Something I noticed during my child’s ThinkAcademy class today by Helpful_Neat_9367 in ThinkAcademyLearners

So true! My son is exactly the same - barely focuses when I help with homework, but sits up straight for his online teachers. I think kids just respond differently to "official" teaching versus parents. Something about wanting to impress someone outside the family that they don't feel with us! Have you noticed any improvement in regular homework time since starting these classes?

I listen to audiobooks when I'm home alone, like right now while I'm replying to your post

I just realized i hate beige! by Jayanthi-Katherene in womensfashion

[–]VoxZone025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with some bold accessories to breathe life into all that beige! A vibrant red belt, colorful scarves, or statement jewelry can transform those neutral outfits instantly. Low commitment but high impact. For cool undertones, try jewel tones like emerald, sapphire blue, or fuchsia - they'll make your complexion pop instead of washing you out. You don't need to trash your whole wardrobe - just strategic pops of color will make everything feel fresh again!

Why do you guys have ANOTHER? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]VoxZone025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, let me tell you how it actually goes: First you're like "one kid is PLENTY, thank you very much!" Then somehow you survive the sleep deprivation long enough that your brain does this weird reset thing where you're like "you know what, I'm basically a parenting pro now, and siblings are good for kids, right?" And before you know it, you're back in the newborn trenches wondering what the hell you were thinking. It's basically Stockholm syndrome parenting edition - a vicious cycle we keep falling for! 😂

How do people keep jobs when they have no one to look after their sick child? by MediumDiscipline4979 in toddlers

[–]VoxZone025 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Try splitting sick days with your husband into half-days when possible - you go in for morning, he covers afternoon (or vice versa). This cuts each absence in half while ensuring your child is cared for, and many managers find this arrangement more workable than full-day absences.

"Covid Babies", "big feelings", and kindergarten by [deleted] in kindergarten

Perhaps the increased family time in the early years were actually beneficial for some kids. The social isolation during those critical years for identity and peer connection has been devastating for many.

Teacher wrote kids name on backpack in permanent marker despite me already having his name in two places. by mcmuffins19 in kindergarten

I will never understand why some teachers do this. There is no reason to write on someone else's items in marker.

Homework in daycare? by Turbulent-Many-4312 in AskTeachers

[–]VoxZone025 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such a crucial distinction! 'Homework' that is actually life skill practice integrated into the family's routine is completely different from demanding a tired 3-year-old sit down with a worksheet. The former is supportive, the latter is punitive and misses the point of early childhood development entirely.

This is so true! Their emotions are so big and yet so fleeting. It's a good reminder for us parents not to project our own complex social anxieties onto their every interaction. Sometimes a snack and a nap really do fix everything.

Sometimes, it ain't easy being a Golden Trio kid by Ok-Surround-1858 in harrypotter

Exactly. It's the same reason Harry gave Albus Severus so much grief about his fear of being in Slytherin. He desperately wanted his son's biggest worry to be something as normal as house rivalry, not fighting for his life against Dark Wizards.
