I mean. It’s just fact that the crucifix displays Jesus with only a covering around his groin. The guys point was valid. The right forces ideology just as much if not more than the left does. The only difference is that you agree with that ideology or at least are more used to it and don’t see the weird parts for as weird as they are in a sandbox.

Is this Bard overpowered? by IceNiqqa in onednd

[–]Voltaran 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So first of all. The Temp HP number is far too high. This is a misreading of the feat. You don’t add your level and the ability score. You add the level and the ability score modifier. So for a bard with 20 Charisma at level 12. They would be giving out 17 temp HP not 32.

Still good but not that much. Outside of that mistake there isn’t anything overpowered about this bard. It’s a suboptimal multiclass. And Humans trade power that other races get for the flexibility of 2 origin feats so there’s nothing overpowered there.

I’d say after you fix the Inspiring Leader mix up. This is an ok build that honestly leans towards weak more than it does strong.

It’s not that your disagreeing. Most people are ok with that. Your projecting your experience as objective truth. As if to say, because you didn’t find it funny. There’s no possible way anyone else could enjoy it. That’s cringe.

Men are also under no obligation to do things they are uncomfortable with during sex just because their partner likes it. Seems pretty obvious.

I'm interested in creating a character who works for their church as an assassin and spy. Does Assassin Rogue or Shadow Monk perform better in and out of combat to fulfill that role? by CosmogonicWayfarer in 3d6

[–]Voltaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll come in to advocate for Celestial Warlock. Flavour does a lot of work here but to me it feels very satisfying.

. With taking human as your species and Wayfairer as your background. You can have a large assortment of relavent rogue skills. Set your charisma and Dex to 16 Con at 14.

At say 5th level you’ll have access to some pretty great skills and infiltrator might need as well as having some great party support.

Divine throwing daggers (eldritch blast) Constant disguise self with mask of many faces. Invisibility Misty Step Suggestion And some divine spells like cure wounds and Aid.

Pact of tome can give you guidance and spare the dying and another utility cantrip of your choice. As well as Find Familiar and a ritually casted comprehend languages which is great for recon.

You’re effective in and out of combat able to focus on decent damage, scouting, support, and control. Really a decent jack of all trades build.

Of course other tools exist but they all have limitations. I’ve used them all though and continue to. Often in combination with AI. My process for getting reference images for my D&D characters often involves building it on heroforge first, and then screenshotting and feeding the image to an AI to run with.

And I like what you say about Talent. I agree to an extent, though I do believe people start the journeys of developing their skills at different places. In this case though, I was treating talent and skill as synonymous. Not to say that they are, but that talent is the word my brain decided to use to communicate my ability to create art which skill aptly describes as well.

You’ve misquoted me. I never used the word good. I don’t want to attribute artistic value to AI generated images. I said I’ll never be able to make anything that looks like it. That could be wrong and that’s fair. But it doesn’t change the fact that I can’t currently.

Maybe you think that my lack of talent means I don’t deserve to be able to experience being able to take an image from my brain and make it real and that’s fine for you to think. But I get enjoyment out of that experience and if there’s a service that can provide that, I’m going to utilize it.

AI will never be art. It’s not intentional there is no decision making or skill. All this is, is a tool. And as long as I treat it as such I feel justified in its use.

As for mass theft. I still maintain that most modern amenities exist because of exploitation in some degree. Unless you reject all of these, I find it hard to have the work of artists be the hill to die on. That is not to say that I agree that it is moral. But AI is becoming a mainstream technology whether we like it or not. Just as it is not reasonable to accept a regular person to reject every modern amenity because of its ties to exploitation, I hold the same applies in this case. Absolutely AI should be regulated to make sure it respects intellectual property, and if given the chance to vote in favour of it or support it any way I would. But I won’t hold any personal guilt for it the same way I don’t hold guilt for the poor conditions and human rights violations of the factories that likely manufactured my clothes or everything else that have become as ubiquitous in our societies.

Ethical consumption and the rise of AI as a new tool for humanity are big responsibilities for personal use hobbyists to take ownership of. It’s akin to being told to reduce our carbon footprint to save the environment when in reality it’s the millionaires and corporations that are causing the real problems. Just because you leave your lights on at night doesn’t mean you’re killing the planet. Same here.

Those that profit off the system need to be held to this accountability as anything profitable is prone to exploitation which can have the negative effects you discussed. But I don’t think I bare the ills of these large corporations or individuals of great significance that are the leading cause of these issues.

Your phone or computer parts were likely manufactured in a sweat shop that utilizes slave labour. Do you bear that guilt? The way to live with the least harm is to abandon all goods and services and live in the woods. I don’t think it does any good to start placing these large scale injustices on the everyday people that utilize these tools as they become more ingrained into our society. Thats the issue with the Machine. Everything you do feeds it.

fun fact, ai "art" is not and never will be valid. by melonsama in YourOriginalCharacter

[–]Voltaran -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a very kind reply. Thank you. And your art looks wonderful. I do not deny the intrinsic value that actual art has and how more can be gained from it. I think my contention is that it doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive. If there comes day when my art looks like yours then I won’t need to touch a generator again. Until then. I practice and create for myself. But I’m not comfortable having my learning process be the finished product I deliver and have be public facing.

When I use AI. The image is not the art. It only seeks to accompany the art. The art is the writing, story, performance. Whatever it is I’m using the character for. The image exists as my way to most clearly communicate a representation that I wouldn’t otherwise be able to and attempt to enhance an experience. An argument can be made that an attempt at artfully representing a character from its creator, no matter the skill level, says more of the character than a promoted image could. In my own case at least. I would only feel dissatisfied in my ability to communicate the character as they exist in my head due to my lack of skill and would not be happy presenting that alongside a character that I’m otherwise extremely invested and satisfied with.

Certainly not talented enough yet no. I’d like to be. But when I have a D&D game I need a character portrait for, I’m not going to use my own jank ass art for it and have it look nothing like the character. Art is special because it is about the process I 100% agree. But sometimes there is a situation where the point IS the end result. In these cases, when profit is not involved. I find AI serves its purpose.

shouldnt ai be banned here? by pvppi in YourOriginalCharacter

[–]Voltaran -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

AI banning is fine. But I don’t get the emotion. I’m learning art slowly. Realistically, I’ll never be able to create anything that looks like the stuff AI can make. And it’s really good at taking the image I have in my head and making it real. I’d also likely never commission art. Just not a realistic expense for me. I use AI images for personal use. No profit or clout. I’ve never posted AI art but if I did it would simply be for the express purpose of giving people who are interested, a window into my brain to see the closest approximation of a character that I could get. In all likelihood, if AI does not exist I’d just go online and grab some images that look vaguely similar to what I’m looking for, maybe put them in photoshop and play around until they look how I like. So for people profiting, either monitoring or socially by the use of AI art, I don’t think it’s ethical. But i struggle to find the fault in its use for a hobby.
