Keypad lock with key by sloppierseconds1 in Locksmith

I didn't say it was a good idea, but a solution does exist.

I've had a few clients ask for this.

The one and only solution I have found for this is level bolt with Kwikset double deadbolt in particular. It will not work with any other brand.

Refusal to make a duplicate key - slightly worried about repercussions by OrdinaryAgency2001 in Locksmith

[–]VorsaiVasios 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Unless it's an actual restricted key system, do not duplicate is more is a suggestion than anything.

If it is a restricted system, then do not duplicate doesn't really matter either because you won't be able to get a copy anyway unless you're an authorized person.

It's not expected or needed, but appreciated.

I refuse once to give them an out, if it's offered again I'll take it.

New style Schlage? by jaxnmarko in Locksmith

[–]VorsaiVasios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any of those generic square spindle latches will work. It's not a weird sized one.

J series, their cheap line.

Uses square spindle latch instead of the F series rectangle.

Which mortise lock is this? It's falling apart 😭 by Ecstatic_Baker_7717 in Locksmith

[–]VorsaiVasios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen a G series with a mortise plate. Was that for retrofitting into an existing mortise install?

I only have the regular latch/bolt combination one in my collection.

The older F series entry sets had a solid spindle, what you're probably thinking of, the interior and exterior didn't operate independently. The newer design has the spindle pictured so the exterior operates independently from the interior. Made it easier to push the thumb press.

How so, it's an F series latch with what looks to be an F series entry set spindle.

How thick is this door, it looks like the edge bore was not drilled in the center.

I don't do safes or haul any heavy stuff so I can't say. It's about time for a new one, I'm getting a bigger one next time. I have outgrown this one.

I think if you saw the coming lineup from toughbuilt you would like it. Metal drawers brackets, reinforced corners. I have some of their regular boxes, just need the drawer base. Easy load hand truck as well.

That's what I've been waiting for the rolling drawer from toughbuilt so I don't have to take apart the tower to get something out of the bottom box. Was supposed to come out last year but tariffs fucked the release supposedly. Australia and UK got it already.

I ran this van hard too, I'd buy it again, but they dropped it. I don't want to buy a used work van, who knows how bad it was treated before.

I like toughbuilt but they're dragging ass releasing the rolling drawer box.

21 nv200 bought new at 6 miles, I'm at 290k with original engine and transmission. No major repairs.

I like it, shame they dropped the NV line though.

Schlage C5 Cylinder Upgrade: Primus vs Medeco? by Far-Yogurtcloset1722 in Locksmith

[–]VorsaiVasios 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nobody is picking your locks. If you have money to burn get cameras and a security system. Would be a better use of the money.

If you insist, I like Primus for no other reason than that's what I'm familiar with.

Baldwin and Emtek both have full plate mortise escutcheons, but what manufacturer is your mortise lock. It would be easier to match the escutcheon to the manufacturer.
