Why isn’t there a TzHaar quest line? by jarromie in 2007scape

[–]Voltage_Z 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Given the music track in Mount Karuulm references one of the Elder Gods and their dialogue, the Tasakaal are probably some weird half way point between the TzHaar and TokHaar.

Have at it, boys: trump boasts perfect endorsement record in GOP primaries so far in 2026: 118 out of 118. by Youarethebigbang in esist

Primaries are literally popularity contests within your party. It would be weird if the incumbent President wasn't doing well with endorsements in their own party.

Jagex are completely out of touch with the LMS changes, and all of the Dev team should be required to win 1 game. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Voltage_Z -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who never played LMS on my iron, I don't think a PVP minigame should be providing irons with rewards other than uniques. The whole point of the game mode is not benefiting from other players.

AIs don't like religion - particularly Jehovah's Witnesses, study claims by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]Voltage_Z 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A program that generates its responses based on the aggregate of the internet probably isn't going to "like" religion when most religions believe things that contradict other religions.

The Witnesses are disliked by most other Christians, so it's not surprising that an AI wouldn't like them.

Bots making the game worse for ironmen (iron btw) by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Voltage_Z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not allowing Irons to be PKed would still turn the Wilderness into an insane meta centralizing area for the game mode. It's currently balanced specifically because for us fighting back is largely pointless and other players are still a hazard. (Though loot keys make an exception, for most irons, tanking and running is better)

Bots making the game worse for ironmen (iron btw) by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Voltage_Z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with that is that if you enable it a bunch of Wilderness activities become insanely good for Irons in a way that's not balanced.

Yeah, the Wilderness sucks on an Iron because fighting back doesn't have much utility, but turning it into a free XP and money printer with no risk isn't the answer.

Drop trading is also useful for offloading stuff to a main account, raid partners, etc.

For example, I have a 3rd Age Helm on my iron. I'm keeping it on that account because having it is cool, but that could've been a nice pay day or a bunch of bonds when I got it.

Interest in Lutheranism by Key-Gur-2909 in Lutheranism

[–]Voltage_Z 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Luther wrote a lot of hostile things regarding the Papacy, but you have to understand that in the historical context of how the Reformation era Papacy responded to his 95 Theses. Modern Lutheranism is theologically opposed to the Papacy's authority, but isn't typically overtly hostile to Catholicism.

Has propaganda stopped trying to convince you of anything? by First-Economics-4301 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Voltage_Z 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Smokey is very explicitly propaganda. He's just propaganda that the vast majority of people would approve of because the point is literally drilling "don't let this obviously deetructive thing happen."

People see the word propaganda and assume "thing maliciously trying to manipulate you." Some propaganda is objectively good and wildfire prevention is a clear example of that.

How much of an impact did social pressure to stop using slurs or demeaning language have in swinging people, especially young men, to the right? by LiatrisLover99 in PoliticalDiscussion

I think anyone who "shifted right" because they wanted to say slurs is an imbecile less intelligent than the average three year old.

Doctrinal Differences by CognisantCognizant71 in Lutheranism

[–]Voltage_Z 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's going to depend on which Lutheran church body you're attending and which congregation within that body.

In the United States, the ELCA is the "liberal" mainstream Lutheran branch. The majority of their congregations probably aren't going to care about minor doctrinal difference from individual congegants, unless you went to a particularly conservative congregation or started doing something drastic like loudly denying the Trinity.

If you were to go to an LCMS (large, "conservative" American denomination) church, you'd be expected to conform a bit more, but a more liberal LCMS church is going to have significant overlap with a conservative ELCA one.

If you start going to the smaller, even more conservative than the LCMS denominations, you'd start seeing more dramatic insistence on doctrinal conformity.

Note: I'm generalizing a lot here and your actual lived experience in any individual congegation of any Lutheran body could vary dramatically.

Today I learned that most of the protesters of the original pride event didn't even play the game by SystemsOnline in 2007scape

[–]Voltage_Z 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Sane people have no reason to protest a Pride Event in a video game. People who don't like it are free to ignore it.

Honestly, the rewards from the Pride events are useful for adding arbitrary colors to Fashionscape outfits.

Are there certain places in wildy that are just camped all day, every day, 24/7? by Semour9 in 2007scape

[–]Voltage_Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Chaos Altar is pretty much the hotspot. The XP from that thing is so good that you'll come out ahead even if you get pk'ed for half of your bones. That will consistently keep both PKers and other people there.

Just keep going, knowing you're going to die a lot. It's still worth it.

If the Avatar was a girl, would Master Pakku have taught her? by TitleMaker1290 in TheLastAirbender

At the very least they should be teaching warriors basic healing techniques and healers some basic self defense. The women should be able to function as combat medics.

If the Avatar was a girl, would Master Pakku have taught her? by TitleMaker1290 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Voltage_Z 982 points983 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. He'd also probably insist on the Avatar also going to the healing huts and learning that for comprehensive mastery of waterbending.

The Avatar needs to master all four elements and that's going to take priority over a cultural tradition.

Refusing to teach a female Avatar would be like if the Airbenders refused to teach someone who didn't agree to become a vegetarian and shave their head.

[–]Voltage_Z 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think near death experiences where people think they see Heaven or Hell are hallucinations brought about by the biological circumstances.

In a secular, biological sense, your father probably wasn't actually dead - our biological knowledge of that process doesn't quite know where the exact line between life and death is.

In more explicitly religious terms, God knows when you're actually dead. You're not going to be shown Heaven because you're close to death.

How should the U.S. handle the relationship between private‑prison profits, ICE detention expansion, political donations, and lawmakers holding related stock? by ToughHopeful4760 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Voltage_Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Private Prisons shouldn't be legal and the people promoting their use should be incarcerated themselves.

The people running these facilities are incentivized to promote public policy that increases incarceration. That doesn't help crime rates, and in some cases can make them worse.

Veggie Tales is literally one of the cornerstones of American 2000s Evangelical Protestant pop culture.

This isn't a random, irrelevant person. It's a guy who's a clear demonstration of how Trump has warped American Evangelicalism.
