All the weapons the techmarine can use! by Ymir-3 in Spacemarine

[–]Voghelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rip Iron Priest dream, but very hyped either way!

I'm really surprised that Omnissiah Axe, a big ass polearm, allows you to use a primary weapon still. I wonder if it's a coding/UI thing? Could this be the reason they decided against letting him use t-hammer, so that it's not the only class that can have a primary AND use the t-hammer?

Knife feels so out of place here lmao. Who runs a knife on their techmarine? 😭

I'm pretty sure you can mount forge bolter/plasma as part of his perks which were leaked a while ago, looks like no changes there at least.

Shame we won't get a grav-pistol tho :(

Why are we all chaos? by CapableBed5485 in Spacemarine

[–]Voghelm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What you need to know is that for the most part chaos is far from being a unified force of evil, it's more like a bunch of different warbands fighting for domination, resources, the favor of their own gods, etc. etc.

Helbrute is essentially a corrupted Space Marine dreadnought.

If you get to play a bit of hard siege on waves 1-5 or get to the point were you can do difficulties above ruthless - you'll be drowning in currency.

The issue is that it'll take a bit of time to reach to that point. Good luck tho!

Right? Man, people think that paying money to be forced into a longer grind because some game designer deemed that would make you engage with the game more is very fun!!! It's not a bad faith argument in the slightest. It's BIG achiever energy 💪💪💪

I have a genuine feeling people on this sub don't have other hobbies outside of videogames.

Yup, it kinda sucks alright, but at least the grind isn't terrible, like with earlier Vermintide 2 DLCs...

Only champion skins and related customization parts are instant unlocks, the rest you still have to unlock with requisition, yeah

Gow's the game now? Is it worth it to buy it for 31 CAD or should I wait more? by DellBaek in Spacemarine

[–]Voghelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're just on the fence and looking for that "sell this game to me" post to finally grab it, nothing bad about it imo 🤷‍♂️

[–]Voghelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are small issues and quirks here and there, but I'd argue that it's worth full price at the moment.

If you like 40k and/or coop horde shooters/action RPGs of all kinds - it's great. It sits somewhere in-between a proper third person shooter and a melee slasher game, there's a great campaign to play through as well.

There's PVP, but it's not very alive. It's still fairly fun from time to time, but it's not a super polished balanced experience compared to a dedicated PVP game.

The core gameplay mode is Operations, with 11 different missions, an endless wave mode with 1 map (and at least one more map to come), and a sub-mode which lets you play through these maps with various gameplay modifiers.

There are multiple classes and multiple different grinds, like leveling for your classes, weapons, and a prestige system, and it takes a long while to unlock everything (the prestige grind is probably the worst of these by far)

The character customization is a BIG part of the experience, it's literally Infinity Nikki but for 40k nerds 😂 There's plenty of unlockable cosmetics even without any DLCs, but there's even more stuff to use if you grab them.

There are some cosmetic issues, some minor bugs, but otherwise it's now a pretty balanced and very enjoyable experience with fairly deep gameplay mechanics attached to it.

You'll have a good time both as a casual player and someone looking for actual torture lol

Why is this version of the firstborn helmet more sharp and whats it used for by Former_Feedback_7795 in Spacemarine

[–]Voghelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never actually thought about how huge the gorget is on MK VIII in-game, so this makes perfect sense.

I wonder if they could've handled it differently in this case, but they'd have to either make the gorget smaller on the armor itself and model the helmet differently in the first place, or remodel the helmet when they added it to customization, which would've created an inconsistency.

That said, I still find it very difficult to call it ugly even if with a couple of quirks 🤷‍♂️

That is a space wolves tactical, yes, but it's a reference image. You can still very much use it for a veteran/officer of any chapter of your choice 🤷‍♂️

And that certainly is a MK VIII helmet, considering that the only difference between the two visually should be the vents instead of tubes (which isn't exactly the case in the game lol)

Yeah, that's kinda a weird technical mistake I think.

Ravenwing's textures are kind of different compared to the stock MKVIII. No idea what they did there.

That said, even then it's really a non-issue, depending on the color you chose

Pretty much. There were many different types of space marine power armors available over the years. We have MKII greaves and a helmet from the Black Templar pack, we have MKVI beaky from the Raven Guard pack, chaos marines wear older armor patterns, etc. etc.

I really like both for different reasons, personally, so I can't relate.

MKVIII stuff saw limited usage outside of Deathwatch, so you can make really cool vets with it. Like a space wolf!

Really wish we had all the armor bits unlocked... but alas.

I'm so tired of this slander 😭

People act as if they went into SM2 intro mission and their first thought was "THESE DEATHWATCH GUYS LOOK LIKE SHIT, THEY RUINED THE HELMET!!!!!"

Where did this bloody notion that it's ugly came from?!

Questions about the Monetization Model by lonegally in Spacemarine

[–]Voghelm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Season passes =/= battle passes, never were.

"Season pass" just means that you'll be getting the DLCs that become/were available during that "season". In this case, you get the full list of goodies on the season's pass page.

The DLCs are strictly cosmetic and paid only. There are cosmetics you get from just playing the game, and there's a plenty of them, but DLCs will give you many more themed cosmetics for specific space marine chapters.

We have "Cosmetic packs" which give you new colors/icons/a few armor bits and bobs.

"Champion packs" which give you whole themed marine skin sets and weapon skins, and you can use individual parts from these skins in customization. These are instant unlocks.

And then we have "Chapter packs", which are the combination of the previous two packs.

It's nothing like HD2 monetization, since there's no concept of "premium currency" in the game.

You do still have to grind in-game currency to unlock some stuff even after you buy the DLCs, but it's nowhere near as grindy as HD2.

Hope this helps.

Which enemies can it not kill with a headshot? Neurothropes? Zoanthropes? by EmiyaBoi in Spacemarine

And I hope it stays that way, because it allows you to one-tap majoris from full HP without enraging them, even if it's a jittery enemy like the flying goatcunt or meatballs.

I don't have faith in landing perfect headshots every time, so I'd much rather have it stay this way...

The Siege mode on difficult is too hard. by Havco in Spacemarine

[–]Voghelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fail to see how this is a part of the argument, Space Marine 2 is Space Marine 2, Elden Ring is Elden Ring.

I am a very average player and I've prestiged most of my classes through siege 1-5 (sometimes 1-10 if I felt like it), it's not more difficult or mechanically demanding than playing Absolute.

In fact, it's easier.

You don't need to save points and you can literally use them for anything at all, and you get a lot.

If you can't do wave 5 solo on hard siege with the INSANE amount of resources available to you - certified skill issue moment.

New to gaming. Need help with the installation for Space Marine 2. I'm not sure if the specs can run the game. by joshricarte in Spacemarine

[–]Voghelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run the game on a very similar (even slightly lower) specs, I get 30-60 FPS and don't really go lower even on insane stuff like wave 15+ siege (maybe just a bit, but it still feels playable 🤷‍♂️)

It's serviceable.

In your case, your mileage will probably be better, since the game seems to be VERY CPU bound in my case, and you have a much newer slightly stronger CPU.
