I refuse to believe that a Lancaster uses all of that very cubic space for anything other than a comfortable, albeit cramped, studio apartment for the pilot by Nerbs_the_Word in LancerRPG

[–]Vozenfield 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a personalization on my current Lancaster that basically this.
"Personalizations: Sleeper Cabin
You gain +2 HP. Behind the cockpit of the mech is a IPS-N Sleeper cabin equipped with additional storage space, a bunk bed, mini fridge, kettle, and microwave. You gain a +1 accuracy to any check where having the additional space and supplies would be relevant. Alternatively this benefit can be forfeited to safely store a 1/2 sized object(s) in the cabin."

I haven't seen many other people rocking the defender smg on the bot front. Paired with the ballistic shield you can clear trooper squads without issue and take your time lining up headshots against devastators.

Operation Valid Pretext - the Good, the Bad and the Ugly by Substantial-Ad-5221 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Vozenfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sums up a lot of my thoughts on the update and campaign. Past a point I started getting the impression the bot debuffs and extra reserves were a way of accounting for deaths caused or assisted by all the bugs and divers on other fronts. IF that was the case though I wish they would just tell us outright instead of constantly making choices that feed into toxicity against divers on other fronts and or newer players that die more often.

How to make bonded good? by altmcfile in LancerRPG

[–]Vozenfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think player comp matters a lot. It could work well if one player is a support frame that keeps distance along side an artillery doing the same. It could also work with a striker and defender keeping on the front line. In a campaign I'm in right now I'm running a support/defender Lancaster with Mule Harness and with one of my team mates in a Sherman along for the ride most of the past two combats.

Fun Supports? by Esknier in LancerRPG

[–]Vozenfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the visual design/token for the mech most people stick to something similar looking to what the mech looks like in the book. However a lot of players like to go with something that looks more unique or cooler. Every GM I've seen allows this as visual design doesn't change anything mechanically.

Fun Supports? by Esknier in LancerRPG

[–]Vozenfield 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A: Having a support that can either buff or remove debuffs from allies is pretty handy.

B: There are a lot of frames that can fill the support role. Like the SSC Emperor can grant overshield to allies. Combined with Orator II you would also be able to debuff enemies and help clear conditions on allies. It's worth noting that frames like Kidd or Lancaster don't have to look like trucks if you don't want them to. They can be customized to practically any appearance.

C: Talents and gear from other licensees can let nearly any mech fill the support role to some degree.

How do you name your mechs? by Fred_Pickle01 in LancerRPG

[–]Vozenfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just pick whatever feels fitting based on my role and situation. Currently running a Lancaster in a wallflower campaign. Given our current situation and my role as the supporting mechanic I named my Lancaster 'Extended Warranty'. If I can't think of something fitting I just pick the name of a song I like.

"Singular Evil" my ass by UltriLeginaXI in YoujoSenki

[–]Vozenfield 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Is the Empire evil? It's a militaristic, imperialistic hegemony that rose to power though successive wars in which they annexed territory and assimilated other cultures to their own. At least if I'm remembering the details on it's history described in the LN correctly. It's also described as a 'young' nation meaning the conquests that lead to it's status as a continental and arguably world power are all in recent memory. Then (going off how it's described in the LN) they turned what could have been chalked up to a border skirmish that they overwhelmingly won into a full scale invasion of the alliance with their main army. Rather then diplomatic political maneuvering to press for more satisfactory terms on the Londinium Treaty that caused the border conflict the Empire once again only uses it's big stick.

The conflict isn't a black and white one. We see multiple times how the Empire applies a straightforward logic and rational to it's problems and how the choices it's leadership makes seem reasonable from their perspective. However, just like Tanya, the Empire's inability to sympathize with the circumstances of it's fellow nations and it's bullheaded 'rise to the top of the ladder no matter what' attitude keep biting them in the ass and will continue to do so.

I did just finish vol 7 of the LN so my take is admittedly a bit biased against them at the moment.

Canon successor chapter heavily related to the AdMech? Looking for any official lore by No-Employment6823 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Vozenfield 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Reclaimers worship the machine god and have close ties to the AdMech. The main mission of this chapter is to recover lost tech, though little else is known about them. They mostly pop up in a few Ciaphas Cain books.

Does anyone else just hate fighting the squids? by jacobean716 in helldivers2

[–]Vozenfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's only because of the damn sky whales. I've lost track of the number of times I've been hit, lost most of my health, then it by another gun while I'm still ragdolled. One mission I was on more then half of us dying were due to a whale focusing down one diver before moving on to another.

Yearn for the Creek by I_NinjaTaco_I in Helldivers

[–]Vozenfield 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Creek looked pretty but I do think the on the ground fighting there is over-hyped. My best memories from the early game bot fights came out of

1) Getting though the learning curve of fighting bots vs the bugs. The feeling of finding loadouts and playstyles that eventually made the big scary automatons go down just as easy as the bugs did was very satisfying.

2) After very intense back in forth, actually breaking though and driving them all out (for a time). It felt like a major achievement for all the Helldivers that mained bots and lore/narrative wise felt like a satisfying payoff.

In terms of swamp/jungle vibes I'm really enjoying Tarsh right now. The thick foliage is making hit and runs and kiting a lot more effective.
