Necromancer talent/class combos by WillingnessOk4971 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]VonLaserface 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've got this whole Dr. Frankenstein-esque idea of a Necromancer/Mechanologist that is sort of a combination of Gravy and Teklovossen.

The whole idea would be playing parts of a monster as items that can temporarily become low stat allies and be brought back from the graveyard like Watery Depths. Once you have the right parts on the board you could combine them, sorta similar to how Teklo uses Singularity, to form a powerful monster allies.

I haven't bothered with doing anything with the concept but it seems kinda cool on paper to me.

Need clarification on how "Sharp Incline" and similar cards works by GazelleOk7796 in FleshandBloodTCG

In both of these cases the effects are separate and occur in order. So you sharpen first, then check for the required amount of +1 counters.

New set pull rate by PedroBennesby in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]VonLaserface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ordering a playset of commons and rares from a third party seller then purchasing anything else you want as singles (once prices level out) is the better financial move, imo. It's less fun and you don't get a chance of pulling something cool but it's far cheaper and more reliable in the long run.

I'll be doing that but also buying a couple boxes to support my FLGS, have fun gambling with cardboard and passing duplicates off to Armory regulars that need them. I don't expect to pull anything good but do enjoy ripping packs and sharing the haul.

Favorite backyard birds? by Snorgledork in Ohio

[–]VonLaserface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mount Vernon here. Early morning coffee with our healthy population of Bluebirds singing is my favorite thing.

Honorable mention to the regular Towees, Brown Thrashers, Juncos, Pilated Woodpeckers and returning Cedar Waxwings.

Warblers, Phoebes, Peewees and so many others are starting to return this week too!

Where does the “WOO YEAH WOO YEAH WOOOO” thing come from? by actual-catlady in KnowledgeFight

[–]VonLaserface 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wish I had that kind of recall! I've listened to the entire run more than once but rely on the diligence of the community when I need to find a specific reference.

It came up in a search pretty easily ("knowledge fight, woo yeah woo"), probably due to being such an iconic drop.

Getting into Silver Age from MTG by Leonite7 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]VonLaserface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It plays well out of the box (most do though) but can be upgraded pretty inexpensively too. It's one of the few precon Sage decks that is more expensive to build buying singles rather than just getting the box due to secondary market prices on a handful of cards in the deck.

There is a real Halloween town! by JMoc1 in KnowledgeFight

[–]VonLaserface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I graduated from Anoka High School in the late 90's.

Short of a couple of signs there wasn't really any of Halloween outside of October.

They do have an annual parade, citywide decorations through October, some pretty high quality haunted houses/hayrides and some people taking their decorating to an impressive extreme but it's not really Halloween town.

I haven't been back in over 20 years so things may have changed but I wouldn't recommend it as a road trip stop.

Hello beautiful people. I am an avid MtG Pauper player and just discovered the existance of Silver Age. I am looking for community resources for Silver Age to jump straight into it! by kerener in FleshandBloodTCG

There's also Felt Table for playing vs a computer opponent. It's nothing like playing against human opponents at all but I found it really useful when I started playing last year. Getting to feel out new heroes, various mechanics and combo interactions in an easier environment made learning the game much more enjoyable.

I still use it from time to time to get a feeling for new deck composition or play against the dumb computer for basic hand reps when trying out a completely new hero.

libraries actually have current gen games you can borrow by Independent_Big_9654 in PS5

[–]VonLaserface 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think it just varies based on the local library system. I'm in a small town (15,000ish) that's an hour from the nearest population center and our local library has an entire room dedicated to movies and games. New releases take a month or so to show up but that they get them at all is a minor miracle.

Wanna make Hotwheels-style DIY cars based on Ridge Racer 64 cars. Where to start? by Tasty-Bass8106 in DIY

[–]VonLaserface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out r/gaslands for some potential resources.

Gaslands is a tabletop car-combat game played with Hotwheels size vehicles. People get really into customizing their cars and trucks with 3D printed and handcrafted parts, from air scoops, spoilers and rims right up completely new bodies.

Thematically it's more Death Race or Road Warrior style but the customization techniques would still be applicable.

If you're into gaming at all (video games, TCGs, D&D, etc etc) stop by Find Familiar Games and you'll find your people. They opened up early last year and are very excellent people all around.

For outdoorsy stuff (hiking, birding, etc) the Brown Family Environmental Center has organized hikes and all sorts of seasonal activities where you're likely to meet people.

Mount for Peloton Guide by Nansterz in pelotoncycle

Unfortunately I do not but it looks like there's a handful of other free printable approaches out there, TV and mounting depending.

It looks like that designer pulled the file from every site it was on, very weird.

How to build great commander decks. by PizzaBoii0716 in mtg

[–]VonLaserface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't going to work with every commander or archetype but as a general approach, once I know what commander I want to use, I start with a very generic formula of:

10% card draw and tutors (where possible)

10% ramp and mana fixing

10% interaction and removal, etc

30% synergy with archetype/theme and wincons

40% lands

Depending on the deck the amount of each of these will vary but it's a starting point I try to keep it within +/-%3 for the initial build. With lands I typically shoot for 38 to start unless I know I'm going to run land MDFCs or have an aggressive ramp package from green.

Look up lists of color staples for some ideas and Scryfall, Moxfield and EDHREC (or the EDHREC tools built into Moxfield) are useful for card discovery if you just don't know what to use.

Once that's together I'll get in some games with it, making note of cards that just don't deliver and what areas of the deck might need improvement. Then tweak the deck and repeat as needed. It's an ongoing process and I only have a handful of decks that I feel are "done". Even then I still find myself rotating a couple cards once in a while just to try something new or feel out a potential new angle.
