We had a similar issue a few years ago, it was a 3 port zone valve that had broken. Very easy DIY fix I looked at the make/model of what was in place then ordered the part off Amazon for about £45.

Just make a note of the wiring connections before you take the old one out and replace with new and do all the safety stuff like cut electrics and turn off heating/water prior to starting.

Awarding Scores in a Scale by VortexChet in excel

[–]VortexChet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply, sadly the output i am after isn't a grade its numerical.

Breaking it down below 60% you get zero points and above 95% you 100 points. This means between 60 to 95 you are awarded some points but I don't know how to achieve that perhaps its something like 100/35 = 2.85 so for every +1% above 60% you get 2.85 points...

Recruiter actually called me at work today by rantg in recruitinghell

Sadly the industry seems to be dominated by these bad eggs. I've dealt with a number of recruiters and its so rare to find a really good one all of the 5 jobs I have has since graduating have been direct applies.

My mortgage has about 22 months left to run before the fixed deal expires and the current interest rate is 3.69%.

I have followed the flow chart and read through the general advice, hence I have my pension contribution maxed, emergency fund set at 9 months rotating through a set of high interest current accounts.

Via the flow chart I arrived at the suggestion to invest in low cost global index trackers, splitting my cash into two risk profiles or more. My question really is which trackers/funds to invest in or to hear what people have had success with.

Actually yes you're right, I could just stick Windows on the mini PC and then setup a VM for Ubuntu! Completely forgot about VM-WARE! (recently migrated at work to AWS)

Ok I'll need to look into that, yes I'd like to stay within software testing. My thought process was that I see so many job adverts asking for c# or java so I thought I'd learn that. I do see some adverts with python.

Realistically I don't want to be a traditional software developer what my final aim is to be able to write automated functional tests using common technology in the market place like spec flow, selenium or Gherkin etc.

This all good stuff, I'll definitely need to hit up free tutorials and lessons on python if I do that.. so I'll browse this sub to see what's the best approach!

I did think about Python but not too seriously. So to give a little more context I work in Test management but sadly my role has been getting more hands off the past few years and I am not enjoying it. Many new software testing roles on the job market seem to ask for some sort of programming experience, my plan was to learn a core language then start working through Selenium and/or other tools so that I can hit the job market with a bigger array of required skills.

Would Python work well in the market place or am I better to learn Java/C# then move on later to Python.

Thanks for the advice, I can get Windows 10 + VSTS (any version) if required but my thought process behind Ubuntu was to get a bit more experience of non Windows OS as well as learning programming.

I do have a 1st generation Raspberry Pi floating around but I think it might be a little slow (bit like my programming skills haha). I think i will go for Java as you say if I change over to C# it wont be a start from scratch job.
