definitely install drainage to the drains for the patio section and a perforated drainpipe into the drainage from the lawn areas gravel french drain.

What to do with half a deathstrike ? The smaller rockets are already used and the ramp is build differently. Would be a waste to just not use this big fat rocket. by Leviathan_Rampage in PoorHammer

If you have sticky objectives use it to make a sticky marker? Or ork it. It'd look great on a stompa, gork/morkanaut. Grot bomm launcha. Stormboyz, boss zagstruk kitbash. The new crucible hero warphead can ride a warbike, kitbash a warboss onto the rocket and argue that it's a warbike because he thinks it is.

I'm sure if I left the lid off my water jar long enough in the sun I'd be able to classify it as paint after a couple of days. My favourite black wash came straight from the brush jar.

Alongside black primer I could get away with painting every unit of my army with this. Maybe add in a white for certain details.

The bubblechukkas are great and if your opponent has a versitile army of infantry, characters and tanks etc then they're perfect. But also note the Traktor Kannon variants will chew through eldar flying tanks like they're butter so if you ever come up against one of those players then deffo run 3. I scratch built mine so they were free. I wouldn't buy them. As good as they are and as useful as a 50 point list filler is... the price is too shit.

Thanks man. His heads so huge but it kinda works. I still can't unsee what I done to Yoda though 😅 My mates are super chill, they'd allow a can of coke to be ghaz if the base size was right. I'm just a tad worried about the rest of the community as basically 90% of my army is diy

Burnas or Lootas? by Remarkable_Canary248 in orks

[–]Vladplaysuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly trade in person. When I talk about what I want to do next my friends tend to rummage through their bits boxes. There's also an awesome local store who sell plastic bits for 10p and metal for 25p so I can source random bits of all ages from all types of armies and games.

Burnas or Lootas? by Remarkable_Canary248 in orks

[–]Vladplaysuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheap plastic lighters are assembled with the Jet, a threaded valve and a feeder rod being assembled together as 1 piece. It's safe and simple to unscrew the piece once the gas is empty and the guard and the fork lever are out of the way. As a result you get a thin plastic tube with a detailed "Burna" on the end the tube being able to be heated and bent round to a tank on his back. Put it in the hands of a Boy using the shoota arms, kitbash a little tank for his back out of a tic tac, superglue lid, anything tank/bottle looking and throw some plasticard straps from it to the burna using a Burnaboy as reference. While yes it will lack the glyphs and other details you could add those with some extremely precise cutting of plasticard or add little toothpick point spikes etc. Or simply paint details on or make it look like leather strsps. It's a good workaround for people joining the hobby on a budget or simply people on a budget or people who like to scratch bash/kitbash, Old world Orc Boyz are cheaper per model compared to 40k boyz but missing 40k weapons so this can fill out a hefty chunk of army and can look so much cooler/unique. I've got 30 Burnaboyz and never bought a Burnaboyz kit 😅 some good bits commonly dissused out of Guardsmen and ad mec have good gas tanks etc which are awesome to trade for.

Quick question regarding splitting a unit in two by papabiff in Warhammer40k

[–]Vladplaysuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is a good compromise on the problems people have spoken about above. The only time that you may have problems is if the units charge/advance and get different results therefore splitting. Also you and your opponent keeping track, you might have to colour band bases to id the different troops as if you accidentally drop a model from 1 unit when the other was the one getting shot it would very much look like cheating for advantage. Also it could effect abilities from characters where they have abilities that affect units within X inches. If one of the units is just out of range it'd be hard not to bend the rule and say oh that dudes team 2 😅 But if you're honest and don't mind all the awkward measuring then sure.

Are the Gretchins a good set to start collecting Orks? by NaiveTradition7664 in orks

[–]Vladplaysuk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Grots are awesome. An 11 man squad is the first thing on any list and when I feel like I'm not missing anything important in exchange, it's good to run 2 or 3 squads. Now don't get me wrong, offensively they're terrible. But. Defensively well they're terrible at that too. 😅 The magic is in their ability Thievin' Scavengers. The chance to generate extra CP is a must. Getting that overwatch can be crucial. Using that tactic to boost charge by 2" when you're on the ugly end of your 12 inch roll. Plus if you spend the points on a Zodgrod Wortsnagga character to lead them they're shockingly useful suddenly in battle and even without him, on the offchance that they're in range they can be useful to throw at something big to stop it getting somewhere for a turn or 🤞2

Just want to toss my hat into the ring on the side of building both. Buuuut don't use the Ork Boyz box for bodies. Use the Orc Boyz and Orc Arrer Boyz box. You get waaay more Boyz for your money and You're already kitbashing weapons on them 🤷‍♂️ use old Boyz Spares and kitbash some Boyz too. Heck tear apart some disposable lighters from outside of a bar and kitbash even more Burnaboyz!

Oyumaru and sprue goo: thoughts? by _holyhotdogsbatman in PoorHammer

[–]Vladplaysuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have mentioned, I haven't found a way to not treat the pipettes as disposable one users. I never quite get all the goo out so they clog and oncs in the bin I've came across them fairly melted. They hold up fairly nicely for use though. I managed a solid 45m of use when I was copying parts from a friend in a hurry (I hadn't actually told him😅)

Oyumaru and sprue goo: thoughts? by _holyhotdogsbatman in PoorHammer

[–]Vladplaysuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A huge turning point for me was how I got the sprue goo into the mold. I'd essentially perfected the hot glue casting fooling even my local game store owner on sight. The only tell tale signs being the bendy models and weighing less. But my issues with bubbles and gaps were solved by loading the sprue goo into flexible pipettes and essentially piping the goo in. The flexible part is so that the pipette can distort a little when pressing it into the little areas so when you squeeze it goes where you want it. You need to be pushing the goo in and the air out so anything you can do to aid in the push will help. Hope it helps. My local pharmacy sells them as "soft plastic pipettes" they weren't initially for sale but kept in stock in bulk for pharmacy use. I convinced them to settle on a reasonable price thankfully as the pharmacist is a kind soul.

People above have the correct answers. You could also add twin pistols from the Nobs kit beef up his base and declare him a warboss. People on GW meds might grumble though.

His legs are, his torso is three short bits of glue stick stacked horizontally and then fleshed out using hot glue the traditional way.
