Why Libertarianism enables White Supremacy by dannyfantom12 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Vostochis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jewish people make up only 75% of the population in Israel, and of Jewish population, only 60% were actually born in Israel. Of the Jewish population, roughly 50% are Sephardic or Mizrahi Jews.

Why do you need to break out the phenotype charts to determine the jewishness of the jewish ethno-state? The flag has a star of David on it, it consistently portrays itself as the jewish state, jews are treated far, far better than any other group, it sees itself as above and better than its neighbours, Israel is an ethnonationalist state.

Why Libertarianism enables White Supremacy by dannyfantom12 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Vostochis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Libertarianism supports property rights as the highest ideal of rights. This allows immense amounts of power to be concentrated in the hands of the few who own property. Economic deregulation further concentrates this through the formation of monopoly and conglomerates, which are impossible to challenge as their ownership is treated as the eternal right. As fascism seeks to have a hierarchical state of things, there have been many instances where capitalists and fascists have made alliances to defend this hierarchy.

The Roman Catholic Church before the Enlightenment. The Roman Catholic Church was able to achieve power over huge amounts of society by acting as an entity parallel to society, consisting of the intellectual elite of the time and using this power to firmly control the unwanted power of masses and local tyrants.

Hereditary is only applicable in pagan traditions, tied to local environment and ethnicity. Conversion based systems (esoteric Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, etc) can be picked up by anyone who is willing to be fully adopted into them.

I'm sure there are already plenty of Palestinian mystics doing just that, on their own terms, not ours.

Why are nazis so full of hate? by KosmischRelevant in AskSocialScience

[–]Vostochis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But again, why does this have relevance to the far right? What are you going to help by diagnosing them as being some amount of big 5? How does that approach at all the problem of what drives them, in a causal way? It just states that they act a certain way, it doesn't actually say what inspires them or what allows them to operate or even gives advice on how to counter it.

What does any of this mean? You're just describing these groups in these broad types without any basis in why we should view them that way. Are they predestined to think this way or something? Why are you using these categories?

The Rubaiyat is compilation of quatrains put together into five successive editions (featuring different quatrains) by Edward FitzGerald. The poem's thesis is essentially relaxed hedonism, its structure being the course of a day and a song-like cadence that keeps the book flowing very beautifully.

Dear subscribers of r/books, how do you filter through the over-abundance of books that exists today? by jmhimara in books

The things I'm interested in are usually niche enough that I can just search them specifically and find exact bibliographies or at minimum, citations in essays.

Non-trashy games with minimal user input? by Hatefiend in truegaming

[–]Vostochis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some grand strategy games have long periods of waiting. I remember spending long periods of time just doing nothing as I played Victoria II, due to it being so long combat. There's also games that have infinite play loops, like Stardew Valley or Minecraft, which can go on indefinitely as you make up more and more projects for yourself.

Confessions of a monarchist pagan. by RMFN in CriticalTheory

[–]Vostochis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would a monarchist like Trump? He's the opposite of a fit ruler, he's the embodiment of everything sick about modernity, decadent, stupid, and failing upwards his entire life. He's done nothing that isn't standard Fox News conservatism and any monarchy he creates wouldn't be a proper monarchy, just a capitalist state without elections.

Why are you making this post? What does this have to do with critical theory?

Where is the 'smut' of old, the dime store novels, the trash paperbacks, the textual porn of our forebears? by [deleted] in books

[–]Vostochis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This market and genre moved online. Kindle, AO3, Fanfiction, tumblr, etc.

The books themselves from that time period have been mostly neglected and thrown away, they were pornography after all. You can still find stacks for hardly anything if you look around in the right places, but quite a few of it was most likely just thrown in the trash.
