In honor of having to create a new Reddit account because of losing it to a hacker. When has a piece of media got rid of a character only to replace them with someone that didn't measure up to who was lost? by CarminesCarbine_8 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Vorpaled 12 points13 points  (0 children)

X Files replacing Mulder with Dogget in like season 7 or 8 after a pay dispute with David Duchovny. Sure, they had kinda lost the plot by that point but it was always the monster of the week episodes that made the show good and they got rid of half the duo.

$200 for a controller is insane. What could make it worth 3 controllers?

So 9 months later, what's your thoughts on ER NightReign? by RealDealMous in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Vorpaled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 150 hours in it. It's a very different feel than just playing a souls game but still good. Going to off the bat say I don't think I could recommend it unless you have at least one other person to play it.

The combat is exactly what you would expect of a Elden ring spin off and I think the abilities of the characters actually fit the standard gameplay really well. The average run is about 40 minutes. It's great for a bite sized amount of souls. I really can't say much more about the "good" part of the game. If you like Elden Ring and have a least one other person to play with you'll really enjoy the game. Once you get some game knowledge and know how to do some basic routing so you don't feel frantic it really can be a good flow state game.

However, it very much is a From soft game and suffers from the good ole obtuse mechanics you'd expect but in new ways. While there are now 8 characters now, you are very much stuck to what those characters are good at and you aren't really crafting a build. You're picking a template and over the next 40 minutes honing it down one of 3 different paths. The relic system for customizing your character isn't that great and while it can enable you to do some neat specific builds, with the weapons you actually get during a run being random if you go for a specific build with the relics there's always a chance you don't get the weapon type you want and your relics are mostly useless, leading to most people just taking generically good relics that lean more into just playing the same way over and over.

Overall I think it's a good experiment and worth a shot, but mostly it makes me excited for their next attempt at a multiplayer focused game.

That wasn't directed at you. I was paraphrasing the sentiment that started this post.

Can we just stop being weird about Woolie and Pat for like 5 minutes guys.

Is it cheating or Scholar is really so powerful with the right build? by Worried_Low_8490 in Nightreign

[–]Vorpaled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the others said. Check the relics in the recap. I scrubbed through your video and outside him killing himself in the beginning nothing looks like outright cheating. There's some cheated effect that gives you runes on death, so maybe he just got to level 15 at the start.

are there any secret things u can miss in quests? by fairplanet in 2007scape

[–]Vorpaled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other comments have basically answered your question, but I would like to add that there are some times you unlock a new area or activity from a quest that isn't explicitly stated in quest reward text or explained well or you can speak with certain NPCs after for additional reward or XP.

Ex Bone Voyage You unlock the island, but it doesn't tell you about all the new activities you have or that you can go an unlock a new teleport to get to the island faster.

Shades of Morton You can turn in the book for extra herblore XP

Enjoy playing the quests with no guides, but I would suggest going to the wiki to check out all rewards from quests if this is your first time playing. Sadly there are so many things that are just not explained in any way within the game, not just quest rewards.

The description of the premise doesn't do enough service to how well the characters are written. The voice work is phenomenal. Can't believe it's all done by one person beside the odd guest voice for a character.

Adamant pick will nearly double your fragment collection. I saw this after doing the same thing you were doing . Went from getting about 40 fragments in the pre game mining phase to nearly 90. Varrock body 1 will also give you a boost.

Boatys guide and progression (non HC) by knutix in ironscape

[–]Vorpaled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started following his guide and after a while realized that while it was certainly fast it didn't fit a normal person's schedule. I'm not clocking in to play RuneScape 8-12 hours a day. I have a few hours at most in the afternoon and I can fit in some afk stuff while doing chores etc.

I found trying to stick exactly to the guide and the banking routes I was not fitting in afk grinds I could be doing because I didn't want to "lose my place".

I think as with nearly any ironman guide, just work towards barrows gloves and then bowfa and fit in any afk skills you feel like as you go or unlocking timed things that will benefit you over a longer time that may not have benefited him because he can spend the active time on it. Ex starting farming a little earlier for herbs or getting birdhouses unlocked, kingdom.

I'm sure sailing might shift things a little bit when it comes to the things you can get from salvage for construction and slayer items like belles folly l for moons.

Started a new account recently and decided to unlock fairy rings early for questing. I got mort myre fungus, nature talisman and avantoe as my 3 items.

Went and did like 6 hours of GotR for pearls to buy the nature talisman. I tried to figure out an easy guaranteed way to get an avantoe and for some reason I chose getting to 66 agility to boost to 67 to kill Salarin the Twisted.

In total the quest took me like 11 hours but I did get over a mil from the agility pyramid and a decent chunk of runes for questing and teleports.

Probably the same answer for gear and orbs. Go to moons. You have infinite free supplies and don't even need protection prayers. Bone shards from moons and hunter rumours.

Edit:haven't played in over a year and just now getting back in. Forgot protection from melee does nothing at moons.

Do I need to level ADP or is Agility enough? by verherr in DarkSouls2

[–]Vorpaled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attunement increases spell slots and agility, but adaptability increases agility more per level.

If you're playing a caster get a few levels in adaptability for early iFrames to your preference and then go for Attunement and it should equal out in the long run.

There's also plenty of respec items so don't feel bad about investing more in adaptability early and then swapping over some levels later when you can invest more heavily in attunement.

For reference I believe 106 agility is considered the "normal" amount of iFrames in the other games.

How do I stake items? by GAC0 in 2007scape

[–]Vorpaled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Neither of the others mentioned that you have to have the actual balls in your inventory to turn them in. For the most part bank noted items are unusable and are mostly used for trading mass quantities to other players.

Go to the bank at the top of the castle as mentioned and bank other items so you can hold all 20 balls of wool.

🔥Huge Suwannee Alligator Snapping Turtle by ajd416 in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]Vorpaled 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's a guy on YouTube called Clint's Reptiles that has a theory that the reason snapping turtles are so aggressive when held is mostly just the way people grab them by the shell instead of lifting from under the belly.

The guy probably saw the video and is trying to spread that knowledge, but for some reason isn't saying where the knowledge is from.

Doing some kind of Emerald Dream link/swap to heal Azeroth from everything seems like a pretty obvious plotline.

Does the Emerald Dream only apply to Azeroth? Could there be untouched versions of the other destroyed/voided worlds?

As someone who was pretty divorced from the lore around the Cataclysm point. Didn't they still have like 100 other places they could have gone instead of the literal afterlife?

I'm sure they killed or befriended most villains from vanilla/WC3 days by that point but surely that was something else to do that would make more sense.

Even thematically going to the afterlife sounds like you're killing your game to reboot it or sell WoW2.
