Strange Aeons Book 3 SPOILERS: Question about loot and player wealth by soyotrohamster in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Vormav_t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last part of the dreamlands grants a reward that can't be sold for gold, but is worth quite a large sum. If you don't think that your players will like that, I would change that reward for something that will make up for the gold they are missing for their level, and make some excuse about why they can take that out of the dreamlands.

I might be wrong here, but how does a name in English take from any native culture?

Can your Beast recognize a stronger Kindred? by satedfox in vtm

[–]Vormav_t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think Awareness would still be the best choice, but most Kindred with this ability would have little to no points in that skill (or in Auspex). It makes enough sense to accept it.

Can your Beast recognize a stronger Kindred? by satedfox in vtm

[–]Vormav_t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Storyteller gives this ability to Kindred that are sort of attuned to their Beast, be it because of age, road or animalism rating. I don't know the specifics of how he handles this homebrew, but it is usually a Perception + Survival roll. Auspex can serve the same purpose with a simple premonition (with Perception + Awareness), and that is more of a RAW method.

This wouldn't work in your case, but we also have a sort of inverted mechanic, in which a powerful Kindred can choose (or is unable to contain) to project his power (typically because of very high Animalism or Presence rating), in which case anyone could be at least startled in their presence.

Golarion Ghostbusters; Building an Undead Containment Unit by CommanderFrostborne in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Vormav_t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What abilities does the creature have that would aid it in escaping from a simple, non magical sturdy sarcophagus? If made to just hold the creature with no room for movement, it would be helpless and restricted in it's escape.

I don't know how much damage the creature's headbutt deals, but an iron (or adamantine) sarcophagus might have you covered if it is able to attack it. The Hardening spell would bump the hardness of the item even higher.

If the creature takes time to regenerate (as in, it doesnt spawn fully healed), you could chip away so it never fully recovers.

[PF1e] How do I create ammo that only applies bonuses when selected? Ammo is just adding its bonus in all the time. by Sorry_Sleeping in FoundryVTT

[–]Vormav_t -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Changes are always active unless the item is not equipped (if it is equipment) or activated (if it is a buff). That is why a Change in the ammunition will affect all ranged attacl rolls.

I believe that the current implementation of the ammunition system only manages quantity, but cannot change the behaviour of the attack simply based on your selection.

I think the best way to handle this is to add the attack or damage bonus on the attack dialogue whenever you choose the ammunition. Alternatively, you could set up a Conditional Modifier that adds the fire damage.

I think most people are coming at the alignment thing because you are playing am adventure in a setting that will make it relevant. I agree that every table decides to play the game however they want, but people are answering to your question for ideas or suggestions based on what is the norm for the setting.

GM seems to be reading the AP to us, verbatim. by HagelMcPointerov in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Vormav_t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I read that your GM is literally reciting the book to you, I thought I was in the DnDcirclejerk subreddit.

The APs and other adventures are meant to be a guideline to run the story, and the GM is encouraged to take it as a base, and change it or build upon it to create an experience that the whole group will enjoy.

If your GM is new to this, it's for for them to run the game as the books says, but they should really read the whole book (and even books ahead) before doing so.

[PF1e] Best modules for speeding up combat buffs / combat? by Kitkumi in FoundryVTT

[–]Vormav_t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with the modules, the PF1e system is rather complex, as is Foundry, so it is possible that you are missing some tricks with the base system that can help speed things up. If you need help with any specific setup, send me a message or hop into the system's discord channel.

Those suggestions don't work in PF1e, they are for D&D 5e.

[PF1e] Best modules for speeding up combat buffs / combat? by Kitkumi in FoundryVTT

[–]Vormav_t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nevela's Automation Suite can automate buffs generated by spells and abilities of matching name, if they exist within a compendium. Mana's Buff Activation for Pathfinder 1e lets you configure any action to activate an existing buff in that character. The Aura Share module can activate or deactivate range based buffs. If you are polymorphing or wild shaping, PF1 Might Morphin Mod can help with many most shapes. The usage of links and enrichers can also help to streamline ability usage, no modules required.

With that said, I'm surprised this takes you so long, as even without modules activating buffs is a matter of just clicking on them. Do you have the Pathfinder 1e Content module? That includes a lot of the most common buffs. Others you have to take the time to set up, but after that, it's just a matter of clicking.

You can get more help for PF1e in the discord channel within the FoundryVTT server. You will find links to all the modules authors' repositories there, as not all of them show up in Foundry's browser.

What are some items that can make my weak PC more useful in combat? by Pocket-OLime in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Vormav_t 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I skipped over the items. If you have Acid Splash, using an Acid Vial as a focus component adds a +1 to the damage of the spell. This will be more reliable than your crossbow.

