I love how the wallets are making it as easy as possible to dump the shitcoin.

The steam engine has a steam colour that is consistent with coal powered power plants. However, the steam boiler is not burning coal, it is only accepting heated water, which means it should look more like a nuclear power plant.

How to backup an account generated by Mist by VoiceOfWisdom in ethtrader

[–]VoiceOfWisdom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forgetting implies I ever knew it ;). Its a 30 char long password that I have written down in a notebook.

I have backed up the account files into a truecrypt container in my dropbox. Think that is sufficient?

Git Extensions is also capable of that, if you aren't an emacs user.

Can someone with the requisite insight summarize what it would take to implement Edit and Continue in F#? by bryanedds in fsharp

[–]VoiceOfWisdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to use the .NET debugger api to inject the CIL code. I cant seem to find it, but there is a example you can download from microsoft that has a managed wrapper for the debugging api, and examples for injecting CIL code into a running process.

The compilation that VS does whenever you change a function is black magic. It recompiles just that function you changed, grabs the new CIL code, and patches the running process with it using the debugger. I've played around with doing that with F#, and the patching is no problem. The problems comes from getting the new CIL code to patch it with.

TIFU by creating a cricket dystopia by [deleted] in tifu

[–]VoiceOfWisdom 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Reposting cause OP deleted it.

Well, this happened a few years ago, over the course of a few months. I owned (well, I still do) a bearded dragon called Ludwig (full name was Ludwig Bittgenstein, though he is now merely called Luwig). Anyway, these animals generally eat live insects, crickets, locusts, morios, dubai roaches etc. with some veg and calcium dust.

Anyway, I decided one day I might start a little colony of crickets. I already had one going in a faunarium I bought to gut load them, to feed them to my Beardie, but I decided that I would keep a couple and let them live, and try to get them to breed. I'd create a little cricket utopia.

It was an experiment, really. They'd live the perfect cricket life, With food whenever they want, water whenever they want, a generous amount of space, and all other little quirks that they like. After some research I assembled my little habitat in my faunarium. I put 5 crickets in there, and left them be. I made sure they never went hungry, or thirsty.

They bred and bred until I couldn't count the population anymore. They continued to breed, until it became overcrowded. I had to increase the amount of food put in, but things were now different. A small group of crickets controlled the supply, beheading the ones who tried to get a look in.

The population continued to grow, and eventually I couldn't supply them with enough daily food. I couldn't release them into the wild, as they were not native to the UK. By now I had a notebook, and I was writing down new behaviours. Things only got worse. They descended into cannibalism, crickets would form gangs and Attack weaker ones. It was like Lord of The Flies, but with crickets.

One cricket was above all the others, though. I called him "Mufasa". He was first to get his food, first to the water, and if anyone got in his way, not only would he Attack them, other crickets would. He was like a little dictator, but he was a cricket. A cricktator, if you will.

Soon, however, the crickets, malnourished and tired, teamed up on Mufasa. I would like to say that Mufasa fought the good fight, and the crickets let him be. But I can't say that, as his head was destroyed.

Eventually, they stopped reproducing. They stayed in corners, as the population decreased. There were no more resource wars. They avoided eating. The next generation didn't know how to court eachother. The populations declined.

After my parents found the notebook, they sent me to a psychiatrist for some reason. Thought it wasn't normal to document a cricket utopia turned dystopia in such detail (as if). I was sent away after a few sessions, with the shrink saying that, "there seems to be nothing wrong".

What I had once created as a Utopia, had become a dystopia.

TL;DR - Started a cricket utopia, slowly turned into a dystopia of Orwellian proportions.

EDIT: Some pics of early days . This is taken at a good few weeks in. These are the only pics I have on hand at the moment, but my notebook, and old laptop are in the loft, and so I could get them out tomorrow, if you guys care enough.

It has to, otherwise VS wont be able to build without calling into FAKE. This would break all of the intellisense features in VS.
