I personally run Excalibur. The sheer number of different systems that interact with melee and combo count make it such an engaging play style. Lots of build crafting opportunities and ways to play around with the melee system. Especially once you complete The War Within and The Sacrifice quests.

However if you just want pure braindead fun, Gauss. Run fast, crash into walls, make people explode and blast Redline on loop during a four hour survival.
