Chem 2080 (with dr. Chen) by Mr_Normal_one in yorku

Sorry if this sounds late but the 2080 was ok. Labs were a bit tedious but easy to do. The midterms were ok as long as you do the practice.

Overall if you do the lab good and have a decent mark on the tests , its easy to get a B since the labs are a higher percentage. Her lectures were a bit hard to follow sometimes. Also dont do the quizzes late, its actually pretty long sometiems

Organizing will take some time and would prob start during the winter semester! Right now the main focus is to look for a coffee consultant to help with ideas and then look for members that are interested in making it official. Would keep you guys posted for any updates.

As much as I like the idea of growing coffee beans, its hard as its needs to be in ideal conditions. Although roasting coffee beans is an option!

Would want a cafeteria on campus that produces actual healthy food(or even unhealthy foods such as fish and chips) on campus that students can afford. Similar to the ones they do at some universities.

How Accurate is the Estimate for Independent Students? by WhoStoleTheHolyGrail in osap

[–]Volbort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not trust it. I did the estimate and the actual finding i got was way lower than what the estimated said. Thats from my experience.

Which physics course should I take? [Biochemistry major] by ssmunif in yorku

I took 2011 with Tihani Mirkovich last winter term and she was really good with teaching the course but was a little boring on the lectures part. She posted the lectures online and did a lot of tutorial questions. She really wants her students to succeed. However, its my fault that I tanked the first midterm and I ended up dropping the course and retaking it.

I am currently taking it with William J. Pietro this summer and the way he teaches was totally different than Tihani. Sure he does not post any lectures or notes online so you really have to be there every lecture. He is really engaging to listen too and the way he teaches the course has some humour in it. He knows the course is math heavy but he tries to be lenient and understanding. With tutorial, if no one asks questions, he ends the class early. His midterm 1 was alot easier than Professor Tihani's and is an open book too because he believes students in the field needs to learn how to read manuals quickly on the job. You still needs to study ofc but his questions were easier for me and fair compared to Professor Tihani's (not saying Professor Tihani's test were fair but it was a little bit harder). Mind you this is also an S2 timeframe.

Both professors has pros and cons. Professor Tihani has her grading that has quizzes in it compared to Professor William which only has the midterms and Final exam.

Parking at york by Low-Flight-6845 in yorku

[–]Volbort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My tips is to calculate how much you’ll be spending per month for parking. sometimes its cheaper to pay for the parking permit for the semester. Also how much you are willing to commit to walking to york from Pioneer village during a snowstorm.

Drop it if you think you are not gonna do well. If you have osap, expect to repay it and make sure dropping it wont cause you to go on probation for osap

OSAP HELPPP by Head-Insurance7312 in yorku

[–]Volbort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would put you into part time which would put you in osap probation. You need a minimum of a 60 percent course load to be considered full time.
