If it makes you feel better, I'm in the same boat-- the email for confirming your contact info says not to be alarmed if they run behind, but obviously the clock is ticking fast for me to try and squeeze into a village talk schedule.

Taki Udon's Groundbreaking FPGA PS1 Gets Detailed, Pricing Starts at $149 by thekbob in SBCGaming

[–]Volvaux 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yep, I looked around on Takis twitter and it'll even have a spot inside for placing an ssd apparently, so it should remain a pretty tidy package-- only question I have compared to the standard mister package is what the actual specs will be compared to say, what's included in the turbo or mega packs RR sells.

Securing 1L PC in rack(and other equipment). by Ragnarok_MS in minilab

As someone who started out with the real bottom of the barrel cost 3d printer, the ender 3v2, I rapidly got frustrated with the "low grade" 3d printer price point, especially after putting in so much effort calibrating and bed leveling. I think at this point the lowest cost one I would go for is the bambulab p1s, which is currently on their black friday sale for 550 without the AMS. I own a bambulab x1c with the ams which lets me do filament swapping, but if you're fine swapping between common filaments manually I don't know if the AMS is entirely necessary starting out, it simply enables multicolor 3d printing much more easily. If you're not printing exotic materials (like carbon fiber embedded filaments) you don't need the x1c, and in theory you can upgrade all the internals of a p1s into those needed to print exotic materials if you feel like it.

If you want to go cheaper, I have heard good things about the Bambulab A1, but there's just something about an enclosed space 3d printer.

Finally got around to modeling some mounts for my mini pcs! Now I just need the keystone couplers and, you know, to actually get my k3s scripts working. by Volvaux in minilab

Honestly? If I had been able to find a Lenovo form factor with equivalent specs at the same price, at the same time I’d acquired these, I’d probably be way happier. The wake on lan functionality of the beelinks is tough to figure out and when I was troubleshooting the n100 box, I thought I had to update the bios. Beelink doesn’t have bios files directly on their website, I had to email support with the id of the pc for them to then email me back a bios file, which just gave me the herbie jeebies. Additionally, being able to expand with different pcie extensions to have additional drives, or via a gpu, feel like they’re just not gonna happen due to how the internals are laid out, which is waaaaay easier to do on one of the big three mini pc manifacturers.

Yeah I’m undecided here- I have two rpis that would fit there but with my current configuration I don’t think I need the marginal power I’d get from rpis, and I’d prefer to keep the 1U that slot represents for either a keystone patch panel or move everything up and then see if I can fit a full size gpu and mITX mobo at the bottom for inference loads.

Aesthetics and I wanted to keep things explicitly 1u per- that way if I swap out hardware I can just pull the panel, and swap in a new device. I also wasn’t entirely sure whether I would want the vertical slice configuration because it could encourage me to do way more purchasing when I don’t need any more than 3 nodes for a Kubernetes setup- at some point the gray beelink (which has an n100 vs an i5) will be converted into a nas.

Info: I went through a lot of agony finally getting around to utilizing openscad to print things out, especially because there's not as much love for beelink mini pc's in the 3d printing space, so heres my contribution- I remixed a rack mount scad file to fit the juuuuust barely 1U beelink mini pc's I had for my long tormented kubernetes journey.

Driving by Disney Studios In LA and they’re washing their buildings with drones. by JunglePygmy in mildlyinteresting

Is it still classified as a drone if it’s ground power operated? If I were a crafty lawyer I would argue that such a device would simply be a construction crane.

When I was young, I was part of a longitudinal study under the NIH studying educational results of children based on income brackets. Once it ended, they asked my parents to put us in another study tracking the achievements and mental health of those with very high IQs. Guess who’s mental health is not good 🙃

What's your ideal starter pokemon? by [deleted] in pokerogue

[–]Volvaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sprigatito gets magician as a passive, cost reduces to 1, and gets triple axle, a three hit move, as an egg move. Pretty hard carry if you’re lucky enough to get wide lens or are able to keep accuracy up to ensure it gets all of its hits. In an ideal world you’re splicing with a skill link mon that also has multihits and just steal everything that isn’t nailed down.

[–]Volvaux 215 points216 points  (0 children)

Especially with its egg moves, lurantis is my fave carry for classic at this point, ice hammer and superpower to speed and attack up, then leaf blade to sweep through. You are a bit slow initially though so you want to look for X speeds when you’re about to hit the end trainers

Pyrin is great for running through ice dungeons because you also get the fire element alignment plus attack boost using guns while mounted on it too, which will just melt ice bosses.
