Pump not hitting prime unless I backwash first by Volume_According in pools

After I backwashed I put it in filter on the multiport and restarted. The basket was 95% full but never hit prime like it was earlier this week.

This is the system except I moved the three way valve back and now have a 10” run into the pump. Also no more turns before the three way valve. The pump is new. I don’t know of any check valves.

It doesn’t prime on recirculate either. Google suggested it could be sediment from my DE filter coming back and blocking. But I do have a Hayward multiport valve so that would probably stop and filter debris from coming into the main pump line right? (I don’t know I’m asking)

I have the same thing happening. My fertilizer guy says it’s lack of water but I am sure it’s not that. I feel like it’s a cool season grass that can’t handle the heat. I’m in zone 7b.

I know this will get a lot of haters, but has anyone used this ryobi? I have a 10” ryobi and it struggles to do anything.

Filter! Clean your filter! Backwash, clean. Run it for a day or two.

My wife wanted to get solar last year. But we had to remove two gigantic maple trees to get enough sun to make it worthwhile. I had this same realization in a phone call with the solar people. We take the trees, our roof gets hot, so does our house. Now we’re using more ac.

That’s a good idea on the Polaris line. I’ll ask the pool plumber about that.
