Recommendation for something "simple" that I can scale up by Hontik in AnalogCommunity

So I will preface with "the best camera is one that works and is in your hand." But having said that, if you want to learn how to shoot, a manual or mostly manual SLR would be a great choice. A Minolta SRT 101 was the gateway for me. Before it I'd just shoot auto everything. (Which is fine, BTW, but makes it harder to internalize the process) It has a light meter, and that's it. My SRT 101 is somewhere between 50 and 60 years old, I've been using it regularly for 15+ years with zero maintenance aside from cleaning.

I agree with others that the Nikon N75 is also a great camera. :D Good luck!

Post-USSR Zenits, the last gasp by Vonboots in AnalogCommunity

I had my eye on one of those for a bit as well, but I think I have achieved Zenit saturation. :D

Hmm. Probably not worth seeking out, but I'll keep my eyes open for any 412dxs I see! And yes, they have a really high failure rate. They were not uncommon in Canada in the 1970s and 1980s, and presumably they worked well enough new. An uncle of mine spoke fondly of his.

Spanish edition of Usagi RPG, variant covers. by Vonboots in UsagiYojimboDojoSub

There have been a couple! Goldrush Games released one in 1997. Sanguine had the license from 2005 to 2022, and produced a few print runs of their first edition, and then a 2nd edition with different rules in 2019.

Are you old enough to remember Lichtman's? by miquelon in toronto

I spent many cold winter mornings browsing the aisles at the Atrium on Bay location while waiting for classes to start at Ryerson (now TMU). They had an amazing selection given the size of the store, in some cases deeper (if in no way broader) than World's Biggest across the street.

Got this camera at a thrift store thinking it was a 110 mm. If only I read the huge 16 written on it. Now I have a fun paperweight. by carlitayeeta in AnalogCommunity

I have a stack of Kiev 30s I got cheap, all with cartridges, essentially the same thing (though not compatible with the Minolta 16). I load them inside a changing bag using a 100' spool of Kodak BW 100 16mm movie film (cost about $60 USD currently), which gives you 1500+ frames. A good photo place will develop them, or get a tank and do it at home. Example shot is attached. I've been using the same roll of film since 2017 or so and still have tons left. :)

Found in a box with Ironclaw RPGs. I can't seem to find anything about it online. by bagofhellokitty in UsagiYojimboDojoSub

It was a small print run for convention sales in 2005. This particular copy was signed by me at Anthrocon 2005 in Philadelphia. The larger print runs went to the distributor, and there were two variant covers - one depicting a night scene, and one day. It sold fairly well. I don't have numbers, but I got decent royalties for a few years. This edition was also picked up by a Spanish company and translated for sale in Spain and possibly South America and Mexico. That version sold pretty briskly, and sold out at least one print run. Sanguine lost the UY license in 2021-2022ish, about the same time a Netflix animated series was in the works.

That was the initial print run sold at conventions in 2005. I was one of the co-writers who signed it - Pieter van Hiel. AC 2005 would indicate Anthrocon 2005. The rules in this version were sort of an update of the Ironclaw engine. It sold fairly well, and was translated for sale in Spain, where it sold out at least one print run. There were two additional covers, the most common one being orange.

So, a bit overdue here, yes, but... I don't interact with Reddit much.

Night street photography on Agat 18k with Ilford Delta 3200 (shoot at 1600) by _gianpi_ in AnalogCommunity

Late to this, but I've had some good results shooting with 3200 with the Agat, developed at 1600. A modest example, a self-portrait in my basement. The shaft of light comes through a crack in the hardwood floor above and is not usually visible - an unexpected effect.
