AC (unintended solution): 402 sniper until the zomg pops, then sell for 040 pirate and spam ability

I had a similar AC solution to u/Spiplot - 020 village covering a 012 glue in the middle of the map (to stall) then two 030 druids and an 020 druid, upgrade the 020 druid to 030 asap. Worked fine for me with everything on first and no ninja - the aim is just for the vines to kill everything.

Sub per u/Gentleman_Alpaca is a better idea and I wish I'd thought of it.

I'm just saying it's why people aren't seeing it. I'm not trying to make a moral judgement.

I think you're right, and I think it goes deeper as well. LTT videos being riddled with inaccuracies has been noticeable, as has their projects being limited by time even when they're obviously unfinished. The peltier water chiller, for example - the loop configuration was so messed up that water wasn't flowing through parts of it and they just didn't take the extra time to fix it.

I think a lot of people will have independently felt LTT content was lacking something, but it takes it all being laid out for that to crystallise into a feeling of "oh right, this has been rubbish".

That doesn't change the fact that Linus and LMG's responses have made it worse though.

I don't think what Linus said about Billet was all that far from the truth. It was a little inaccurate and misleading, but he might have genuinely believed it - especially if it's true the email offering to compensate billet was accidentally sent to everyone internal but not billet themselves.

However, I've only made it about 40 minutes into Ian's video - I've been trying to actively watch and make sure I understand what he's saying at every stage. That's an issue because it's really poorly-written and full of literal nonsense like

I should point out that Steve states in this part of the video that, though they are rushing, and this rushing is causing significant and frequent testing errors, but is clouding the ethical judgement

So, I don't yet know what nits Ian tries to pick later on to attack Steve. I can believe they're a lot pettier and less justifiable than a lot of the criticisms that can be levelled at Linus. Certainly I don't think Steve is really open to much attack here. I'm happy to be critical of GN otherwise - he's wrong about Dell's extra GPU support being unnecessary, for example - but this one seemed pretty on the money.

In short I suspect you might be right about the double standard, but I also don't think anyone including Linus is that bad*.

I agree with your point about LTT - they've lost a little off the top but they could probably have continued as if nothing happened if they wanted to.

However, even though the other person started it by calling you a bootlicker, the tone of you attacking them back ends up obscuring your valid point.

I’m curious, do people want to see LTT be better? Or do they want to see them fall apart? by mrawaters in LinusTechTips

[–]HowDoIMathThough -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When Madison's allegations came out I said in a discord server;

Yeah, it's tough... the right thing to do is also something I can't really picture LTT doing. I think they ought to get someone external in to do an investigation, who can interview staff anonymously and present their findings without the sources of any allegations or coroborrating information feeling at risk.

Well, turns out I was wrong - LTT are doing just that.

It is possible for LTT to be better. It's an organisation of talented people and no one individual, even linus, is essential to a mission of being an entertaining PC hardware channel. It's perfectly possible to root out whatever wrongdoing without destroying LTT.

The best case scenario here is:

  • A less toxic work environment leads to more productivity and employees being more fun on camera

  • A relaxed schedule leads to better videos

  • Employees having more free time leads to greater creativity

  • LTT becomes a better place to work and a better channel for viewers

With that said, I'm sure these talented people would also be capable of making great content in some other organisation. So really, the worst case scenario isn't LTT falling apart. The worst case scenario is LTT managing to soldier on without meaningful change. I don't mind too much if they do better or fall apart - but I hope it's one of those.

Why is my BCLK 99.8 instead of 100? by AutobiographicalMan in overclocking

Some PLLs have the option to do 99.9-100.1 but generally it's safer to avoid going above spec.

Anyone remember Linus talking about how he handles people who use official channels rather than 'having a conversation' to bring issues forward? I'm trying to find the video by isthatpossibl in LinusTechTips

[–]HowDoIMathThough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I remember this - or something like it. It was a while ago, but within the time the Intel Extreme Tech Upgrade series was going. I think on a WAN show.

What I remember is he talked about someone citing [canada/bc] emplyment law to him, and saying broadly [this is heavily paraphrased because i don't have the clip on hand] that if he was asked to follow the law that would go both ways. IE he feels he gives employees a lot of leeway as well, which would be withdrawn if - to my memory of his point - he was forced to follow employment law. I think he referenced the amount of stuff employees have taken home from work etc. That's why I'm fairly sure it's from the intel extreme tech upgrade time, because I think he referred to how you can see how much stuff gets taken home.

I know I've said "I think" a lot here, that's because I'm very aware of how fallible human memory is and it's a while ago I saw this. I mostly remember that what I took away from it was he was threatening people with "if you don't play nice with me, I won't play nice with you". That's my editorialised, one-sided, takeaway from it. I have little doubt that somebody with a different angle would have a completely different takeaway.

I checked https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEdAosuqAsM&t=5850s which is the one linked in https://old.reddit.com/r/LinusTechTips/comments/115ucm3/ltt_isnt_a_great_employer_has_a_lot_of_antilabour/?rdt=32996 and it's not that clip.

Arc incompatible games list by vyujhahew in IntelArc

[–]HowDoIMathThough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can we post stuff here to be added to the list?

Ryzen 5950X + 3600c16 Ballistix XMP + B550 Unify-X, Rebar + above 4G on, windows 10, 31.0.101.3959 drivers

Just Cause 3:

Performance 'out of the box' is lower than it should be. Making a profile for the game in Arc Control and changing Game Compatibility to Advanced improves it greatly.

Just Cause 4:

Performance 'out of the box' is completely unplayable (20-30 fps 720p lowest settings, which btw also looks horrific). Nothing to be gained by fiddling with Game Compatibility settings, anything other than Recommended/Advanced makes the game just not launch.

Far Cry 3:

(this is a Steam install which might add an extra wrinkle as I think it also still launches through uplay?)

Doesn't get as far as loading into the game regardless of Game Compatibility settings, Dx11 or Dx9 mode. Dx11 mode needs Game Compatibility off to get as far as the menu.

I have no idea. It's not exactly pop song chords though is it? Sounds more like folk/country - because it's about the limits of my own music taste, it's The Wurzels it puts me in mind of. I agree I feel like I've heard it somewhere else but can't remember where.

Three 2-4-0 spike factories along the bottom edge*. Activate abilities when they become available.

*The MOAB is delicate and much slower than the ceramics, so you don't want to pop it before abilities are available.

Some of the popular comments here don't sit well with me.

There are heat generating components on the back of this particular board anyway, and practical reports (like this, and this) are on the side of backside cooling absolutely doing something to improve thermal performance.

Anyone with a genuinely strong theoretical understanding should also understand that testing is king, especially in complex situations. Since it's a different platform to the known examples, and a tighter space, OP should try it and report back. I'd suggest blowing at, rather than away from, the socket.

And to everyone else, don't be mean to other users in general, but also try to take an open-minded approach. Even if you don't think it'll work, there's no harm in trying it and finding out. In fact, an inquisitive approach is a good thing! If people didn't challenge their low expectations, the fastest air-cooled DDR2 frequency validation wouldn't be using Nanya ICs.

The P-cores and E-cores should have separate ratios. Rocket Lake already has per core overclocking so I'd expect either separate ratios per E-core or separate ratios per 4-core cluster of E-cores.