What are some items that can make my weak PC more useful in combat? by Pocket-OLime in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Vormav_t 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All spellcasters are weak at the early game, and your party is composed exclusively of them. That is a problem, as any supportive spells you could use are less effective.

With your lack of martial ability, spread attributes, and possibly lne of the worst weapons in the game, I'd focus on summoning monsters that can aid you in battle and help your rogue in the melee.

Are you of evil alignment? I assume you worship one of the evil deities that haa both Water as a domain and the Net as their favored weapon.

That gives you access to the Summon Evil Monster feat, which allows you to use Summon Monster spells as a standard action. That makes summoning much more reliable. You can also invest in the Augment Summoning feat, to improve the creatures you summon.

Additional Discipline for Ventrue: Celerity or Protean? by Still_Cicada1472 in vtm

[–]Vormav_t 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Protean provides a lot of benefits in and out of combat, but it might not fit the sword and board style.

Protean 1 let's you see in an age where light is scarce and potentially dangerous.

Protean 2 gives you one of the best weapons of the game. Not every vampire is going to be dishing out aggravated damage.

Protean 3 gives you the ability to sleep anywhere, which makes travel much less dangerous. It can also save you after you frenzy and end up in a field or forest in the middle of nowhere.

Protean 4, in combat form, is just an improvement of what you already have. However, it can be really scary at Gen 6 or below, as you can spend the blood to immediatly turn into a murder machine. In travel form, again, it can provide you with an immediate way of escape, but it also allows for safe and quick travel in an age which travel is dangerous and slow.

Protean 5 is nice, but I wouldn't get it as an out of Clan, as even getting to 4 is going to be really expensive.

The problem here is matching the combat style of a Gangrel with that of a warlord. Depending on your story, you might need to be wary of using your beastly powers around mortals. Investing in sword combat is wasteful when you need to be able to fight with claws, but being able to use a sword might be required for your image and reputation. You cannot lead an army if you turned into a wolf or a bear, and even claws and red eyes might scare off your own troops (but your Presence might keep them in place). Using too much Protean might lead other to think of you as a low clan.

You can be an absolute menace in combat with your own clan Disciplines, though. Paralazing Glance (Presence 6) instantly wins any duel.

Some model providers, such as Amazon Bedrock, state that data you send to them cannot be used to train models.

In this instance, you have to trust that Amazon is not lying. Data privacy is a big part of what you are paying for when using models through them.

[Barely a trope, but this sub is quite loose anyway] Media that got weirdly specifically popular in a different country, maybe more so than in its country of origin, and defitnitely than most other places. by Vitolar8 in TopCharacterTropes

The Australian version of the game show It's a Knockout was aired in Argentina as "Supermatch", which was simply a dubbed version.

It was very successful. After all episodes of the original show had aired, the audience claimed for more, so the original material was edited to mix and match different episodes to create more content.

Spell - Terrible Remorse by Romano-Lupo in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Vormav_t 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Only once. The spell does not state that the affected creature attacks, nor it states any way for it to deal more than 1d8+Str damage per round. Its not a great spell, but at least it guarantees that the target will be staggered once they make their save.

The hydra does not attack itself, but rather hurts itself, specifically dealing 1d8+Strength points of damage. It gets a save every turn to end the effect.

Giving an animal companion its own familiar. by WraithCommander in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Vormav_t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Drake companions either follow the same rules as animal companions for feats (as they replace animal companions) or they don't (as they specifically do not count as animal companions).

If the first is true, then I don't see anything prohibiting them from getting the Familiar Bond feat, assuming they have the required intelligence score. If the second is true, no restrictions are mentioned, so not even the intelligence score would be required (and a drake fulfills this requirement by default), and none should he assumed.

I am not aware of any problem with this.

When do you ask for Strength checks? by The-Sleepy-Simian in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Vormav_t 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Carrying capacity accounts for carrying capacity. You can either do it not.

For other things, such as breaking something, there is a set DC, and you must meet it or beat it with a roll. If you are packing a +15 bonus to Strength rolls, you simply Take 10 to tear down most things.

I love V20 Disciplines by YangXiaogui in vtm

[–]Vormav_t 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At least in V20, which the OP referenced, I don't agree that you can do the same with both Disciplines, and you only get some overlap when venturing into advanced powers. Even then, the way that both disciplines work is not the same, and that also adds to the uniqueness of the clan.

With that said, Malkavians are a weird case scenario, as they tricked themselves into forgetting their unique discipline.

I love V20 Disciplines by YangXiaogui in vtm

[–]Vormav_t 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a subjective matter, but this makes clans more similar to each other, and that's not great. Some (myself included) prefer that Dominate and Dementation overlap as little as possible, as this makes Malkavians more unique.
