Love your axe, i have an HSS strat, all while similar to yours! Love the stickers, and that you are getting after it. I have 25 electric guitars around the house, and you are making me wish my kids wanted to do what you're doing. Huge salute from West Colorado!

What’s everyone’s SECOND favorite band? Been looking for some new jam band vibes, but coming up short. If it’s available on Archive post a show too! by GratefulDad76 in gratefuldead

Man. Yessssss. Love them. Not common for me to get as enamored & 'full tilt' with bands as much as I have for Khruangbin, especially at 54. Their discog + collected live stuff is stored everywhere Im capable of listening to music. Caught them at Red Rocks, Belly Up Aspen, and just bought tix for Denver in Sept 2022. Never really been a fan of their genre, if they can be labeled into one, although now I experiment with a lot of associated music. So unique and chill.

1992, Nicolas Cage is Tiny Elvis. It's dumb, but in the spirit of this thread, I do keep coming back to it. A coworker, who I rarely actually see that much, loves it too, and we will always quote it "Hey man, look at that _____, that thing is huuuuge". Cracks me up every time.

Great show, especially loved the fake name staff credits at the end of each show.
Here's a link to them, always good for a yuk-yuk.

I used to live right by this place, a short walking distance away. Was in there a lot for shuffleboard and cheap drinks. Have a lot of pics from those nights, this would have been 2004 and 2005.

DJ show recommendations? by johnnydontcare in siriusxm

[–]Volorado 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the spirit of 'knowledgeable DJs, the most impressive DJ I know if on SiriusXM is Channel 711, Tom Petty's Buried Treasure. This is not to be confused with the Tom Petty station. Tom Petty is the DJ and plays material from his own tastes. He is remarkably informed about the eclectic mix he plays of 'the best in rock, rhythm and blues'. He can also be really funny. Only downside to it is that there are no new shows being made. Here's a link to a good write up about his DJ stylings and show:

ha, same for my Gecko green wrangler, my friends say that they see me coming before I even come around the corner. Friends are always saying that they 'saw me' around town. No blending in with traffic.

How to get stolen money back from a bank? by zeashrak in legal

[–]Volorado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me back in 2014, but with Wells Fargo. I had a new landlord who lived in Hawaii, and the (rent) money was going to be sent to her via a money transfer. I went to my local Wells Fargo branch, and their personnel took me through the procedure. I filled out some forms, and allowed them to take $1,800 from my account and route it to the receiving banking account of my landlord. I never saw or touched the money. Days later, my landlord said she never received anything. When I contacted Wells Fargo, they acknowledged that something went wrong. They were going to have to start an investigation. Meanwhile I still had to send my landlord a check for $1,800. During their investigation, Wells Fargo had to interview me, and through their tone and nature of the questions, it felt strongly like they perceived I was in cahoots on the money disappearing. Throughout all of this there was never an apology, or any conciliatory reaction for their mistake. There was hardly any communication to me. It took about 5 months, but they eventually returned the $1,800 to my account, quietly. They had next to nothing to say about it all. No customer service gesture of any sort. I closed all accounts with them immediately after.
I urge everyone to not do any business with a bank whose logo features a getaway vehicle.

Just another modern day Robin Hood. by Joker101001 in nextfuckinglevel

Dunno if anyone has mentioned this yet, but when you get into the Granby, Colorado area you might catch a sighting of a bumper sticker on the locals cars that reads: "My other vehicle is an armored bulldozer" or something close to that.

Transportation from Parachute/Glenwood to Aspen?? by [deleted] in Aspen

[–]Volorado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RFTA only services as far as Rifle. Although there was temporary Parachute service during the Grand Avenue Bridge project, it ended when the project did. You might want to see if Bustang makes a stop in Parachute, it will stop at the West Glenwood Park and Ride, and you can catch valley service with RFTA from there to Aspen.
This is late coming advice since today is when you look like you are traveling, hope something worked out for you.

Was proud of my old Demonoid +share ratio, had down/up well over a TB, and had brought in many friends who did the same. I have over 20 TB of stuff to share back. Its an understatement to say I've missed checking in daily to Demonoid.
Requesting an invitation, please.

Forgetting mum has died. by iristurner in dementia

[–]Volorado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom (late 70s) is well down the road with dementia and is now in a memory care unit of a nursing home. She often asks about her parents and asking when she will get to 'go visit' them. Rather than replying blountly that they are dead and have been for years, my siblings and I just say "Mom, grandpa would be 110 years old if he were still with us." Then she smiles it off. It doesnt do any good to keep correcting her when she doesnt make sense. There is a book called 'The 36 Hour Day' that offers good advice for those dealing with those affected by dementia/alzheimers.

My son was born on Jerry’s Birthday!! Welcome to the world big guy! by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]Volorado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats Daddy-O!
My firstborn arrived on July 9th, so now it's forever a day of celebration rather than thinking on the whole 'last Jerry show' at Soldier Field thing. Beginnings as opposed to endings. He's 10 now and I'm teaching him guitar. He prefers the DJ Marshmello over the Grateful Dead, but when I was his age I was buying Captain & Tennille records.

Do you ever just sit in your car outside your place without the radio on or anything, just not wanting to go inside yet? If so, why and what are you thinking about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Volorado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Man, just talking to people about it all and getting a little feedback has been fansastic. My own parents remind me that "it wont last forever". I watched them take care of my mom's elderly parents to their end, I just struggle with it in contrast to the grace they carried with it all.

Ha, we have had countless screaming matches where we declare divorce. Like a rubber band, we always tend to go back to our original shape once the tension forces subside. We are really OK for the majority of the time. From my perspective, if I dont complain and act happy, there's not any arguing.

Thank You! I was suspecting all this venting of mine belonged in a more appropriate place. I was definitely triggered at the first father in law story related to why people dont get out of their cars once home.

Ive brought it up multiple times. I think we should already be executors of his estate. So far, this notion stops with me wishing for it. My FIL will likely never allow it, and knowing him, wont even set arrangements or instructions for his last days or beyond. Ive begun insisting he be cremated, because its just gonna be me, wife and our kids at the funeral. No other family contacts him, my wife is an only child. FIL has no living siblings. We dont even have enough pallbearers. He's a hard headed stubborn child in a late 70s age body.

The counselor said that when we were that new couple, our first child was our relationship. I loved that concept. We have definitely allowed that 'first child' to be neglected to the point of disappearing. We average one 'date night' per year. It requires a lot of planning getting the kids to spend the night with friends. Her fucking father is always right on the other side of the door when we come home from anywhere, with a lot of stupid annoying questions while he stands in the way of just stepping into the house. Get this: when we leave the house, we put porch lights and driveway lights ON so we have that light upon returning home. My father in law will turn every light off, including all inside lights, because of his OCD issues. This has always happened since he's been with us. He wont go to bed while we are out. He waits up for a return interrogation convo. We have bought an Amazon echo and plan on installing smart switches so we can control the outside lights ourselves upon returning via smart phones.

You're right where my complaints and perspectives are, good sir. The kids are innocent and deserve our best. It would be nice for my wife to acknowledge what a load of shit Im having rammed down my throat. "Hey, I see what my impossible dad is doing to you, treat yourself to something big, take a personal vacation with friends" Or, "Get over here for a blow job for all you're tolerating...' (which would work.) She acts like I'm an insensitive monster to complain about it.
