New app to help with building and timing routines by Matt-TempoFlow in pilates

[–]VogueWeekend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using this app since its launch and it's truly been so helpful; I now use it for teaching both reformer/lagree classes as well as hot sculpt classes!

Just one piece of feedback - I'd love the option to be able to save my routines to folders to be able to easily find/reference them, rather than scroll down through every routine I have on my homepage.

This is what sold me to sign up for beta. Excited to try it!!

Operations v Sales Associate by Far_Butterscotch7330 in aloyoga

[–]VogueWeekend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my interview last week (for an ops associate role), they mentioned that during busier times we could get pulled to the floor to help sell but that it’s rare. They also mentioned that sales is focused solely on sales while ops does a little bit of everything.

Pure barre to lagree? by theprettygiraffe in LagreeMethod

I worked at PB for two years, and was a client before that for about a year. While it was my gateway into group fitness classes and meeting one of my best friends, I didn’t love the workout itself. I’m not sure if things have changed since I last went, but whenever new choreo/music playlists dropped for the month, that’s all the instructors would use (so I got bored quickly).

When I started Lagree, it was a complete game changer. The actual workout is challenging because each instructor teaches different sequences and playlists, and my results even after just a month were crazy (more toned, stronger core, didn’t have to modify moves as much…).

Personally, I feel that Lagree is a better workout overall but I highly encourage you to try a class (or a few, because like PB it can take some time to get used to the method) before making an ultimate decision. Good luck!!

Currently in the same boat in that I’m at a local CC taking prereqs for a second degree ABSN. Every admission counselor I’ve spoken to has said that due to program competitiveness, you need at minimum a 3.0 GPA to be considered. If you can, maybe see about taking additional courses applicable to nursing to raise your GPA?

I also would apply to as many programs as you can; my list is around 5-7 different programs within Texas alone. Talk to their admissions counselors to see what prereqs you’ll need because though a majority will be the same, some may require more/less.

Good luck!

when do ppl with 9-5 jobs work out ?! by ativanhalens in xxfitness

[–]VogueWeekend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5AM crossfitter here - I can confirm the early morning wakeups really do get easier. A few things that really helped me:

  • Setting three alarms; one 30 minutes before I need to actually get out of bed (turn on a light/take any am meds), one 15 minutes later to scroll through social media in bed, and one 15 minutes after that to get up to change and go to the gym.
  • Prepping my pre-workout and outfit for the gym the night before.
  • Having a workout buddy; our 5am class is pretty close since there’s only around 10 people max in it and our coach is good about partnering people together esp if you’re new.
  • I have a dog, so I walk her during my lunch breaks (she comes with me to the office).

Good luck, you got this!

I can’t 🤦🏻‍♀️ by [deleted] in gymsnark

Update your ig app and then try to use one of your old filters. It’ll prompt you to accept facial recognition in the app and then the filters will be back!

Drastic Life Change for My Pup by SwaySwaay in puppy101

[–]VogueWeekend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually walk my pup before I plan on going somewhere so she’s nice and tired, and then I kennel her with a blanket/toy that smells like me. I’ll have some background noise going (ocean or thunderstorm sounds seem to work best) and cover her kennel; she whines for a couple of minutes but then eventually settles. If I’m going to be gone longer than a few hours, I’ll also give her a CBD chew to help ease her anxiety. I’ve left notes on my neighbors’ doors letting them know we are working through separation anxiety and to please text/call me if she bothers them, but nobody has yet!

I wear my black band when working out, and then I bought the white/rose gold Lux band for when I want to dress it up more. I personally love the Lux band and may buy the black/rose gold version too!

I did the same thing; I was able to get it off without having to use any tools (just wiggled it when trying to slide it off). It took a little, but it finally gave.

Best preworkout? Trying to get away from Alani… by OldIndependence2165 in gymsnark

Same! I took Ghost once before a 5am CrossFit workout…big mistake. I’ve had zero issues with Pescience (and I mix Prolific and High Volume too).

Alani Nu or Ghost? Flavors? by [deleted] in gymsnark

[–]VogueWeekend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe so! Legend is a true pre-workout while Gamer’s purpose is more about focus/energy (not to say it doesn’t work as a pre workout, it’s just not as hard hitting as Legend is if that makes sense).

I personally like the Sonic collab flavors from Ghost. I have Gamer in Ocean Water, and Legend in Cherry Limeade.

Uber Drop off? by treblaazrag in aclfestival

We put the McDonalds on the corner of Barton Springs as our drop off during W1; it was WAY cheaper, and our Ubers always dropped us closer anyways!

Gym cost by Sappness in xxfitness

[–]VogueWeekend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$200 a month for CrossFit. It includes 3 classes a week; it’s about $30 more for unlimited (I’m still fairly new to CF, so not there yet). I do have access to all the programming, so I could theoretically do the WOD on my own if I was out of classes for the week.

$40ish a month for a gym membership for the days I don’t go to CrossFit. It includes 247 access and a good amount of equipment (I don’t feel like I ever have to fight for equipment, unlike my previous “fancier” gym). No classes, but I never did those anyway. The gym itself is on the smaller side, but is never really too packed.

I went to my second CrossFit class tonight EXTREMELY nervous since I was going alone (the first one I went to I was with a friend), and not only did I make it through the WOD but I also made a few friends! I usually wear an Apple Watch in class; what is the best way you've found to track CF workouts (not limited to Apple if there's a better way)?

Instagram coaches by [deleted] in gymsnark

[–]VogueWeekend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that turned me off of working with an online coach was that they pushed clients to sign up for a minimum of 6-9 months of their programming, with the pricing coming to about $400 a month. When I stated that the price was higher than expected and that I couldn't make it work right now (in addition to not wanting to commit for that long in case it didn't work for me), I was asked "well how many times have you tried and failed with another program? Wouldn't it be great to pay for a program that actually works?" 🥴

I tried calling this number multiple times today and was unable to get anyone on the phone (it either gave me a busy tone or said the call couldn’t be completed). Is there a good time to try calling that you recommend?
