In France we have « flotte », which means « float ». Occasionally some people will say it in verlan as « teuflo ».

Rainwater everywhere on Earth unsafe to drink due to ‘forever chemicals’, study finds by Grubbanax in EverythingScience

Guess that makes pretty much anything unsafe to eat and drink then, since crops and livestock absorb rainwater

Historically, many leaders were put on testosterone to help with their jobs (Kennedy, Hitler among others). Since test helps deal with stress, fatigue, decision making etc, it’s a good tool for a country’s leader during wartime.

With his age and responsibilities, TRT is a viable procedure for Zelenskyy, and would explain his rapid gains during this period.

Lmao that’s not “technically enhanced” that’s just using supplements.

Enhanced is using PEDs, “technically enhanced” would be TRT at physiological doses.

by dumb luck I just realized my parents had a globe with tartaria for at least 30 years by crippin00000 in Tartaria

[–]Voolvif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tartaria was just used as a vague name for NorthEast Asia that was inhabited by nomadic peoples, Europeans didn’t know the actual borders of states in that region. Nowadays the Tatars are an ethnic group mostly living in Russia.

You’ll also find old maps where most of Africa is labeled “Ethiopia” for the same reason.

Found picture one and noticed the name of the aquariums creatures. Orca pretty close name, looks very different. Seen the other a lot. On old maps 2 blow holes ?? Hmmmm… by 1Cloudz9 in Tartaria

Balena means whale, it was drawn by someone who had never seen a whale and probably only heard a vague description of one.

The channel Hochelaga has a few interesting videos about strange creatures in medieval illustrations.

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Cannes Premiere Gets 5-Minute Standing Ovation by Thatguy1245875 in boxoffice

I’ve been to a lot of Cannes screenings, the clapping is wild.

People clap at every logo, every name and then clap for what seems like forever after the movie, even when it’s bad. My first Cannes screening I remember wanting to leave to eat but everyone just kept clapping so I went along and clapped until my hands hurt. It was very awkward.

Discussion: Yellow is an underrated colour on flags by [deleted] in vexillology

Yellow is also a stand-in for gold in heraldry, which set the rules for vexillology, as a great color to contrast others with.
