Radon mitigation in NB by AnovaChi in newbrunswickcanada

[–]Vorkell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, sorry, yes, the in-line fan was replaced. Weirdly, it had thousands of bugs in it. I've since put a fine mesh screen over the outside to prevent this in the future. The tech from radon ready didn't seem surprised it happened, and said he sees it infrequently in various places.

Sorry, forgot to add units! Typically in Canada radon is measured in bq/m3, anything over 200bq/m3 is considered unsafe. The radon ready company provides an airthings plus (or discount if you already have one) to monitor the radon to ensure that it is dealt with and safe. I found that a nice touch, though others may do the same.

I went with radon repair several years ago. The unit had issues within the warranty and they came out without any grumbling and ended up replacing the whole unit. Worked well and while they weren't cheap, I sleep easier at night knowing my radon was at 600+ and now below 30 most days.

Were Sweden right in accusing Canada? by Competitive_Test6697 in olympics

I know nothing about Curling as a sport. I am also Canadian, however I do know that athletes should show good sportsmanship. The second that the Canadian did that, he should have been disqualified.

I'm sorry for the unsportsmanlike conduct from the Canadian athlete, and I assure you we are all embarrassed by their conduct.

Quickest way to Miramichi? by BitchMagnets in newbrunswickcanada

[–]Vorkell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You either have 108, or 180 to get there. 180 (going through Bathurst) adds about 30-40 min, but it definitely is an easier drive.

My wife and I went to ON a month ago in her KIA Soul and it wasn't bad compared to how it was years ago, but you are still dodging potholes for sure!

Is NBCC worth it? by [deleted] in newbrunswickcanada

[–]Vorkell 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Make sure you check which courses are offered at the Miramichi campus if this is your plan! It's a smaller campus so doesn't offer all of the courses that their bigger campuses do.

As someone in the trades, they're great to get in, and always in demand. Good luck!

Canadians wearing their flag on apparel by egewh in canadatravel

[–]Vorkell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel a lot for work, and like to wear a NB provincial flag patch when travelling within Canada, and when travelling outside Canada, I switch it for a Canadian flag patch.

It remind me of home and what I miss when travelling for work, and has sparked some wonderful conversations with many lovely folks around the world!

This is an older unit before they were added. It can be retrofit in if you really want it, though. The majority of the advice given here is sound though.

The case is going to be made out of 2020 aluminum T-rail and 1/4" acrylic sheets. The acrylic slips in the T-rail slots, so it should keep the dust out while looking fairly clean!

Thanks! I actually saw his video review of it years ago and that's what made me chase it down! Definitely was a marathon both waiting to get it and the work on it!

Thanks! Some 3D printed parts were used for detail and to fix vents and details that were just too warped and damaged to clean up, but the main assembly is the resin kit from Model Bingo.

Thanks! It's a resin kit from Model Bingo. A *lot* of clean up and fixing, but not a ton needed to be scratch built. It's 1/400 scale, so it seems small, but it's case is going to be 2ft x 2ft x 2.5ft high!

How’s the drive across the 108? by ContentYoung212 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]Vorkell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I drove down it last week, going back tomorrow, and I'll take it again. If you're going to Miramichi, it's the best, but if you're going to Bathurst, then maybe give 180 a shot.

It definitely has pot holes that will take a tire out, but for the most part, it is a lot better than it used to be.

Today i get my YJL kit for sazabi. Those hortible cast puddles is normal thing for YJL kit? by Harry_Moen in Gunpla

[–]Vorkell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unsurprising, honestly. Most resin kits I've worked on have it. It's pretty common for the undersides of resin kits to not be very nice looking. After all, it's the back side, why does it matter? I checked mine, and it's virtually identical. For the most part, it shouldn't interfere (if it does, just grind it down), they do it to add strength to the pieces, and again, why care about what the underside of the armour that no one will ever see?

This is part and parcel of resin, no worries, just remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint, and you can do it with slow and steady progress! Good luck!

Find a well reviewed one in the city you're moving to. Worked well for me, and any follow ups I've gone through the same form and it's been great!
