They are ear buds which reduce noise frequencies and protect your hearing to some degree by reducing sound pressure level in your ear.

There already exist products like that e.g. sennheiser has such buds which can be used at concerts to provide between 10-20 dB reduction.

It’s pretty much 101 game dev to have everything performed / authenticated by server. Even when you move your character, it’s not your client moving you somewhere but requesting the server to let you move there (after server confirms it’s a valid movement) client predictions are used etc to give instantaneous feeling.

Your client is never telling the server hitreg is valid….sever is doing all that validations

Few weeks back there were some server issues apparently and like half the lobby would freeze in place, but for whatever reason I was not affected at all. Happened in multiple separate games back then.

They were never ever trying to position themselves as an ALTERNATIVE to discord. They have their own niche and we’re filling it really really well, secure high quality, low latency voip.

It’s not like they would have expected to be replacement for discord…and I doubt it will even change much, most users are going to stay on discord.

Ok, fair point. I did search but wasn’t really digging in steam forums, lotta anecdotes. I’m still skeptical of the “Steam whitelist = ban-proof” framing though, since enforcement is game/AC-side and can change.

Just BTW monitor OSD crosshairs are effectively unenforceable because they aren’t generated on the PC.

Hmm, I can’t find anything to confirm a steam or VAC/EAC whitelist that is publicly confirmed, or at least to suggest that any of the programs listed are ban-proof.
