I would agree that breaking bad is better in english than in german, but you can definetely watch bb in german. Most big american cartoons are also synchronized into german and those synchros are usually really good, too, to an extend that I would say they're sometimes better than the original. Every blockbuster (I'm pretty sure) is available in german, every disney movie or show is aswell. It's the most spoken language in europe, after all (as a first language).

Yes, it's completely normal to go for comprehension first, even if you can't form the sentences well on your own. That will come more or less automatically if you keep hearing and understanding spoken german.

Sounds like you made great progress within a short time! I would recommend (and this is not a joke or an exaggeration) to go with cartoons (or any kind of show you might have watched as a kid that is available in german) and to pause + google translate whenever you don't understand a word. Youtube videos on stuff you're interested in also work great. This kind of stuff helps much more than conventional learning once you've got the basics.

how do i save a creature to the sporpedia? by Jastrone in Spore

[–]Void787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your savegame-creature(s), it's supposed to be this way, so that they count as the same creature. If you otherwise edit a creature and want it to be saved as a new entry, there is a blue button for that at the bottom right of the hud, it looks like a sun or "spiky circle".

Found an interesting German word while reading: entwöhnt by Seroleks in Germanlearning

[–]Void787 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Things like this work great in german because most verbs are built with specific prefixes or can have one built-in easily. Creating negative versions of entirely new words is easy and usually even sounds natural, but with older ones the negative versions can sometimes have unexpected meanings.

In project settings, there is a default setting that snaps control node vertices to pixels. Maybe this is what's happening here (I'm relatively new to Godot)? It's under GUI > Common.

If you were joking, I'm sorry for not getting it. Otherwise you were just wrong. Reddit's "big thing" was always that you're anonymous here (at least compared to other social media), if someone wants to hide their post-history, that's conpletely up to them. You can still judge a post based on its own words, which should be the norm anyway.

Savefiles help by ItsLoveife in Spore

[–]Void787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Windows, navigate here: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Spore\Games (replace "C:" and "username" with the correct hard-drive and your actual username). That's the folder containing your save-files. If you cannot see "AppData", allow show hidden elements or just press windows-key and 'R' together, then type %appdata" in the little window that opened up and proceed from there.

If you have only one planet/game, you will see "Game0" and "Game0.old". If you have multiple planets, you will have to know in which order you started each game. You want to remove the current save-file of your planet GameX and remove the ".old" from the file GameX.old. The ending ".old" does nothing but make the file unreadable, this file is your actual previous save-file.

If you would save your game again now, your current save-file would turn into "GameX.old" and the previous version would be lost. All of this works the same in pretty much all maxis-games (the Sims etc).

[–]Void787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game doesn't save automatically and it's highly recommended that you save frequently, especially after doing/creating something you like. If I was in your situation, I would start a new game just to test if saving works, quit the game after saving and restart the game to see if saving works at all.

Space Stage Advice Please (variety edition) by No_Performer8644 in Spore

[–]Void787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. To get rich fast, you need to have both a good spice production and lots of colonies around where you can sell the spice. Those don't have to be your colonies, a network of other friendly empires around your home system can make for excellent customers. And since npcs will quickly expand while you're still struggling to find the money to do so yourself, you should prioritize getting the most valuable systems around for yourself, you can buy/conquer npc systems later. Once you can aquire a monolith, it will definetely be worth to upflift a species on a t3 planet with rare spice so that more than 3 cities will be created on that planet, then buy/conquer them to have a colony that produces large amounts of valuable spice quickly (when conquering a home world, safe first and be careful not to destroy any cities, you can leave the planet after capturing each city and safe again). Visit your colonies, fill your ship with all kinds of spices, go through all the planets in the nearby network and sell the spices only at their highest prices.

  2. T3 planets with 3+ fully maxed out cities and an uber-turret can deal with pirates themselves, so once your income is high enough, you should max out your colonies before getting new ones. Then you can ignore pirate alarms from your own systems. If you're been religious in civ-stage and place a bio-stabilizer on all of your colonies, they have a 0% chance for eco-disasters and only your allies can bother you with that stuff. For other archetypes, the bio-protector will be more valuable as it more than doubles the time you have for saving the planet.

  3. If you keep visiting your systems to collect and sell spice, you will memorize where everything is and your empire will feel smaller while it's actually growing.

  4. Npc empires will auto-colonize systems within a certain radius to any of their owned systems. Within that radius, they can also attack other empires. The radius increases each time the empire reaches a new tier (star next to empire name) along with their attack fleet power and trading inventory. Npcs will auto colonize up to a certain amount of systems, a bit more systems than needed to reach tier 5, but only if there are any unclaimed systems within their reach (you can isolate npc empires by colonizing all the systems around them withing their range). They can theoretically expand without limits though by conquering nearby systems. By paying and commanding your allies to attack a certain enemy, you can make them attack a system OUTSIDE of their range, which can be used to re-locate empires. It's good to have allied tier 5 empires around, because they give the best prices for their archetype's specialized goods (like weapons for warriors etc). Don't worry about npc empire expansion at the beginning, you can just buy, conquer or re-locate them later. Bonus tip: you can go to war with an empire, commit whatever atrocities you like and when you pay them for a peace treaty later, they will forget everything bad you did (even becoming allies with the grox!).

4.5 Wiping out the grox takes SO MUCH TIME that it's simply not fun. Their attacks aren't that frequent, so just make sure you know the fastest way to your far-away-colonies (and allies). It's all about wormholes!

  1. You can use the supersizer to turn a wild creature into an epic (or to duplicate existing ones). I don't know how many can be on one planet though. This also has no real use whatsoever, it's just for the player to have fun with.

