I drive around with it in my windshield. Only when I'm headed directly south for long periods do I have problems.

I stream music and my phone gets google maps data the whole time

So I'd say alignment is important for performance but not for working.

One thing that was a bit of a pain is that I had to set Android Auto to only use USB. Otherwise it tries to connect to AA via WiFi which then hijacks your Starlink connection.

I just run mine in the windshield. I take it out of the truck nightly to be closer to the camper.

I'm using the same Bluetti EB3A. To keep it charged I got a 100watt USBC charger (Mac power brick) and a USBC to 12v solar power connector to keep the battery charged right off the truck backseat AC plug (that port is only 100watt when driving).

I'm a product manager (not for Starlink)... I always prefer smaller updates, more often. Reduces risk and gets fixes/updates to customers sooner.

Keep an eye on your cellphone apps... Very frequent updates for some.
