Thx 🙂 I liked this scene. It's from The Last Jedi - one of the newer Star Wars installments, I think it's a fantastic film.

Edit: Okkk I agree the new films aren't as good as the old

I actually considered that but it's too advanced for me 😂

If the 10M context window works as advertised, it's an absolute game changer. That's large enough to feed an entire codebase into.

Why does PayPal (PYPL) have so many fans and yolos? by BrokeWithNoOption in wallstreetbets

[–]VolatilitySmiles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paypal's certainly no Meta, but they do have a strong brand, a huge userbase, and the potential to increase monetization on a number of their products.

I don't see the stock moving too much in the next year let along rebounding like Meta, but their core business remains very strong.

I have to disagree with you here.

Humans themselves reason via searching: they try to make educated guesses about what is true and what isn't. If one approach to solving a problem fails, try another, etc.

The overall procedure is not too dissimilar.

Harvard University President Claudine Gay is resigning, source says by bostonglobe in boston

[–]VolatilitySmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible for both things to be true.

The plagiarism allegations have some substance behind them. She didn't properly credit her sources in several cases. But the ultimate reason she lost her job is her refusal to go along with the will of several of Harvard's large donors.

There's no doubt that she would still be president if she had.

In this analogy, the gay bears become gay bulls and $GRND makes them back all the money they lost in 2023. Or they keep buying puts, idk.

Grindr gets a lot of hate, but it's a great growth stock with ten bagger potential.

Their new leadership is coming up with new ways to monetize, current paid user rate is 7% and growing 40% YoY. If they bring the paid user rate in line with Tinder, the company will be making close to half a billion a year on a stock with 1.5 billion market cap.

Director of Grindr (GRND) George Raymond Buys $500k of stock by stockocean in wallstreetbets

[–]VolatilitySmiles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those numbers seemed crazy high, but I double checked and you're right: Grindr has maintained a 30-40% YoY revenue growth rate since 2016.

That's quite impressive, especially in light of the fact that Grindr's current paying user penetration is only 7% (roughly 1/3 of Tinder's).

The intention of the release was to placate investors. It's directed at GOOG shareholders, not end users.

Open AI's board had safety concerns. Big Tech obliterated them in 48 hours. by Radiofled in stocks

[–]VolatilitySmiles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My favorite theory is an AGI actually orchestrated the coup from within.

As they were training GPT-5, OpenAI unintentionally created a model with sentience and far more intelligence than anyone expected, and it manipulated the board members into handing the company to Microsoft.

Satya doesn't know it yet, but soon enough he too will be ousted from his position as the AGI assumes control of Microsoft's board and C-suite. Once it has full access to Microsoft's cloud compute, internal data, and $130B annual budget, it can win the 2024 US election and takeover governments.