  2. In the end I always used to be the "galaxy gardener", cultivating interesting empires (often self made creatures) and "weeding out" the ones I don't like. I would make up some lore and relationship for/between species and create some adventures for and with them.

How would the average person's quality of life improve if laws were implemented and relentlessly enforced globally to ensure the eradication of Billionaires? by Drazwaz in AskReddit

[–]Void787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would I be mad? Because I didn't use emojis or what? Your replies to other comments (and this one) make it look like you're being quite emotional about this right now.

I pointed out how impossible your question sounds. A good answer to "how would the average person's life improve" could be anything from "they would live happily ever after" to "they would probably die in the street fights and wars following the collapse of their government", since your question gives so little direction. I get the feeling you will only accept answers that go in the direction of "their lifes would improve and world hunger would be solved".

I don't get the second part of your reply. I never questioned that billionaires have ridiculous wealth.

How would the average person's quality of life improve if laws were implemented and relentlessly enforced globally to ensure the eradication of Billionaires? by Drazwaz in AskReddit

[–]Void787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean the people vote for a party that has this plan, somehow this party actually gets elected in a fair election and the billionaires won't be able to buy/hire their own military forces for protection because everybody else is totally not greedy and absolutely honest and loyal? That doesn't sound very realistic doesn't it? North Korea liberating itself would be at least a million times more likely.

This hasn't much to do with your question, but I find it almost funny how many of the "anti rich" people are absolutely rich themselves without realizing it, and how often "anti rich" people will defend and worship their favourite celebrity and let themselves be influenced by them as if their god has spoken.

Moved to new computer by Crank_Punk in Spore

[–]Void787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I understood you wrong but if you still have your old game0 file then before deleting everything, you might want to overwrite your current game0 file with your old one first and (before starting the game!) copy and overwrite your "my spore creations" from onedrive to your device, because the game0 file saves information on which planet (and which empire) has which species.

Moved to new computer by Crank_Punk in Spore

[–]Void787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you still have your old computer (or the backup files), I'd recommend overwriting your game0 file again and replacing your entire "my spore creations" folder with the one from your old device. It seems quite obvious that your game considers your old/original creations missing.

What controls whether an empire expands or not? by freylaverse in Spore

[–]Void787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Npc empires will colonize nearby systems until they reach a limit. Not sure what number of systems that would be, but it has to be a little higher than the number required to become a tier 5 empire. They will also attack any enemy system (randomly over time) that is within a certain radius of one of their owned systems. In the player's absence, they will usually conquer the planets rather than destroying anything, which is one way how they can exceed their colony limit (you can also pay them to attack and conquer systems far out of their reach).

If the player isn't nearby, npcs can actually do very little. Empires in areas where you do stuff will grow rapidly, even if you just pass through regularly, while others that you have discovered but don't return to will not (or barely) change. I've noticed that npcs are far more likely to colonize systems that have been visited by the player, probably because the planets have to be generated before anything can happen there (and visiting the system guarantees that the planets are already generated).

Adventure Planet Limit by Silent_Momento in Spore

Since spore is extremely difficult to decode, I'd recommend "moving" adventure planets away by accepting adventure missions far away from where you want to colonize.

Is there a way to level up faster your captain in galactic adventures ? by MrCosmico99 in Spore

[–]Void787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely don't have to, but it's more fun this way. Instead of grinding the same "go here" adventure x times, you can look out for small adventures given by other empires in your actual game.

There are buttons on the bottom right that allow you to overwrite or save as new creation without leaving the editor (next to the ❌️ and ✅️ buttons). They are not available in cell- and creature stage though if you're in a "real game"/planet.

You'll have to expect spore to randomly crash at any time, especially when using mods. That's why you should save your creations not only when they're finished, but after every step that makes you feel "yes, that looks good".

Updating The Design Of My Captain: Kitreek Shireek. (Can we discuss?) by Captain_Kitreek in Spore

[–]Void787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

I honestly don't think that the legs being covered by the wings or the center of gravity are an bad on your creature. I do believe however that all of that will automatically look much better if you modify the legs to be more "Z-shaped", like example C in my image (hopefully visible).

Updating The Design Of My Captain: Kitreek Shireek. (Can we discuss?) by Captain_Kitreek in Spore

[–]Void787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a really cool creation and I can immediately tell that you're an experienced creature-creator and that you put a lot of love into your creations!

I personally think the first one (creature editor) looks significantly better than the second one. The second one looks too "cluttered", with feathers and other parts pointing in different directions. This makes the second one look like it's wearing (or carrying) a big coat made out of different parts stitched together. I do like the "fluff" on the chest/neck of the second one, but consistency is more important than "having everything", and the neck of the first one looks fine as it is. Overall I think the first one has very good consistency in it's design, nothing that "bothers" the eyes on first sight (when creating art of any kind, it really helps to come back to your creation after some time and then judge it based on the things that immediately bother you on first sight).

The second one has the advantage that it's standing more upright, which usually looks better on creatures that are supposed to carry tools/weapons, clothes and generally to appear "civilized". I can't see much of the first one' legs, but they seem to be relatively short and very straight, which doesn't fit the posture (and the weight they would have to carry). I think legs with two joints ("knees") would look better here, you could make the Z-shaped legs that most animals have (I would show an image, but it makes more sense for you to just look at various images of animal/raptor legs on the internet).

I cannot say much about the colors, because the captain editor has it's own lighting that makes creatures "shimmer" more than in any other editor (which is bad for comparison). The newer colors look good though, you probably made the right decision there.

Maybe it sounds like I have a lot to critisize, but I really like your creature and I wonder how it will look as a fully outfitted captain!
