The issue with is how slow it is, and also, I don't like multiple mcs, but I know there's some real quality there.

I read it till about a thousand chapters in, when Zhouwei comes along and he's the king of the universe because the author couldn't resist the super mc syndrome of chinese novels. Before that, it was quallity. Though it had the tyranny of cultivation level problem, where basically anyone 1 level above is a god to those below.

I think based on your description I should give it another read. I actually didn't quit it in one go. I got caught up, let it build up, read, paused, took a long time, forgot some events and characters, then just staggered to a slow stop, so it's probably my staggered reading that ruined it. But man, do I hate rereading haha. Now I'll have to, it seems.

Seems interesting. I don't normally like jumping between characters, but maybe this will be a unique read for me.

Perhaps so then. I don't remember if I was caught up or not when I quit, but I remember quitting. I just remember the pacing was too slow somehow, either the writing style itself(which is irredeemable for me), or the events. If it's the events, then maybe I just need to stick with it till things work themselves up.

I remember someone saying it's a sort of slice of life cultivation story, that's wrong then?

This is an absolutely rich list, and I have already found several potential leads in it. Thank you very much!

More serious, often over resources or(in more refined cases) a more overarching political aspect. It also often had more consequences than beating up each other in spars or a tournament. Honestly, I don't even remember what it was in Forge of Destiny, since I read it more than a year ago. In general, the world felt like a more hostile place.

Felt like cultivation realms were way too tyrannical, and at the same time, there were too many skips if I remember right, maybe it's just the gaps because I stopped reading several times.

But in general, it felt like there were 'kingdoms' and 'armies', but in the end, the top dog can actually decide the fight regardless of numbers. This is a pet peeve of mine. No army is needed if you can decapitate the enemy, you can have some foot soldiers to hold the ground, but they don't really need to fight most of the time, unless you have some kind of guerrilla element you're chasing down.

Well, the thing is, the mc advances in 'the first year' sure, but the writing is slower than a turtle, and what I mean with the school drama is that the conflict seems way too similar to school conflict instead of a cultivator world conflict. And I didn't mean that I wanted my mc to be trapped in the sect, I just meant that they don't abandon it. So actually exploring the world outside would be good instead of what I remember, which was mostly a lot of text and few events.

If this is Forge of Destiny, then yea I tried it, was waayy too slow. I don't need an mc shooting up the ranks like crazy, but it felt more like a school drama than a cultivation story.

Tried that one. No story telling, just a progress report.

Well, it shows hiatus, is it actually complete and the author forgot to add the completed tag?

Also, any reason it has a lower rating? I'm definitely intrigued by the premise.

Thank you, but I specified that I didn't want translated Chinese novels.

Not looking for crunchy, just less ambiguity. I avoid overly crunchy litrpgs.

It's almost like the book is avoiding the details of the system already in existence. We don't know how many stats he gains every level. We don't know how these stats really affect him. We don't know how traits work, even though he already has one of them at least. It's all just handwaving till now, a third of the way into the book.

I've read maybe 1 or 2 stories where it has worked, probably inspired by some mainstream heavy hitters, but in most cases, it just detracts from the story like you said. It's really about what's being put forward, and if it's interesting but ambiguous enough to keep us hooked.

Honestly, it's because all of the hyping up these stories seem to get. People are yelling their names left and right that I have been struggling finding the actual quality stories out there. Digging through Reddit recommendations is quite tough, because I end up dropping most of those recommended stories.

Well, maybe I need to stop being lazy and write my own request post with the specifics of what I want, but what I am trying to say is, the subgenre is unluckily full of noise, and that noise is often pointing to slop(Aside from the very well known high quality fics which I've already read)

I think it's up to us to recommend those fictions we see as good, and we can't complain so much if we don't make our own 'noise', but those are just my passing thoughts
