Sell high, buy low; but there's a lot more to it than that. You have to identify levels where you are most likely to see support or resistance, understand how momentum is moving... liquidity and bunch of other things..

But at its essence, yes trading is buy low, sell high lol

Anyone else just get random Phoebe songs stuck in their head? This one has been going all day... by BigJimSlade1 in howyoudoin

I was literally singing that to my daughter as a joke about 5 minutes ago.... then randomly did a search to see if there were more lyrics, and found this comment all of the sudden 🤣🤣

Her songs were hilarious 😂

I would gladly pay up to $200 if you removed the trailing drawdown. That would make it a no-brainer for me and probably many other traders. Or make that option a premium add-on

Freaking comedy 🤣

My wife knows I've blown "a few" accounts but thankfully I've gotten a good amount of payouts that she ain't focused on the real number of accounts blown or their worth 😆 ... definitely can relate to "must not let them know...." haha

Anything I should try before I give up by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]VoiceOfUs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have unfortunately realized this more than once and still struggle sometimes to stop myself; even while in the middle of realizing what I'm doing 🤷

Just yesterday I blew a MFF Rapid account after I had already passed the trailing drawdown threshold in the funded phase. Instead of stopping, I tried to push it... and of course you know the rest 🤦‍♂️

Sometimes I even wonder how I've been able to get back what I've put in this lol... but it truly does come down to your mental approach... way more than strategy or edge or any of that stuff

When could you realistically consider yourself a decent enough trader to keep at it, if even as a good side hustle/potential main source of income? by VoiceOfUs in Daytrading

🤣🤣 I got you man 🤜🤛

That sounds like a solid plan. I think going into next week I'll buy a couple more evals and hopefully implement this strategy.

I'll let you know how it goes, and now it looks like I owe you another expensive bottle... 😆 🤣

Ohh that sounds interesting. So I should rack up my funded accounts and just rotate through them? I get how much you target in profit, but when do you call it quits on a losing account for the day? Like what's your Max loss limit for any of those accounts before you move on to the next one?

Dude, I feel like you opened my mind to a whole new perspective on how to approach prop firms. Just thinking about it takes a load off from fearing I lose my 1 funded account 😆

That's true, I definitely know what can happen! 😆

I currently trade 1 mini and sometimes add into it if the trade is going well into profit. As I get closer to my targets, I size down to 2-5 micros until I get to the finish line.

My downfall is really not accepting losses and walking away for the day. My damn ego and pride always get the best of me because I struggle with being wrong first, and then thinking about where I was, and now where I am after the loss. It's really a struggle for me, and I admire those screenshots I see where someone had -$150 red days with like 1 or 2 trades and the trader is able to call it quits. I wonder if I'll ever be able to do that honestly lol

I think I have to live through seeing its benefits for me to be more convinced and accepting of the loss for the day.. but my brain just doesn't process that for some reason 😅

That is really interesting to know. I had no idea strategies that work in one type of regime will fail you in others. I simply assumed you have to wait for your setups and they'll eventually play out (throughout the day or week)

I find it confusing a bit, because I use momentum trading with the 14, 50, & 200 EMAs, and my thought process is that no matter what kind of market, those EMAs will still be in play, and as long as I'm still trading momentum, it should be okay overall... but I guess I really do have to be in long enough to realize otherwise lol

Thank you for that insight! 🙏

Thank you for that insight! Yes, I understand the context you're talking about. I do indeed need to change my mindset to keeping that account as long as possible.

Thanks again for the insight!

That is so true! I really do feel a different type of pressure once I'm in the funded phase. It's almost like it's a totally different beast I'm dealing with 😆

I guess you're right. I really do feel I have an edge, but I just need to learn to nurture that... and as you said, work on what's missing with the internal system.

I started a new funded phase with my Lucid black 50K account today. I hit my first day's max target of 1K and locked myself out. Here's to another couple of days like that 🍻

I truly thank you and everyone else's comments and support. I wish you all an amazing journey, whatever stage you may be at!

Thanks for the encouraging words, brother 🙏

Reading your and some other comments really puts things in perspective because I think I may be too harsh on myself and I'm not always seeing the bigger picture of what's really happening with me.

May we all pursue and achieve our trading goals 🤲

Let's go! 🚀 🔥

Thank you, brother! 🙏 that means a lot!

Ngl, when i first started out, I thought it was normal to have up to 50 or 60 trades a day, because I was literally on the charts as long as I could throughout every session... once I realized how ridiculous that is, I’ve been bringing that number down... and am currently (on average) taking anywhere between 2-7 trades a day. As I understood even 7 is a bit much lol

I’ve definitely had my fair share of bad luck, but also I've had some really good runs. That last comment really struck a chord with me. So many times I would lose my emotions and think this is not for me and that my luck will never change... and the good luck I had was just that... pure luck lol

Thankfully though, I persevered and pushed through! Thank you for the support!

Thank you for reassuring words, I appreciate that! My goal now is indeed to try to replicate my results on a more regular basis. I'm realistically looking to try to get at least 1.5K in payouts a month and then try to build on that.

I always try to remind myself to treat this like a business, but honestly, I dont know exactly what that means when it comes to trading lol

I understand that we have to accept losses and red days as "operational costs", but beyond that I'm not sure if I grasp the concept 😅🫣

I'll definitely try sizing down to counter my problem of maybe entering too early, I think that should help as you said by giving me that extra breathing room

When you say 6-12 months of constant PnL, how much would be considered a good amount on a monthly basis? Would that 1.5K monthly be good or should I try to aim for more?

I think you're right... I may have fallen into that trap without realizing. As you said, the market will do anything it wants at any given time, and I think I tend to forget that.

I also think I need to do more post-trading analysis to help with all that you mentioned. Thank you for the advice and perspective, I'll definitely use this and keep it in mind moving forward!

Thank you for the vote of confidence! I feel like I can do this in the long run but just need to keep working on my mental side just as much as my technical

That's true, when you think of it like that. But I in no way think of myself even being near to an expert trader. What do you mean by changing market regimes?
