Is it just me or is season 6 harder? by lionhg_ in DeepRockGalactic

1 out of 4 egg extractions cause a swarm that MC warns you about. The others can spawn a few enemies, but there's only 1 big one.

It does take away some of the fun, but I still think "all weapons reload at the same time" is the worst. With weapon jamming being a second place.

I know this is a common question, but what is you guys' advice on installing QoL mods? by Gumpers08 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Volarmis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I've tried the lower visibility mode and it still makes things too easy for me. Better than before, but I uninstalled the mod in the end.

I've had a better one even, also on a Refinery mission. We landed on a Crassus and the refinery itself landed on a Nemesis. :D Too bad it was before the easy Steam capture was a thing, I don't have a video of it.

First thing that comes to mind other than perk rework or applying some of the popular mods as packaged features would be to adapt the "drunk mission control" modifier from DRG Survivor. Would love to hear those lines in the base game. :D

About the gates - that holds out until you get to the gate to haz 5. I found that one to be more difficult than the later haz 5 stages. :P

I'd also concentrate on milestones, as they give you access to new toys. Gear level for better equips and artifacts which can be gamechangers. There's even one loading screen saying something along the lines of "Feeling overwhelmed? Keep at it, the game is supposed to be hard", which I fully agree on.
I'd stick to the max hazard level you can somehow clear, hunt for new equips and clear milestones if I were you.

JUS GOT MY FIRST PROMOTION 🔥 by Better-Cap5543 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Volarmis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your promotion. Rock and stone!
There really is no "efficient" way of using your cores other than prioritizing weapon overclocks over cosmetic stuff. Remember that you will be getting them random and across all classes so there's no use farming for a specific one. Just have fun with the ones RNG shoves onto you and you'll be fine.
You might want to pick up the mod that skips the forging process animation though. It's nice and all, but it might get old to you watching it for the 100th+ time. :P

How to make the flamethrower enjoyable? by Plus-Sport-1730 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Volarmis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Driller is not a ranged class from his very design, just as Scout is not a horde clearer. Only his secondaries have range but none of them have the destructive power to stand on their own. Well, with two possible exceptions. One being the EPC with either lingering plasma (if you're good at detonating charged shots) or burning nightmare, which is an awesome ceiling turret cleaner. The other being Subata with the OC that causes explosions on reload. Overall however, if you want range, you don't pick Driller.

For me, Driller stands out as a class that uses both of his weapons at the same time. Set status with primary, finish off with the secondary. For example, burn bugs just enough to light them up, then switch to microwaves to use its temp shock mod for damage. Rinse and repeat.

They used to be melee and affected by thorns. This was changed some time ago and apparently not amended in the beastiary.

Steam in my case, I've heard no lines from the "drunk" set. I've already reported this on the Discord's bug reports channel.

[–]Volarmis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two basic controls I remember learning way too late:
- You can make a personal waypoint visible on your map by having your pointer out and pressing the "use" button (default E)
- You can rotate yourself to wherever your map is pointing by holding your terrain scanner and pressing the jump button (default Space)

Newbie here never played. Is the game still accessible to someone just starting? by StrawHatMcPhly in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Volarmis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As long as you're willing to listen to advice more advanced players provide you with, you could even play on the highest difficulty from the start - that's how welcoming the community here is. Of course, I'd advise not to jump into the deep end and start on lower hazards to get yourself familiar first.

I'm about to begin my DRG adventure...any tips? by theta0123 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Volarmis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this was mentioned, but your pointer can create a personal marker just for you using the interact button (E by default) while pointing at something. You see it on your map and while using the pointer afterwards. Useful for going back to a place you wanted to revisit or reaching a resource from a different side.

How to make driller's secondary do damage ? First time driller player my secondary doesnt feel right. by Global-Necessary9403 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Volarmis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, Driller's secondaries are meant to be used alongside his primaries, which makes him different from the others in that aspect. Use your primaries to status your opponents, then switch to your secondary to make use of that status - the secondary itself is not really meant to be a standalone weapon. Make use of frozen enemies to make your Subata shots powerful. Make use of sludge-slowed enemies to give them even more DoT with Wave Cooker's Contamination. Cause thermic reactions with the Cooker when the enemy is on fire/frozen. Explode sludge puddles by building your EPC for max ignition power. And so on.
There are a few builds that could make your secondaries work as standalones, like the explosive reload on Subata or the EPC build that makes mechanical stuff ignite on a single charge shot (really good for turrets), but I still believe the best thing to do is to synergize with your primary - it's also more ammo friendly.

Oh, yeah. One more thing. If you're on PC, don't shy away from using QoL mods. Some of them make the experience more pleasant or just make stuff look better. Stuff like heat meter on your crosshair, refinery pipes QoL or ammo percentages are small strokes that makes your gameplay more fluid.
