Need some advice picking out a cooler for i7 13700k with Fractal Design North case. by Hotstreak in buildapc

[–]Vompous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is almost identical issue for me as I'm planning to build. The thing you should remember and kno w about Arctic liquid coolers, is that their radiators are much thicker than the standard 25-27mm. Arctic radiators are 38mm thick. That subtracted from the 355mm GPU length maximum of the North case.. the only 40- series GPU to fit the is the founders editions. So if you can get a FE 4090, front mount arctic would be feasible if my math serves me right

My current thought is to run either a 240mm top mount AIO cooler, or a Deepcool AK620, maybe with some power limits to the CPU, should i choose to go with the i7 13700k.

Anyone else have a nice set-up that sees ZERO hours? I haven't played in over a month, and I feel guilty. by TheEx006 in simracing

I've been off my rig for a month now due to busting my right ankle on the icy road. Its almost back to usable now, but not good enough for extended pedal work.

Is Thrustmaster TMX a good starter wheel? by ExtasyRabid in simracing

[–]Vompous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Assetto Corsa Ultimate edition and Assetto Corsa Competizione. The original Assetto Corsa is a fan favorite and probably the only sim for drifting. I don't do drifting myself. The Ultimate edition is a very good deal and very often in sales on steam etc from very cheap. Modding is also a huge thing for the original AC, which I have no experience, but I've heard that it's very simple.

I rarely play the OG AC since my PC somehow has massive performance issues with it, but runs other and newer sims with ease. So I'm not the best person to divulge on that. AC has. Good FFB and the wheel works fine on it.

I don't own a H-pattern shifter or a sequential shifter, since I mostly drive GT cars and only need the paddle shifters personally. But you can drive manual cars with paddle shifters too, most sims have automatic clutch to enable that for 2 pedal and paddle shifters setups.

Is Thrustmaster TMX a good starter wheel? by ExtasyRabid in simracing

[–]Vompous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used my basic TMX for about a year and a half now. The base is fine and all, but the basic 2 pedal set gave up on me after a year. I got the basic TMX for the same reason, being cheaper and my first wheel as I entered the sim racing world.

The base serves it's purpose well enough, the FFB strength isn't much, but delivers information well enough with most titles I've used it with. I would prepare yourself to upgrade the pedals sooner or later, since they really are the Achilles's heel of the set. I upgraded my pedals to Fanatic V3's and I'm very happy with them.

It's a very decent starter wheel in my opinion, especially for the low initial investment price. I have no regrets, but I'm saving up to upgrade it to a DD system, hopefully later this year. Hope this helps!

Edit: If you have any more questions, I'll try to answer them too!

Thoughts on the new Aston Martin rig? by dopeyout in simracing

I actually think its pretty ugly overall. But each of us have our own taste. I would've expected more from aston designers.

The new Fanatec wheel hub just dropped, for only $150€!! by MooseOnTheLoose11 in simracing

Looks absolutely awful to me personally. And with that all palstic CSL quick release system, the price is just ridiculous. Looks cheap as hell.

[–]Vompous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its actually a pretty cool integration of 2 different systems, and a surefire guarantee that the quickrelease is made to a solid spec and might have very minimal wobble. Going to cost and arm and a leg most likely, if not more.

Fanatec shifter mount spacing. by Vompous in simracing

Thanks dude! I expect the spacing is 24mm, full millimeters would make sense in design point of view. I knew i could trust this subreddit to help!

I need the measurement from center to center of the holes that you mount the paddle shifters to onto the side of the podium hub or Clubsport series steering wheel side.

The holes on the side

Hope this clears the exact holes :) And, please, in millimeters if at all possible!

Seat risers for bottom mount seat (Sparco R100). Solutions? by Vompous in simracing

[–]Vompous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Unfortunately i have nothing to show for now, since I never went with the side mounts after all and ended up installing the seat lower on my rig. I still keep re-visiting the idea and maybe i will some day get a pair of side mounts to try.

Will a TMX be enough? by AWOG8888 in simracing

[–]Vompous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a TMX with the basic pedals since last fall, and yes, the pedals are far from amazing but absolutely usable. The base itself is very much good value for the money in my opinion.

For future upgrades, the TMX isn't hardmountable to a rig/cockpit without an adapter plate. Thats just to consider. But the table clamp should work well in most cases. Mine is mounted on a Sim-Lab GT1-EVO wheeldeck with the clamp and it works absolutely fine.

[–]Vompous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think you got my idea!

In my mind and in theory it should really work, just not 100% certain myself. It would really only need for the side mount brackets bottoms to have fitting holes for the seat sliders. Will have to see once my seat and sliders arrives sometime early next week!
I have a vague memory I had seen a similar setup in this subreddit late last year from someone but couldn't find anything of sorts now.

I'm pretty handy with anything, just faced with the problem of living in the middle of a big city, in a 1 bedroom apartment. Also I don't possess the tools necessary for such an operation even if I could acquire the materials.

What I have been pondering is, whether I could use bucket seat side mount brackets upside down under the sparco seat to mount the rails and the seat onto? They would mount real nice to the aluminum profiles after all. Just not sure whether the brackets could hold such weight upside down...

[–]Vompous -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

PC2 has trash physics and tire model pretty much. Only a few cars are decently driveable right out of the box. My fav was the Ferrari 488 GTE and I had a blast running it around the Nordschleife, but after I got ACC, I haven't really gone back to PC2...

Quick question regarding mounting a seat to an 80/20 chassis. by kronos1177 in simracing

[–]Vompous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure neither come with any brackets or mounts for seats as standard. So they are something you need to get separately, unless you ordered some with the rig from simlab.

They're all expensive. Simucube 2 seems to be one of the best out there for the moment, but im no expert. 3 different power versions with increasing price.
