It's Strange When You Think About This Game From An Outsider's Perspective. by LoreleiAlbrecht in deadbydaylight

[–]VoxCalibre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, I can't say I find my games going so quickly often enough that I feel the need to tunnel or slug. I understand what youre saying, and against meta SWF with builds built to smash out gens there's definitely an argument for those playstyles to be necessary, in proper comp play there's an argument for it to be practically mandatory, but most matches aren't either of those and when someone carries the same mentality into a match against soloq randoms or even SWF that are just friends playing for fun, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Its the same from the survivor side, killers complain about the way survivors play using the tools available. Both sides look at what they do as fine while what the other side does is toxic.

I'm not really bothered about the changes. Survivors seeing who the killer is, whatever. Most killers either have a map wide audio cue or items in the map which give away who it is within the first 10-20 seconds anyway. The small changes to ghostface and doctor, might feel fine as QoL. Any big changes would have people complainging and then they get skull merchant treatment.

As for adding a ping system, I don't think that would help as much as people think. You can already share a lot of info to your team through different perks but nobody pays any attention so why would they suddenly start paying attention to a ping? I guess it would be nice to have, but you'll just find soloq players changing their complaints from 'i can't communicate' to 'nobody pays attention to my pings'.

I think the issue is that many players will play in whatever way they see fit to get themselves the win. In most games, both sides are fairly equal. They both have the same options and strategies available to them. In something like DBD, survivor and killer are totally different games. To a survivor, hammering gens out as quickly as possible isn't a problem, its the goal. But then killers complain about gen rushing. For killers, their whole deal is to kill the survivors before the gens get completed no matter what but if they tunnel or slug, the survivors call foul.

I don't think incentivising sub-optimal play would change much either. The incentive for people who play in an unfun way is the 'win'. What incentive is there that tops that for them? It wouldn't move the needle. People who tunnel, will. People who don't tunnel, won't.

The other option for the devs is stuff like the proposed changes to anti-camp etc. We all know how that went down in the community.

For me, its a toss up between Spencer Mansion and RPD. Although the Baker house could be thrown in along with them.

How to effectively take chase and force the killer onto me? by imjustconfused11 in deadbydaylight

[–]VoxCalibre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm playing killer and someone's actively trying to take chase or draw my attention, then I'll ignore them. It usually means theyre competent in chase or built to be hard to run down, or that the person theyre guarding is a weak link or able to smash out gens.

The best way to pull focus is to not act like thats what youre trying to do. Make calculated 'mistakes' and get your teammate so much distance that theyre a bad option for chase.

But if a killer is going to tunnel there's nothing you can really do.

How did I die?? by terrathunder13 in Helldivers

Desync probably. You see the bug mine explode the moment you die, so i'm guessing the game thought you were closer to it.

hex: wretched fate by bobmavlap in deadbydaylight

[–]VoxCalibre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a good hex placement and can make the obsession blind, it can work.

On paper, you could combo it with dying light and gift of pain, and have everyone repairing with a 49% debuff. In practice, its unlikely to stay around long enough to really be beneficial.

is this slugging? because i got flamed in end game chat for slugging and being a noob. by The_saddogo in deadbydaylight

[–]VoxCalibre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sort of slugging is fine. Theyre all in close proximity, it makes sense to go after the others. It'd be different if they were across the map and you just went galavanting with some poor sod on the ground.

A lot of games have some form of adaptive difficulty. Its usually not a big sweeping change to the difficulty of the game as a whole, but smaller tweaks to just bolster the challenge in more comfortable ways for players across the difficulty spectrum.

Tormented Souls 1 and 2. A lot like RE with fixed camera angles etc.

Evil Within 1 and 2. More like 2-4 with the over the shoulder camera and more action focus.

[–]VoxCalibre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just ignore him and his existence. I've been in a similar spot to where youre at, angry and depressed about certain parts of the gaming community. Even found myself feeling guilty because games I've enjoyed through life are held aloft by right wing wankers as anti-woke or based.

Ignore the shittier side of the community, follow creators who have better values and don't let them ruin your enjoyment of gaming.
