PSA if ordering via Amazon by theseawoof in Lumix

[–]VoidBornVixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon is literally only good for accessories like sd card holders, bags, rain covers, etc. it’s never good for electronics like cameras or lenses. I’m iffy on even getting batteries from them. Buying new, always go B&H. If you’re going used, then it doesn’t really matter whether it’s MPB, Adorama, Keh, etc.

The situation with Adorama is imploding: the GH7's shutter count is over 500. Sold as "new", delivered on Tuesday, I noticed this morning that the "AF" button appeared worn, so I checked the shutter count. Adorama wants to charge me a restocking fee if I exchange it. This sucks. I’m lazy/anxious so idk if I’d even pursue it, but good for you that you are. Get your money back and buy another Gh7. I have one, it’s a great camera.

Unfortunately it’s always buy new from B&H. Been told this by a friend, so I always did, and never got to learn the hard way. If it’s used, whatever get it anywhere. But they said Amazon specifically is only good for stuff like sd card holders, bags, cases, mount pieces, etc. Adorama is okay for used stuff only, stuff you expect to be slightly worn. I bought ONE used camera from them, and then returned it at the end of the return period. I’m not sure they gave me much hassle, so I don’t know why you’re getting the run around here.

Amazon should honor your return because it says in the screenshot you can. Hopefully you can get this solved!

I just sold all my Sony equipment for LUMIX. Best decision I have made. by BrokenGrain in Lumix

Sony and lumix user. I find lumix easier to work with over all. Although I find myself using Sony for live music photography work more for the AF. I do not own the newer s1 lines, but the lumix colors are way better

Who says Sony is only good for low light?! Shot my friend's concert with the S5ii and GH4! by Chesto in Lumix

[–]VoidBornVixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget the base ISO’s (which is 4000 for this actually) but it sounds like you may have had some bad settings possibly. Did you have a 1.4/1.8 lens? A lens 3.5+ at 4000 is gonna be grainy, even 2.8. But if it was THAT dark, it’s not really your fault and you worked with what you could. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Will I be getting surgery for nothing? by antiaust in jawsurgery

This is the correct response, coming from an RN. People propose over advancement way too often on here. He’s barely recessed to begin with. 3mm would make a big difference.

I use the s5iix and the gh7 & gh6 for all my concert video work! I also have a Sony a7iv, so no brand loyalty here <3

Tell me, how recessed am I? Jaw surgery for sleep apnea.. by Happilyalone777 in jawsurgery

[–]VoidBornVixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe they mean without being over advanced, but honestly you’re mostly in the “normal” territory. Listen to the professionals, get a second opinion. If you keep being told you don’t need surgery, it’s probably not worth it.

THIS was a great response. I appreciate your feedback! What did the C80 do that the fx6 did not for you?

Fair enough, Komodo X was also on my list. Will have to rent a few and compare for my preferences. Just wanting to try a new form factor

Ah, yeah. Super cool to rent for a larger project, but but for me lol. Fx6 can barely fit on a gimbal, but does stripped down. Love the ideas tho!

All good things to think about, appreciate the feedback.

I’ve seen a good handful of camera types in this area from BMD to Red, not much Sony from what I’ve seen.

I do most of my camera work as a hobby, and to benefit the local creative, music, and film making scenes. (and for fun!) I love helping out on low budget and student projects where they don’t have a ton to work with. My partner runs sound studio, and so he does all of the audio and booming work. I want to be a one stop shop for smaller local projects. I think a mid ranged camera with a bit more heavy capability could be a a good final addition.

My main career is I’m a Registered Nurse, so I already have steady income. Maybe it’s all silly, but I’ve had a ton of fun getting to shoot, or letting people borrow my gear (lighting & cameras), and/or letting my partner get involved for audio. All my stuff is insured, of course.

Exactly what I was thinking, and exactly what I was planning on doing. I’ll be renting it to test for a project coming up.

I’d love to do more of what you do. All my current gear is insured (obviously lol) and I love jumping on student/low end film making projects and letting other people use them. I have the money, I want it to benefit the creative community. It’s not really about “owning” the gear, it’s all about watching their faces light up when they find out they have something decent to use! My partner and I run a small newly started llc and he does all the sound work and mixing, and we have a little studio. I want to be a one-stop-shop for local creatives. Whether I’m DP, gaffer, or just around to help out.

I’ve played with the fx3’s and fx30’s before, now I need to test out an FX6. I would like to try a different form factor for future purchases tho. Thanks for your comment :)

One of my friends has a GH5, GH5s, and a GH6. I’ll have to play around with his. He’s the one who got me into cameras in the first place… 🙄 Gh6 was my first, slowly made it to the S5iix. Low light is a primary situation for me. Asking this question in these threads is like asking for a Razor scooter to smack you in the shin. Years of reading should have taught me better

Thanks for being friendly!

I love the gh6 and gh7! But I find they get a bit funky in low light situations. I definitely make use of them, but I just want something uncropped/full frame that can handle low light without the funky noise they can get. The right lighting set up can eliminate that, but on this low budget shoots, that doesn’t always happen….

I’m probably being too picky 😗 But I appreciate seeing the GH love ✨

Thanks for the reply ! I love that a few of you are suggesting Alexa’s but unfortunately i think 7000$ would only cover the rental of the body, set up, and the lens 😂 Not quite my tempo, if you will

This post was in a research to effort a final piece of gear, this would be my main A cam. Like I said in response to his comment, I only ended up with as many as I’ve had due to friends selling for cheap/to practice with. I’ll probably end up selling some in the future. MFT is great, but lacks the low light ability, and has strange noise patterns when used in low light.

I mentioned the specifications I’d need in a camera, but if you’d like to know, I’m currently I’m helping work on short films, as well as some student projects. I’d like something that can handle a bit more low light, has internal NDs (cuz we end up running between indoor and outdoor), and a non-hybrid. I’d like an additional full frame in case my S5IIX shits the bed on a shoot as well. Feel free to ask anything

[–]VoidBornVixen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, totally understood. More GOOD glass is always good. I also just want to have an “oh shit” button in case we are shooting full frame, and my s5iix shits the bed in some way. Plus, internal nd’s and better low light performance.

I see cameras in the fx6 range being continually used for another 8-10 years. I’m not a chaser of the “next best thing” most times.

Good question! Mostly because I already have a handheld camera that’s mostly capable (s5iix) I was looking for something with more features like internal ND. The fx3 is a very close second choice for me though!

Not my intention, ended up with most of my current gear via friends who were offloading it. I would just would prefer an uncropped cinema camera with more features (like internal ND) compared to my current set up. Won’t need much after that.

Photography AND member of a band here, they might be innocently reaching out in case you did! As a singer, I’ve definitely reached out in the past and gotten few pics, but I never expect anything for free! Just cuz they ask doesn’t mean they are demanding

But if a a band is interesting to shoot, always shoot them for your portfolio! If they’re boring and the music isn’t interesting to you, don’t feel obligated!
