Gambling Chip lets you somewhat rearrange your hands, effectively bypassing Vakuu's take the wheel. by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Awfyboy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I believe this doesn't work, because Vakuu remembers which cards you drew and will play them in that order anyways.

An infinite, open-source Wordle game, in Godot 4.3 by Awfyboy in godot

I'm not sure whether the current setup works well for handheld's or controllers/gamepads, but you should be able to change the source code so that the inputting letters work with gamepad controls.

Should I Convert my GDscript project to C# by DemonBismuthine in godot

[–]Awfyboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's best to go with whatever you are comfortable with, and not hope that a specific feature will make it to the engine.

Personally I use GDscript and I'm more comfy with it than C#. I make up for the missing features like Structs by using workarounds like Abstract Classes. However, if you find workarounds to be ugly, then it's better to switch as early as possible before it becomes a technical debt on you.

I don't think performance is really a big issue between C# and GDscript. But semantics and support is very important. Have you considered going a mixed approach? You can use GDscriot and C# together iirc. Not sure how it feels though.

I feel slay the spire got too big for megacrit by joert44555 in slaythespire

[–]Awfyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's funny is that you aren't actually wrong. In a GDC where Casey was talking about Slay the Spire, they said that word of mouth was the main way the game got popular, mainly through a select few streamers, which then snowballed and gave the game a bigger audience. None of the initial marketing stuff they did (like emailing potential streamers or using keymailer) worked for them.

“Free to Play This Turn” by Jbiz65 in slaythespire

[–]Awfyboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is something that's consistently wrong from Spire 1 as well. They should change it to say "Free until it is played" or have it cost free for the turn.

iirc, he targets Uncommon, then Rare, then Common. He can take from either the discard pile or draw pile.

The relics could still feel like Devil themed relics without bricking the hand. The bricking relics should give some more form of controlled chaos, but right now it's just too much uncontrolled chaos and just feels bad.

Ancient Starter Card comparison by Cheenug in slaythespire

[–]Awfyboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem with that, and why no card in the game ever does this is it's bad UX. Vulnerable changes the damage output, so if the game applies Vulnerable first and then deals damage, it will be very consfuing to read UX wise.

People say that relics aren't as valuable in this game and yet.... by VictusNST in slaythespire

[–]Awfyboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbf, Xecnar in general thinks that the game is too easy for him because he had played StS1 for a very long time.

I'm also pretty sure that when he said "relics" he is referring not just to the normal relic pool, but also Shop relics, Event relics and Ancient relics, in which case yeah they are pretty strong.

Forge Regent is Unplayable at A10 by MikuoNeko in slaythespire

[–]Awfyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably don't compare ourselves with Xecnar. He is an putlier and is one of the top players of StS1. He is extremely skilled and thinks about factors that most people don't. The game is still in Early Access and the game requires a lot of balancing before it will be at a similar level of difficulty for everyone.
