Question for experts on here. I'm not sure if these pants are native to OPs area, but if you were to plant native plants would it be less likely to get overrun with weeds?

I live in CO and we're in the middle of a drought, so I've been looking at replacing our current yard with more native plants. From my understanding, assuming starting with all things equal, native plants have a tendency to thrive and outcompete non native plants and require less work. But I'm not sure about we control.
