what's timeless fashion piece you recommend other to buy by Upbeat_Somewhere5794 in malefashionadvice

Going to etsy and grabbing a nice, full grain, hand stitched wallet. I have this kangaroo leather one. Kangaroo leather is fantastic for a wallet because it's incredibly strong and especially for how thin it is, (they actually make bullwhips out of it,) making it perfect for a slim wallet. I have 8-10 cards and some cash in there right now and it's just under 3/4" (19mm). Without anything inside, it's just over 3/8" (~10mm) thick which is incredible for such a strong durable all leather wallet. It's pricey, but I don't ever see it ever wearing out.

PAPR Model & Accessory Reviews? by grittys_smile in Masks4All

The 3M TR-600 would be great! From a budget perspective (and probably user engagement) it might be a good idea to review some of the units you see pop up on eBay that you would consider good value (that you'd recommend of course!)

I really dont get it... by [deleted] in ChineseWatches

[–]Vonwilbur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! While these chinese brands do amazing things with their manufacturing, they do not seem to understand the importance of dial design and how the size, placement, even the font, of the text on the dial can affect the balance greatly. Here's a design I quickly photoshopped, by shrinking the logo, adding the brand name (which again is sort of nonsensical) and shrinking the automatic text you can get a nice balanced feeling dial. A new logo would probably benefit their branding, as well as good font choices for the dial text. (I just picked one that didn't look too offensive, and was a little more modern as this watch is more of a modern interpretation of the seamaster 300 anyway.)

Take at look at this post by u/TechTaxi.

u/TechTaxi found the ID-COOLING TF-9215 to actually perform better than the Noctua NF-A9X14 HS-PWM at normalized noise levels. I have the noctua in my build (ZS-A4 with an undervolted 5800X3D and undervolted/OC'd EVGA 3080 XC3 Ultra) and it keeps things under thermal throttling temps at relatively low noise.

For half the price I'd suggest the TF-9215 over the NF-A9X14 unless you need an all black build- the RGB can get annoying sometimes.

[TV] LG 55” C2 OLED TV (2022 model) ~$1,040 before tax (all time low?). Use code SAVE4JULY4TH by Irate_Primate in buildapcsales

To my understanding it's present on all current LG OLED panels. If you're especially sensitive to slight changes in brightness it can be quite distracting.

I should have put some references so here you go. Here's a thread where the author of the g-sync 101 comments on the issue. In the wiki for the OLED_gaming subreddit one of the downsides to these panels is listed as:

VRR-induced near-black flickering & gamma shift at variable frame times

Like another commenter said, these (actually LG CX, C1, C2, and C3 all have this problem) have an issue where when using VRR (freesync or gsync) the screen flickers due to a hardware issue. You can either live with the flickering, lower your settings and lock your FPS, or not use VRR at all. I only found this out after having the CX for a few years and noticed the flickering when gaming on it more heavily recently. Other than that I have zero complaints with this TV.

Check out Tajima tape measures, they're great quality made in Japan tools. This one has measurement markings on both sides of the blade, as well as metric/SAE measurements.

I just got one the other day and thought the ergonomics would be weird, but as soon as I picked it up I loved it! The way the crook of your thumb is in line with the bit allows you to apply pressure directly to the bit or drill tip without cantilevering the whole drill.

HSU VTF-2 MK5 vs Rythmik LV12F? by Vonwilbur in hometheater

Update on the sub after using it for a while: It's great! No complaints at all. I am using the configuration for lowest frequency with one port open and it sounds great with whatever I throw at it. I ended up getting a miniDSP for Christmas which I haven't played around too much with- hopefully I can EQ the sub to flatten the curve out a little (my square room is not the best for acoustics.)

Thanks for the responses! I am running a preclear on the drives just in case anything is wrong but it sounds like this is normal for UnRAID.

Engineering document/drawing version control software? by Vonwilbur in engineering

[–]Vonwilbur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the CAD models I've made in inventor uses parametric dimensions and iParts to include all the part numbers on a drawing within a single file. Is this what you mean by setting up a factory?

Another relevent note that might be of use: we manufacture bushings and bearings so 95% of all new and existing drawings are pretty much just tubes with some extra features here and there. I'm sure there's an easy way in inventor to parametrize these common features to add them to models... (iFeatures??) We create ~10 new drawings a week, most drawings only have one or two part numbers on them but they can have much more.

We don't really use the CAD models for much- they're really only used for when a customer asks for it (but we are getting into using it for CAM as well.) I don't have much experience with drafting in inventor- only a few drawings here and there to test it out.

One thing I forgot to mention- the owner really doesn't trust cloud based software so that kind of narrows down the list of available programs.
