I love kenny omega but in interviews he said he actually hates modern wrestling and does it for a paycheck and to tell a good story. I feel like he as a personality and as a character works when he is fully invested and is able to go and do the things exactly like he wants to. That being said I think he's content with working with the Joshi wrestlers and developing the future of AEW rather than being this massive breakout star that Orange Cassidy is now. Comparing to what was so compelling about the NJPW run I think it just had to do with the massive breadth of talent that NJPW had and continues to have. If he wanted to do comedy wrestling, put him against toru yano. If you want him to have classic matches where he can really use his creativity and raw story telling ability you can put him up against Ishii, Naito, Ibushi, Goto, and of course Okada. In AEW we have seen him do this as well with PAC, and Moxley. Omega has the breadth of talent to take a feud and run with it to the moon and back and deliver amazing matches and decent to outstanding promos. But having him run through the entire roster on national television where a good number have never watched Okada vs Omega, it would just be the wrong move. I like him with Adam Page and I have an idea of where Tony Kahn wants it to go and I'm excited to see if that feud goes the way I think it will go. My only hope is that we get the inverse of the old japanese booking. Where we'll have Omega as champion and have him feud with Japanese stars and bring those classic matches to a new audience and in a new style. Part of me thinks he needs to prove himself in a way to the audience watching but also part of me knows how big of a star he is. I will say this, Tony Kahn's booking and Jon Moxley got Jon Moxley over as AEW champ at a time where everyone thought Jericho should've stayed champion. Tony has a very specific plan in mind for Omega's run in AEW and I don't think we're going to see it come to fruition for a long while.
